Sorry about the long title.
As you can probably tell, this is about Sunsetting Armor.
EDIT: With this post, I'm basically saying that we need more sources of Ascendant Shards outside of Master Nightfalls. I don't see the point in having high-level Nightfalls the only sources of Shards since we won't be able to use the armor we grinded materials for in those Nightfalls after they've been Sunsetted.

Point is to give people who like to grind 200 to 500 or more seasonal levels a sense of accomplishment. It’s end game reward dude! Would you prefer 2 blues?
-
Just use them on new gear you acquire after sun setting. Who knows, you might love that new random drop legendary getting released next season.
-
What’s the point of a body when you write everything in the topic?
-
Don’t need more sources, they just need to get rid of the grinder 8/9/10 because they are such a waste of time with sun setting
-
I don’t understand the sun set to armor, but I am glad the mod slot is going to last a full year. Transmog will help me change the look as long as prices aren’t too crazy. 80% of my time on this game is spent in non endgame activities, so I’m not really too worried about a years worth of viability in end game. More sources of Ascendant Shards would be a welcome change as well. But, if the power cap continues to be raised in Seasonal Activities I will be disappointed with these upcoming changes.

Editado por DredLaP: 6/5/2020 5:35:49 PMThe game has changed my friend. No longer grind and volume play to the beat game and then continue playing to chase god rolls and collect. For many, it will be, do bare minimum to beat the game and move on. Once done, there will be way less people around for sherpas and matchmaking.

2 RespuestasI have gone 1/2 way through one and quit, I found it absolutely boring. It isn't challenging, it's tedious. If you don't basically run a certain setup, you can't compete. On top of that you can basically get the same rewards as running the same nightfall at 1000. Getting the title just isn't worth it imo.

13 RespuestasYour armour will last a full year. If it takes you a full year to get ~8 ascendant shards, that's on you.
-
5 RespuestasEditado por name: 6/4/2020 7:04:18 PMtheres no point playing Destiny2 at all, unless you are broke and a bored masochist who cant afford to buy better games
-
Editado por KEITH_LEGEND-82: 6/5/2020 2:04:47 PMYeah I would agree with your edit... if we had more sources it would be less of an issue! Removing the caps would be an idea as well!

I only grind master nightfalls for different rolls on exotics and those aren’t going away. Ascendant shards you are bound to get along the way so it’s just an extra plus.

Let me broaden the question to an extreme to help illustrate a point:
What's the point in grinding Master Nightfalls for Ascendant Shards for Armor that cannot be brought forward into Destiny 3?
Sounds silly to ask, but think about it, when Destiny 2 is over, all of the work done to level up and progress in Destiny 2 will have effectively been for nothing. This doesn't mean that it was not worthwhile because we can enjoy the work we've done during the span of the game. Likewise, Sunsetting does not mean our progression has been for nothing, because we can enjoy it during the span of a year of the game. One point I will grant you as a concern with Armor sunsetting, there needs to be more ways of obtaining high stat gear and Masterwork materials. So far, we have seen great progress this season and I suspect it will improve next season based on the TWAB discussing loot from about a month ago.

As long as Luke Smith gets a check and a burger

2 RespuestasThe way it has worked for me the past few seasons has been very similar. Earn the season pass armor, then masterwork it all. Then towards the end of the season I'll grind legend ordeals and the pit for prisms and buy 10 shards from banshee for next seasons armor. Good luck.

1 RespuestaHonestly I see the frustration and think we need a couple more sources for a chance (maybe final raid encounter add a chance) but at the same time your new armor will last a year and if you are a season pass owner get a high stat roll set along with 3 ascendant shards. Without that, if you can’t get 5-8 ascendant shards in a year before your armor becomes stale then I see that as a user losing interest rather than the game faulting the user If PoH isn’t getting upgraded with power cap you can always snag a boss checkpoint and run it 1-3 times to earn gear that gives you 6 cores and 6 prisms each time. You can run daily gunsmith bounties to earn 4 to 12 cores a day that would take you about 30-40 minutes across 3 characters (maybe 10 on 1 character) With an upgraded clan you can get 7-21 cores a week without even having to grind, if you do the bounties and activities it kinda happens naturally. If you a big crucible guy, maybe add like a few prisms per valor reset, cause right now you get 10 cores I know very well I’ve been lazy with finest matter weave for a while lol I think Master Nightfalls need to be more accessible to players like Season of Dawn (in simple terms, SoD has Master at Pinnacle cap + 10 season levels while SoW has Pinnacle cap + 20 season levels) There are definitely minimal sources for specifically ascendant shards but if you can’t get that in a year then there is a lack of activity from the player imo
-
1 RespuestaI know that the power cap sucks, but the yearly mod slot is better than the one season before and after mod compatibility. We will pretty much just need three armor sets(Arc,Solar,Void) for a year and then transmog the rest. I count that as a good thing, but that’s subjective. I was just tired of grinding so many armor sets this year though.
-
I think you answered your own question. You'll need those shards for the new armor. Stockpile and masterworking will not be an issue.
-
2 RespuestasMe and my Team did all 6 GRANDMASTERS. We each got ONE Golf ball out of the 6 GRANDMASTERS completed. The description claims that they are a COMMON reward. Bull$hit!
-
I don't grind for materials but i understand what you mean tho
-
1 RespuestaSave the materials for armor you get next year.
-
This is one reason why I don't understand why the limit is being put on armour. For weapons you can get away with still using one that's capped for only a slight dip in power level, so they'll still be good in master nfs and definitely so in gm nightfalls due to the contest modifier. But a whole armour set will wreck your power level.
-
Good point, the only thing worth grinding is against Luke Smith's sexy behind...
-
2 RespuestasYo dawg, we heard you like grind... so we put some grind on yo grind, so you can grind while you grind.
-
You know what a circle jerk is right? 😜😜
-
So you can grind again and again
-
Overall, I'm against sunsetting because I think it's unnecessary and an excuse for the same content to be sold back to us at a later date. That being said, do you realise that armour and weapons will be viable for 9-12 months? Depending on whether you earn it at the beginning or towards the end of a season. That's quite a while. Furthermore, nothing in this game requires fully master worked armour to complete, I'll probably be getting to 9 and stopping there unless it's a god rolled exotic. I certainly won't be hunting god rolled weapons either, any decent roll will do. Conclusion, don't like sunsetting, will water down the game and drive many players away or cause them to play less but I'm not worried re having enough armour or materials.
