THE REASON WHY D2 ARMOR (generally) SUCKS ESPECIALLY HELMETS/CLOAKS
Back in D1, what was your favorite armor/helmet? Was it the Jackel Set from Trials of Osiris? How about the Warpriest armor from the Kingsfall Raid? Or Willbreaker Cloak from Crota's End?
Wanna know why they were all awesome? THEY WEREN'T ROUND.
A lot of D2 Armor are unnecessarily round, especially the Year 1 stuff. Curse of Osiris Armor, Gensym Scribe Armor, Black Armory Armor(s), Parade Armor, most Eververse Armor, it's like an (ugly) trend!
Most of the D1 Armor were designed to make you stand out in someway, even if it was gaudy or flashy. Now there WERE armor that were round, but not nearly as much as on D2. And the best looking armor that people typically pointed out weren't that round.
This has just been my thoughts on why the armor have been bland compared to D1.

1 RespuestaBut when Trials dropped everyone has trials armour so no one stood out, everyone has CE when TDB came out so no one stood out and it just went on and on, I used to see other players that looked just like my guardian and it pissed me off. Customisation is Destiny is a joke, it always has been but it's better in D2 because you can actually change shaders for specific armour pieces as opposed to everything being one colour. Even now, it's generally only players that mix their amour pieces with hideous shaders that stand out and that's not really for the right reasons.

2 RespuestasAgreed. I cannot for the life of me understand why every Hunter armor set is like "Okay so hunters are thin and nimble? Yeah, so we got thin arms, thing legs, a small head. AND A MASSIVE BEERGUT" I honestly think they just check the female hunter looks and then just assume it looks fine on the male

AoT Crota set was my favorite set of all time. Nothing can top it

In D1 I had this wicked cool setup. I had a chest armor that looked like an old English naval jacket (at least to me). I wore it with matching gauntlets and boots, and then I used the ram as my exotic. I looked some some cursed naval captain ghost monster and I LOVED it. Haven't found anything that fun in D2.

warlock - deathsinger set or rimed gear titan - kabyr (vog) set hunter - no preference, all meh imo.

1 RespuestaMeh, i dont really care for looks that much. If there's anything i learned from 5+ years on FFXI, its stats and perks come first. Now, i wont deny that "playing dress up" is part of the player experience. Im well aware of it, specially in Warframe where people cant shut up about it, but its not part of MY experience.

Yeah i definitely see some of this with the Titan sets, mostly all far too round and bulky (it was so much better in D1) Like surely we can have heavy armour that also looks form fitting and not like we'll get stuck in door frames..

Every D1 Warlock Helm I can thing of, the helmet swept outward from the front to the back. Every Helmet also had a visor in the middle, which you could imagine your character seeing through. Ths visor was practically always shrouded by the helmet itself, deliberately designed to limit your vision and hone your focus. ...supposedly, anyway. Warlocks are weird. I just can't seem to find the recessed visor in modern Warlock helmets. Honestly this is what really gets me excited for Shadowkeep, because I can finally wear a helmet that I like. I'm sure the other classes have a similar thing. It's almost like they're trying to enforce fashion trends, but that's not how fashion trends work. Edit: In particular, the Annealed Shaper Crown for Warlocks would be a pretty good "classic" warlock helmet, if the helmet swept into the upturn more cleanly, and the front section were changed to have a visible, recessed visor.

You’re totally right. All the Armor now is just a bunch of circles and ovals. Most of the Armor you actually see people use is not ovals but stuff that actually looks like Armor and has sharp lines and cool features. There’s a whole subreddit dedicated to cool destiny armor sets called r/DestinyFashion and that’s where I was able to find good armor pieces to go and get myself. It’s a shame how limited we are to good looking armor and how tough it can be to actually find the better ones. Making your character look awesome is an element of D1 that I’ve always missed. Glad I was finally able to get that experience this season, thanks to the abundance of power levelling stuff that’s in the game now. I hate how expensive infusing is though. It can cost up to 32,000 glimmer to buy the resources from Spider and infuse stuff. Absolutely absurd.

I caught a look of what looks like Titan raid armour on a monitor in the ViDoc and I swear to god if it looks like that I’ll forgive the vomit we’ve had to deal with for the most part.

1 RespuestaMost of the Hunter helmets are great. The rest of the armor is trash. The Vanguard Dare is really close to looking good. Warlock helmets are good but the rest of the armor is trash. Maybe except a chest piece I got from IB. Titans,...........the armor all around just sucks to no end. As much as I try I cant find 1 decent piece that makes my titan look good. Reverie armor is somewhat decent when its the arms and chest but Titans need a severe makeover.

1 RespuestaIt makes sense. A lot of the D2 armour lacks intricate detail as seen on y1 trials of osiris gear, moments of triumph raid gear etc. It would make sense from bungie’s perspective too. Simpler/smoother armours are quicker to design and don’t take up as much space in game files.
