According to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, Anthem failed due to players expectations.

Expecting a game to load and not be broken beyond belief is so unfair.
Sorry Andy. My bad.

1 RespuestaThey downgraded visuals....horribly. they pulled a ubisoft.

That's not what caused Anthem's struggles. BioWare fixed those problems in near-record time. What caused Anthem's ultimate issues is the expectation that you can buy a $60 game....and play it for 8 hours a day....and not run out of things to do. An expectation that is being promoted and fueled by streamer/ content creator culture. So Wilson is "partially" correct. But no responsible CEO is going to go before the press and air the company's dirty laundry. That would be a violation of his fiduciary responsibility to EA's shareholders. So expecting him to get out there and say: 1. The game failed because we forced BioWare to use an engine horribly suited ot the kind of game they wanted to make. 2. The game failed because BioWare lacked the experience in this kind of game to design a viable end-game, and its internal leadership problems led to a chaotic and ultimately rushed development process. 3. The game failed because we pushed it out the door before it had been properly polished and QA-tested. No. A good CEO is going to do exactly what he did. Defend his people to the public....and emphasize the reasons for failure that weer outside of their control.....while dealing with the problems that WERE in their control privately and outsize of public view.

..... They do realize that they built up those expectations?
-
1 RespuestaSo what I’m hearing is that our already very low expectations should have been even lower? Setting a great standard for BioWare...
-
Next EA is going to say that they aren’t called loot boxes, they are surprise mechanics. Oh wait...

Editado por CatMan: 6/23/2019 6:39:45 AMWell people shit on ME A and it's a pretty fun game. Only bad parts was the faces....and the occasional glitch.....and that consultant they hired (same one trying to -blam!- up cyber punk 2077). BUT hell no....anthem isn't on us. They had nothing In place or in development the during the first E3 reveal. That footage was fake. They straight up lied to fans...but it's our fault? -blam!- that. Edit:aaaaaaaand another development studio shutdown.
-
WOW This is probably the most -blam!-ed up thing I've seen on the net all year. The last time I logged onto Anthem ( 2 months ago ), I was hitt with multiple disconnections, server errors, and glitches, that the game was basically unplayable. And that does not include the fact that when you complete the campaign, there's no end game content ( so to speak ). And the loot situation was abysmal. I enjoyed my time with the campaign, and I feel the IP has potential as a solo player Adventure/RPG. But as games as a service/shared world shooter/loot based game, Anthem is sorely lacking. Maybe Bioware should probably stay in their lane when they make their next game instead of trying to do things that they aren't good at.

Another so-called Destiny killer bites the dust.
-
It's my fault, and the fault of millions of other players: we didn't buy it. Nuestra maxima culpa.
-
1 Respuestaour expectations were built around minimal standards and around the gameplay bioware and EA showed off which turned out to be fake
-
3 RespuestasHe’s right that gamers often have unrealistic expectations. But in the case of Anthem that’s not what the problem was. The problem with Anthem is that it was a hobbled together, unfinished mess that probably needed another year in development. That’s all on BioWare for their ineptitude and EA for forcing it out the door when it wasn’t ready.

Editado por A Simple Farmer: 6/22/2019 12:45:12 PMIt's Portland's fault in particular I meant offtopic but Portland works too
-
Of course American CEO's are gonna deflect. Knowing this country, EA will probably get subsidized next quarter with our tax money for any losses. I mean it's our fault anyway, right?
-
Haha anthem 🤣🤣
-
Sorry that your game's shit lol
-
Most companies are going the cheap watered down route now. People who really enjoy games will pay for premium content and updates. Bad thing is people will pay a large amount for the watered down version too. I guess strong DLC or game is not necessary anymore. One good video and media in your back pocket is all it takes.
-
It failed because they made it look way better on gamely trailers and game trailers. Then shipped the game with a quarter of what was shown. But still it is players fault because we had high expectations, no we had expectations of what was originally shown off.
-
1 RespuestaHow can an company like EA be so shameless? For years and years they keep making terrible business decisions. Up until the point it was voted the worst company in America... ...TWICE!!
-
Anthem failed due to players expectations.
You mean the expectations they put into place? The ones where they lied over and over about what kind game it was? Where the so-called demo wasn't even the actual game? Where the developers didn't even know what they were making themselves before they saw the 'demo'? That's the players fault somehow. It's just amazing to see the logic these idiots use to try and justify an absolute mess of a release. Where having basic functionality is a unrealistic expectation. Here's an idea for our friend Mr. Wilson. Don't attack the fanbase, what's left of it, and the game might have a future. Shut your money grubbing mouth breather and focus on destroying the game industry like you've been doing along with the rest of your lackeys. It's the only thing you seem good at. Sorry for the rant I'm just so f--king tired of these a-holes blaming the players.
-
LMFAO! puts out a boring game. blames players for expecting it to be entertaining. 😂😂😂
-
Sorry Andy. My bad.
This hit more than expected, ngl.
-
1 RespuestaBruh. Ok, EA, I see how it is. Blame your inability to create a good game on us....
-
Yeah, because we all know gaming companies would never make a huge bunch of promises about a game when they debut it that they know they can't keep right?
-
Lol EA is so smart
-
Well darn diddly dipshits. Wouldja look at that. Ok lesson learned EA, I'll stop expecting games to be actually playable right at release.
