Dear some creationists...

As you can tell from the title, this is gonna be a fun one. Atheism and anti theism are not the same thing. This orignates directly from the etymology of the original greek. There is one greek prefix and one greek word used in atheism. The prefix "a"
"a" is used in Greek words to express negation or absence
and the word "theism"
The noun theism to describe the belief in at least one god.
. Anti theism is made up of two words. Anti
To be opposed to or against something
and "theism", which has already been defined. Now, for some of you keen viewers at home, you may see where this is going. I've been told time and again by creationists who aren't me, that I since I'm an atheist, I believe there is no god, which is not true. All I do is simply lack a belief in god, I'm not believing in anything. On a seperate but related note, I've also been told that science is a belief system, which is true. The problem is, when I've been told this, it's been said in a way which makes science comparable to a religous belief system. Science is a belief system, but its an open belief system that attempts to limit faith. If someone successfully disproved gravity, science would not shatter, but rather evolve, if someone proved that Jesus did not ressurrect, then Christianity would cease to exist. Religion is a closed belief system that doesn't accept new evidence, that is the difference. Ok, rant over, feel free to crucify me and tell me I'm wrong in the comments. After all I'm just some whiney, misinformed kid with no real perspective on the world.
https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/anti https://en.bab.la/dictionary/english-greek/atheism If anyone wants to challenge me on my etymological or greek knowledge, here are some sources
TL;DR atheism is a lack of belief, science doesn't equal religion.

First, I want to point out that your post has nothing to do with creationism. Secondly, yes; I do think it is more accurate to describe atheism as lack of belief. If you think of the god question in logical terms: p = belief in god(s) <theism> ^p = nonbelief in god(s) <atheism>

But people are perfectly happy to cling to their idea of "science" as if it's a religion and refuse to accept new information. And then pretend that because they cling to "science" (unlike the non believers) that they are not only "right" but "better" then them. Which sounds a lot like a religion but with extra steps.

          • 7 universal days = prototypical creation. I create a cell, i dont like cell, i make cell into something better... Science is the proof of things repeatable... Yawn... "God isnt real...", yawn... "God is real..." Same ol situation. Who is man to declare reality? You who are a breath? I say big bang and "let their be light" are the same. The 7 days are universal turns not weak ass earth days. Humans are so self important and its starting to be that sentience is wasted on foolish creation. So much greed. So much "M/E" M/E = my ego. The universe is a song of balance. Destruction and creation. Gimme another 🍺 bartender... I aint drunk enuff.

                • Really I don’t like the word “atheist” as it’s got so much baggage and misunderstanding attached to it. It can mean you believe there is no god but it can also mean, as you say, you lack a belief in god. This is the difference between what is called soft atheism and hard atheism. People often want to label soft atheism as “agnosticism”. Fine - it’s not worth arguing about labels. Personally I don’t think the word atheism is all that helpful as is implies that it is it’s own belief system or something. When really it’s just not accepting someone else’s belief system. I prefer the term “non-believer” myself as it’s more precise.
