See, that is one thing I've never understood. I don't know where people got the assumption that we have rights here. We don't, because this is a business owned website and if anything goes wrong, Bungie can bear the liability on it, so they are not going to risk their business and their profits just so that way a bunch of people can feel "special".
Being here, interacting with other people, that is a privilege and are abuse of that privilege can be taken away at a moment's notice. Personally, because I have people that I've become friends with And I feel a sense of community here, I would rather not see that taken away from me, even though I have given a number of people my email address and my gamertag.
And I feel a sense of community here, I would rather not see that taken away from me,
That, there, is why you see some old members as cranky. They've lost that sense, and yearning for when they had it is what causes this. I was like that- still am- but one cannot blind themselves from the community that is now here. To answer your original question in your first post: We are doing something. We are supporting topics we like, quietly supporting new members we like without them ever knowing. We are talking about b.old, hoping to rebuild that community sense despite the lack of organization. At least, that's how I feel. Whether or not that is explicitly true is something else.

I see that part, where ya'll reply to us noobs, lol, but I mean more along the lines of not making actual posts of your own. I also understand your sense of loss over friends and I wish that they had not left, but in some ways, and this is personal opinion here, it feels like a lot of the old users are drawing a line in the sand between old & new and not fully embracing this community. Being an actual older/middle aged person, swimming in a sea of young bloods, for me, it is a difficult thing. I can't always relate to what they say and they change so fast, lol. I try though, I try to keep up and enjoy their camaraderie. I enjoy the hell out of a lot of the old users replies, it usually cracks me up the of give a -blam!-s they have to give! Mind you, I am not trying to come down on ya'll, you have to do your thing and what I am saying is more my thoughts and questions and are not meant to be rude or upsetting.
it feels like a lot of the old users are drawing a line in the sand between old & new and not fully embracing this community.
That's what I was referencing when I say that old members are blinding themselves when they yearn for the older days. I am still that way, however there are new users that I do enjoy seeing here. I will agree with Cobra though, the parodies of parodies of a parody people don't even remember the origins of do get quite annoying. And the bi-monthly popularity contests. There is certainly a sense of community here, though I do not feel it. And some I would rather do without, but you take the good with the bad.

My name is Cobravert, and I approve of the last 3 posts CrazyT has made in this thread. It's all on point to what I see here, and what it all has fallen from. There is no comparison of B.old's Flood and Community to B.next's #Offtopic. When Bungie changed the rules and moderation, the place literally went to hell. It took them an entire year to admit that what they had done was a huge mistake (which they never actually verbally admitted) by re-implementing 'some' rules, and restricted ninja presence. Over time they have had to make more and more retractions to the B.old rules and format, (BEGONE WHITE SCREEN OF DOOM!!!) that they changed from, because they wanted Destiny's forum to be 'different'. Had they stayed with the old format, far fewer people would have been lost not only from here, but from the game. It was the whole Community aspect that kept so many of us playing Bungie games, even when we did not like the game they had out. Reach for example. Many of us really didn't like what they did to Halo with it, but stayed and played because that's where all our friends still were. Our Private Groups were our online families. Many of which splintered, fragmented, dissolved entirely for the B.next groups were nothing like B.old group pages. Now, it's difficult to find reasons to stay. What little good content is posted is drown out by all the garbage of people with no regard for keeping the spam content down, and don't care. Little do they realize that if they keep it up, all that will be left here is them and other like them all competing for that "internet famous forum stardom" that none of them will give each other, for they all want it, and subsequently will all eventually leave themselves, making this place even more dead than it is. In other words, they're killing what's left of this forum, and they don't even know it.
-
BEGONE WHITE SCREEN OF DOOM!!!
Seriously though, what were they thinking? I remember one user claiming that despite the brightness the update was Bnet's version of "the Darkness" and that b.old was the "golden age". The was like, the final straw. Just how utterly blinding that color was. It's been seared into my brain.

Ok, but see there, why not make a post about that and talk to these young folks about it? They do look up to B.old users and to old farts in general. I get that this place is different, but what I do not understand is why not try to make it better? Why not help to create more of a community, especially if that is what you all miss. I mean no, it won't be what it was, but it could be something good.

Editado por Cobravert: 4/9/2019 1:15:25 PM
Ok, but see there, why not make a post about that and talk to these young folks about it? They do look up to B.old users and to old farts in general.
Because we (I know I have) tried many times before. None of them care much less listen. They don't care how long anyone has been here, and rightly so. It shouldn't make that much difference. But many of them seem to think that this is "their" sandbox. It ain't. We all share it. I'm just sick of the newer kids acting like cats in a sandbox. I'm sure you know what I mean.
I get that this place is different, but what I do not understand is why not try to make it better?
Tried, and tried, and tried. You give up after little to no contribution from others.
Why not help to create more of a community, especially if that is what you all miss
Ever see one of our threads have any staying power? Once in a great while you'll see someone with a new / fun idea, but it goes to the bottom of the thread list because it's wholly ignored because the thread author isn't "popular person of the week", or the thread requires some actual thought instead of the 3 seconds most give any thread post to make them giggle at a meme or other idiotic nonsense.
I mean no, it won't be what it was, but it could be something good.
I don't think any of the old guard expect it to be. All we want is for it to be something good again, but we can't do it without everyone contributing and not trying to copy everyone else's dumb threads intentionally making them dumber. That's not 'fun'. That's spam. The reason it will never end or get better is because the rules are and have been way too lax. What little rule upholding there has been gets met with whining, crying, and tantrums - just because their thread being locked?!?!?!?!? THAT'S INSANE!!!!!!!!!!! It needs to end. If people had to work as hard at making a quality troll thread today as they did before (back to B.old), they'd actually feel accomplishment when it goes over well. Now any idiot can make a qsedijfweo;ifhwdghwudghbwudgf thread (literally that, I've seen too many) and have no concern of being moderated. They aren't remotely trying to be creative, resourceful, nor a part of anything.

Yeah, there is an abundance of what you have said, but when Cell tried to start the appreciation day, the Old Guard claimed it was just a look at me post and as one person put it, a circle jerk. Is it partly a popularity contest? Sure, but it also made some folks realize they are seen by names they know. It made them feel real & that they mattered, which was also a very good thing! Cobra, you and I have had several very wonderful conversations over the last couple of years, but you guys come off as, "We are the Old Guard and you will never be as good as us!" These are kids and people who get their dander up at being looked down on. It is all about the approach and honestly, I have not seen much approach over the last 4 years. It just sounds like grumpy old men saying git off my lawn. I watch a lot of these younger b.new types say how cool it is everytime one of the "Ancient Ones" interacts with them. All I am saying is, maybe a different approach is needed, a gentler hand. Instead of telling them it is low effort, make some posts talking about how it was stricter and how much better it felt to pull off a badass troll that should have gotten you banned. Send out a few links in PM and bump it yourself about 4-6 times. Maybe it will inspire them to do better! Finally, I do understand the I give up feeling. I tell myself that constantly, that I give up. Yet I always drag myself back, because I hated hearing that "In a perfect world speech, we can all do it", yet zero effort was put forth to cause that change, so now I push for it. As tired and sore as I am, as beaten down and defeated as I feel, I will do my best to embody that change I want to see until I lay down for that final time.
but when Cell tried to start the appreciation day, the Old Guard claimed it was just a look at me post and as one person put it, a circle jerk.
I do not recall this thread. Appreciation for what?
"We are the Old Guard and you will never be as good as us!"
Never the intent. If I do sound that way, could be in how I worded something, but never what I'm going for, unless it's someone who made a post that warranted retribution.
All I am saying is, maybe a different approach is needed, a gentler hand. Instead of telling them it is low effort, make some posts talking about how it was stricter and how much better it felt to pull off a badass troll that should have gotten you banned.
You must not have seen them, but there have been many efforts to do so in the past that were basically kicked int he nuts by the kids who don't care. I remain, for I try to help those I can, which I have done numerous times before. But as a whole, the group/forum is a loss if there isn't more concentrated effort by all to make it better. Many of the spammiest don't want that for it takes their attention away.

User Appreciation Day, sorry, I was on the verge of passing out and must have skipped the word entirely.

Yeah, that stuff does get old. I figure that if someone likes me, cool. If not, oh well. I am here to have fun and relax, but the parody of a parody of a parody of a parody's parody........overkill. some of these folks just try too hard, they need to just relax and have fun. I do laugh at your TMZ thing though, lol. I find that hilarious 😂.
but the parody of a parody of a parody of a parody's parody........overkill. some of these folks just try too hard
... Oof...
not included in the DLC
Sorry ULC, but it is true, some folks around here try to hard. They have not learned that as long as you are a good person, you can just be you and be loved. There are things to try hard for. Like if you come up with a funny idea, try hard to write it out well, but do not try hard to be funny.

... Damn Xombie, gettin all wise and stuff on me...
not included in the DLC
What can I say, I am special sometimes.....
short bus special!
Glad you like it, some people don't but oh well!

It definitely had me laughing way too hard the first time I read it! I was not expecting it, which is something I enjoy, that unexpected zinger, lol.
