Pre-Flood:
The earliest era, before even time immemorial. This was the birth, the creation, the catalyst for all that would come. There aren't any users from this era still around, at least not that let themselves still be known. But there are rumors, myths and legends of ancient relics that still dot the land; incomprehensible and beyond abstract.
The Golden Flood:
This was our Glorious Roman Empire, our Alexander the Great, our -blam!- dynasty. This is when we united, and it is reflected in the superior quality and consistency of posts. This is when toast/envelope and ming = blown originated. Some people have devoted their time to restoring our land to a former superioty, and many consider this time to be the pinnacle of such reformative aspirations. You can still find the odd old-god dwelling around here, but rarely if ever will they post, yearning for a time long gone.
The Silver Flood:
Not inferior to the Golden Era by definition, but the longest era to date. It is marked by similarities to the Golden Flood, but with new members entering due to new Halo releases from bungie. Some traditions were lost here, and some traditions were made here which still last today. An example of loss is Lazer Wars, which end shortly before this era, and an example of this era surviving is Porch Day.
The Fall of the Flood:
Many offtopickles blame bungie for the downfall of the flood. This is not true; the cause of the flood's end was a civil war with many factions vying for control of the Flood and the front page of Trending. Eventually this system collapsed upon itself, and the different members of the flood found refuge in offshoot sites, seeking to reestablish even a fraction of the Flood's former glory.
The First Purge:
This is simple, and marks the beginning of the Era of Offtopic, and thus the end of the Era of the flood. This is where I, Wyoming, entered offtopic as a mere literally-who, and I remember it fondly, even though it was always a mere figment of the once great Floodian Collective. Soon though, Bungie wanted to wipe clean the slate of unused Alt and Troll accounts which hadn't seen action since the Silver Age of the Flood. But they used a hammer instead of a chisel to meet these ends, and almost all of the Silver-Era floodians were wiped off the map.
In this inglorious death however, was a glorious rebirth; The Land of Offtopicia, and land of survival and of the new. But that is a story for another day, and is in fact a story that is still proveeding before our very eyes.

2 RespuestasAre you able to bump up threads from a few years ago? This thread reminded me of DTL’s history of the flood volume 2

This dumpster fire hasn’t quite earned a title yet. Perhaps in time as the population matures and refines, the community will blossom. My opinion is my own and does not invoke negativity, but rather humility. The stories of old are archived, and are a very real period of good humor and creativity. The future is bright, but none no how far, or how long, this promised return to glory may be.

Yes. My spooky stories are a fairly accurate retelling of the modern history
