They made Guardian Games a thing insteasd of faction rallies. Let that sink in (Updated)
I'm not pleased with this. Faction Rallies would have been a nice touch to gain trust but now the game is going to start promoting class elitism through an in-game event.
Furthermore the concept of Guardian Games is so bad and stands encourage class rivalry, not the friendly kind. Every class has their fair share of appeals that people enjoy playing them for, so by making an event which is supposed to give a title to "the most dedicated" class in the game, the game is going to paint the other classes as "less dedicated", which I can assure is not most of the playerbase.
[spoiler]I'm a Hunter main and I'm not going to partake in this stupid event because it goes against the open-minded appeal Destiny is supposed to maintain.[/spoiler]

Looking back when I wrote this I must've been pretty pissed. Despite what I say here, I only wish Bungie the best and I sincerely hope they succeed with Destiny 2. That's something I should have put at the end, because no matter how low they may fall, we all want Destiny 2 (or 3, or whatever) to be a good game in the end. I won't get rid of what I wrote here because just deleting everything and replacing it with a cheesy apology would be cowardly of me. The point still stands, though; having class rivalry is fine, but Bungie sanctioning it doesn't feel right, at least not at this degree.

Events like these can never be about dedication. Especially considering current class usage numbers. The way I see it, we have three options. 1) We don't play the event at all. This would provide the most powerful statement to Bungie that we don't need unhealthy rivalry in this game. 2) We play the event, but only to get the exotic machine gun (and maybe the ghost shells). Still a statement, but not as powerful. 3) We play the event as normal, but we do it for the Bright Dust / Double XP rewards and don't care about the standings. Something most people will do.

Free event (easy copy paste of the Forrest) VS Actual content they would have to put more resources towards cause nobody wants the original faction rallies back.

Personally I prefer factions not to return as faction rallies. Those were extremely boring if I dont say so myself. While I think factions shouldcome back, I have to play guardian games first to make a decision.

Guardian Games is a heck of a lot more interesting than Faction Rallies. Unless farming the same Lost Sector on an endless loop is fun to you.

They’ve always historically been that way, but especially so with the Rallies thing. The mechanics behind Rallies/tokens were tedious and grindy for no reason, and at some point they recognized nobody would bother with it if they didn’t put the Graviton Lance/Sweet Business/Sunshot Catalysts behind each of them. There was nothing fun, interesting, new, or even cool looking about any of the tangibles. All I remember them being was a distraction, because there was an [i]extreme[/i] content drought at the time. I certainly didn’t enjoy the game at the time, and Faction Rallies made me not want to play it even more, since they mucked up content I actually wanted to do (Escalation Protocol with the debuff, anyone?)

Faction Rallies wasn't exactly fun. It was literally just grinding the same lost sectors. Yeah, I'm mad content for stripped away, kinda promised to make a return, but then just dropped entirely when we all thought it was going to come back "better than ever", clearly Bungie can't do it. For god sakes look at Trials. Factions should go back to how they were in D1. As far as Gaurdian Games goes, meh. There's already enough toxicity when it comes to "who's the master race". You literally get name called and shat on if you voice how you feel about your favorite class. This all sounds negative, I'm sure. It's just frustrated at this game. I recently just got a few friends back into Destiny because of Trials, and I feel like jack ass because Trials came out half baked. I want this game to be good again. Where all my close IRL friends would grind all day long, do raids, and stomp kids in Trials.
