I Don't Like Being A Big Guy
At work, while washing my hands at the handwash station before going out onto the floor, a guy comments about the way I walk. Apparently, I walk like a "tough guy." He proceeds to say I must be throwing something good to be as bulky as I am. I really didn't understand what he was talking about. Noticing my puzzled look, he asks what meat logs I'm throwing each day. He didn't notice the radio mic clipped onto my jacket's collar. I tell him that I don't throw anything because I'm the facility's HACCP Coordinator, I'm QA. Next he asks how long I'd been working for the company and if I worked up to it. I responded that I've been with the company for 3.5 years and started as a QA Tech. The conversation ends with him commenting that I've always been in QA.
After thinking about the encounter, I realised he was sizing me up, trying to figure out which of the two of us would win in a fight. He was looking me up and down. I'm assuming he concluded he would win since he throws meat logs 8+ hours a day while I don't. I'm fine with that.
Sure, I'm a big guy. Sure, I shave my head. Sure, I have a beard. Sure, I listen to Christian metal music. It doesn't mean I'm a guy looking for a fight. I also listen to Christian contemporary music. I'm probably one of the nerdiest people in the plant, I'm more tech savvy than our IT guy, and I'm one of the very few hourly employees, company wide, with a B.S. in microbiology.

I’m assuming you liked Striper back in the day👍. Hell of a band ,no pun intended. I know exactly what up mean about your size. I’m 6’4” 235lbs w/ a grayish goatee. Never looking for a fight, but also have the ability to stop it if it does start. I just look at those people that try to look you up and down, and realize they’re just intimidated.

humans are still animals. we behave just like them. sizing up what you consider to be the biggest threat isn't a horrible thing.

3 RespuestasDon’t be naive. Lots of dudes are like this. I work in the mining and utilities industries as a third party inspector. Men are dogs, and some of them are wolves. Have a backbone and don’t show weakness or somebody will try you regardless of how big you might be.

Some people are just always looking to measure themselves against others because they're that insecure. It sounds like you are ashamed of your stature. I can think of a lot of dudes who would love to be bigger. Now the more important issue; What is this 'meat log' and how do I acquire this satisfying sounding product?

2 RespuestasDude, it doesn't matter. Any big guy has to deal with that. I have to deal with it as well, except I am average height and I listen to, er, normal? metal. I also have a shaved head, a beard and tats. So I am either a biker, a badass, a racist, or all of the above. I am just like, "Uhm, look, can I just get my Chipotle bowl, I am hungry." All you can do is shake your head and go about your day. Idiots will be idiots.
