Lets not jump to conclusions
Like many of you, I was jaw droppingly dissapointed with the Undying Mind. I was like "Really, is this it, have Bungie really just re-skinned a D1 boss and dropped it into the Vex Offensive and labelled it the grand finale of season 8?" Then I started to notice some strange goings on...
The first thing that jumped out at me was Dmg04...why was he posting on negative feedback threads? Bungie have never responded to negative feedback, especially on this forum! Why now?
The second thing I thought strange was the type of questions being asked by Dmg04...

If those questions, (and there were others but these two stood out to me), are not designed to bait the community and to stir up emotion I do not know what are. Without doubt to me, they are leading questions, designed to create a disbelieving emotive response..."Of course it shouldn't have been on the roadmap, are you mad" and "activity! What activity?" etc etc
Finally, I thought back to what Luke Smith said at the end of the vidoc when they were detailing how season 8 and beyond was going to work. He said something along the lines of "the transition from season 8 to 9 is big, and I cant wait to see you reaction"...or words to that effect.
Now, either he said that with tongue in cheek and this is it, and they are all laughing their tits off at us right now or...we are being trolled and something big is about to drop?!?! I am not a betting man but If I was, I would put a cheeky Great British Pound on the latter. We have 3 weeks to the end of the season, plenty of time to drop some serious content that will truly deliver on what Luke Smith eluded too during the vidoc.
In short, in my opinion, Bungie are trolling us and over the next 3 weeks something big is going to happen. (Gosh I hope I am right or I am gonna look like a right fanboy dickhead).
Anyway, I'm gonna put my tin hat on and await the salt lol

If there was more in store that had the possibility of alleviating the disappointment in the community and really ending season 8 with a meaningful and memorable spectacle that makes everyone happy, then it would not be a proper course of action to elicit emotional responses on negative feedback threads. It would be a smarter move, and more appropriate to say things like: “We promised an amazing transition from season 8 to season 9, and that transition hasn’t happened yet. Stay tuned.” “The Vex portal in the tower is operational, but there is still construction going on to fine tune it’s full potential.” (Add photo of the guy still welding on the Vex portal). “If you think you’ve seen the end of the season, the culmination of the story, hold tight. The best is yet to come.” “We still have 3 more weeks of season 8. Trust us and let us wow you in the weeks to come.” Etc. You can tell the community that there is more on the way without spoiling anything. Bungie has a marketing and publicity department working hard on the best way to engage the community. The fact that we haven’t seen comments like the examples above are because: A- there is nothing more to come except possibly a cut scene or two as a season 8/9 transition. B- There is more to come, but the content is of such a similar quality to the Vex offensive that they don’t want to hype it further because the current community reaction is so negative. C- Bungie didn’t have anything planned, but now they are attempting to come up with something fast. Because they don’t know the final result of what they are scrambling to create, they are not going to hype it because it may not be ready in time. The most likely scenario is A. If more does get added, it will likely be a scenario where Bungie pulls assets from season 9 and puts them in early at the end of season 8 instead, in order to try and create an ending to season 8 that the community is more impressed with, since developing something new from scratch is not likely a viable option.

Well the activity was supposed to be disposable so the developers didn't put that much effort into it. I'll be suprised if they will be able to come up with something which will be pleasant to the community as a whole. Next season would most likely be another disposable activity which will be good for a few runs and might have some more Y1 reskinned weapons with random rolls so at least we'll have something to grind for. That's what my expectations are. And they even said on Reddit that this present feedback can't be implemented right away but may be towards the middle of the next season. So we should not expect any big changes due to current feedback at season launch.

1 RespuestaTbh, after the initial forum shitstorm I started to feel to feel the same way. I just got the feeling that there's no way in the world that this could be it after playing the same Vex Offensive we already played but with a different reskinned boss. I just don't think they would make that big of a mistake given that they want everyone to be excited about the direction the game is taking. Plus Cozmo cryptically said something about how this wasn't the end in the TWAB. But who knows. I guess we shall see.

You lost 90% of the fanboys in your first paragraph. Don’t use complicated words or thought processes. The points you make are facts to normally constituted people. SK wasn’t a success. Conversion rate on Newlight players was very low. Many already played several hundreds of hours and still don’t plan to buy. The fanboys who have been supporting Bungie after 97% of the population left one month and a half after D2 released don’t spend enough money on the game, far from enough! And even they are getting bored, since many of them aren’t big clanners. The returning players, like me, who have spent 30 for forsaken and the menagerie, and since 35 for shadow, are clearly not enthusiast enough to buy into the next season, especially now that: 1) We know what type of content will be released (shift to solar artifact, boring) 2) we know the difference between owning the season pass or not being null to void. 3) the largest chunk of this year’s content is behind us. 4) Many more games are out and/or coming out (especially a couple that the entire gaming community have been looking forward for years) 5) CoD is great, let’s be honest they scored really high this year, millions are loving it, MM is great, no more wall BS and the like, pure skill and speed! So yeah, muffin must be really in panic now that money is not being throw at the screen, not even cheap coins, do he’s sending the only guy that the community doesn’t hate.

The conclusion is the undying mind vex offensive sucks. There’s no saving it there’s no “jumping” . It’s more of a bending over and taking it scenario. Enjoy !

They could have had Imago Loop 2.0, unique armor/ornaments (even just a class item), emote, ship, sparrow, shader, ghost (not saying ALL of those necessarily) and it would have been better than NOTHING. Any of those would be incredibly easy to implement. I mean they are already making 50 ghost shell/ship/sparrow reskins a year for everworse...

Their track record says “no way”. Also with thousands of their most loyal customers venting their disgust via every medium available, the community guys wouldn’t be just lamely apologizing, they’d be saying stuff like “The Assault has not achieved its final shape” and that would immediately defuse the outrage.

I don’t work at Bungie or any other game developer, and that’s probably a good thing for two reasons: • I don’t have the qualifications for such a job and would likely detract from any product made. • I would troll the hell out of the players any chance I got. Players threatening to boycott the game because Final Assault didn’t live up to their expectations? That’s fine because I have a piping-hot lore based reason to troll them! Ikora has clearly stated that the Undying Mind must be killed in ALL timelines to truly die. Well, you didn’t help out, therefore the Undying Mind survived in a couple of timelines, and now the Moon has been completely terraformed by the Vex... Vex Offensive is now the only activity available on the moon. You liked the new dungeon? Well you should have worked harder to stop the Vex, sorry. This is why Bungie should [b]never[/b] give me a job and should only [i]occasionally[/i] implement my ideas on how the game could be improved. Now I must say that while I don’t feel that the change to Vex Offensive was terribly interesting, I’m not going to say I feel particularly “cheated” or that I’ve been “lied to” in regards to this activity, especially given the current season doesn’t end for a few weeks, and there’s always the small possibility of a curveball (whether it was planned from the beginning, or was undertaken in response to the backlash). Although I would predict on the off chance that there is indeed a curveball or narrative payoff that hasn’t yet played out, everyone will [i]assume[/i] the devs worked on it after the player base voiced their displeasure. don’t hire me. you’ll regret it. / (΄◉◞౪◟◉｀)
