Lets talk Game modes the most importent part of the pvp side of things,
As far as i could tell the main reason why the D2 crucible seen is a dumpsterfire compared to that of D1 crucible is a simple one, at this present time the crucible boasts the quick play playlist which is a 50 50 coin toss of control and clash, ie the shooter genre bread and butter game modes that you can find in almost any FPS to date, however these game modes ARE NOT what made the d1 crucible special
In my opinion the main playlists that ALWAYS sparked my interest in d1 were the following.
Mayhem, Mayhem Rumble, Supremacy, Mayhem supremacy (idk if it was a thing i forget)
And of course Iron banner, also my interest in the crucible didn't really show up until about year 3, but all of these game modes were FUN
The main reason the crucible is still not fun is because bungie is still trying to low key push the Esports bs that they tried in year one, WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE FUN GAME MODES YOU WERE PUTTING IN
Like THE SCORCH CANNON GAME MODE
nah you know thats not fun but do you know what is ? OH I KNOW LOCK DOWN WHICH IS JUST MORE COMPETITION ESPORT'S BS
I don't play pvp to get pub stomped in your average pvp gamemode that i can literally find IN ANY OTHER GAME ON THE MARKET
I. WANT . TO . BLAST . PEOPLE . WITH . FIREBALLS . AND . THROW. MORE. GRENADES.
Can we at LEAST get an INFECTION GAME TYPE
Skill be damned, I want a unbalanced and FUN series of game types,

You say all players and don't mention a single competitive mode aside from IB. Good job at excluding a large portion of PvP players.

2 RespuestasEditado por Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 3/24/2019 1:58:42 AMIt’s not fun for all players. Many people don’t want to ever touch it. The best way to make it fun for the people that like it is to stop imposing quest steps and to stop limiting weekly progression as part of it. I’m that player that no one wants on their team. Every time the power cap increases I venture into the crucible, and now Gambit, and since the powerful drops require completions, my goal is to make sure the match ends as quickly as possible because I don’t want to be there. Even if that means helping my team lose. I do not care about winning. I do not care about rank. Sorry not sorry, but it’s an incredibly unreasonable and impractical practice on their part. Individual player investments and team competition are fundamentally opposing things. They do not belong together. As long as they insist on requiring PvP play for any character progression or quests steps, it will always be incredibly unbalanced. The only reason anyone should ever be on a team in a completion is because they chose to be there because they like the completion. That’s it. Any other reason is the opposite of the spirit of competition and is a detriment to it.

Supremacy is trash. It’s either both teams death balling around holding dicks. Or it’s a random fustercluck of shotguns Mayhem/mayhem rumble are boring because it’s just a spam fest to entertain the type of people who think a good weekend is a 36hr Michael Bay marathon. What needs to come back is Rift. Rift was great

1 RespuestaClearly everyone loves Supremacy. That's why they neutered it and took it out of Quickplay.
-
I want more supremacy
-
Pvp can die already. It's ruined far too many guns and abilities to date
-
Also can we just get all of the maps for d1 imported and unchanged. Those maps were designed for 6v6 and they were just straight up better than the d2 maps
-
Bungie dev team moving to Toad Hall.

Game modes like clash and control are always the most popular and long lasting pvp modes. Game modes like mayhem and super Fiesta from halo are fun. But they're not what draws in a crowd nor what keeps one

Add faction rallies as permanent vendors all season with all year one gear added as random rolls. Add entire Y1 loot pool to planetary vendors and general loot pool with random rolls. This would improve the game more than actual new content at this point, because playing old stuff would actually reward interesting drops from time to time.

they completely dropped the ball on pvp. most games have a least 1 playlist where you just screw around. csgo has quite a few as well as halo did with action sack. they could create so many game modes that would put halo to shame in that regard. I dont think they have the ability to manage a game as complex as this one. it was designed to be heavily rng based with minimal content to make massive bottom line profit.

Bump! Totally, same for me, I didn’t get into D1 PvP until Year 3, and it was a blast. My favorite game modes were: Rift - A capture the flag style mode Combined Arms - Control Match with Vehicles in it. Bungie really needs to bring these modes back to make it fun again.

Always been confused as to why they haven't come up with more fun gametypes, even if they rotate out each week. Like why was there never a game type for the axes from rise of iron? Why did the cannon game type never come back? Why not have an ability only gametype? Why not have one to do with the javalens? Why not a melee only battle, or grenade only? Why not a tank battle, or just vehicle battle? Why not a gametype where you move really fast, or really slow, or play with jump higher? There are plenty of options that already easily exist in the game and wouldn't even require the addition of anything new, and yet they don't bother to even use that. It makes no sense. If I can list this many than surely a team of creative people can make a list double this size and implement at least a few. But no the best they seem to come up with is things like, capture the flag with a different name, and territories, with a different name. It is just plain sad.

I want to see a game mode where everything is op in one way or another. Whether it be a stat buff or ability buff, I just wanna see every gun with no limits. One hit body snipers, scout rifles that two tap, melees that reach across the map, auto rifles with insane stability and damage. I think it would be a great private match mode
