Honestly, why are we bothering?

Just got my first "powerful engram" from Ikora for the season... And what is the POWERFUL reward for grinding out 20 bounties of old content? A pair of 651 boots... Which means we'll need 8 powerful engrams to go up a single light level. Oops, I forgot. Been a while since I was on the grind. More like 20 because the next one I get will also probably be boots again. There is no protection for repeats of anything in this game. Exotic drops are all repeats and have been for some time. The last few that I need will never drop it seems. Effort is just not rewarded. Powerful engrams, and even prime engrams seem MORE likely to drop for the item that is your highest light level, not your lowest, meaning no reward for the effort of getting them. Just sold 3 prismatic shells which I carried for the whole season and never got to use because the same crap is there time and again, but nothing ever that I needed. Eververse engrams drop repeats (can't remember the last time I got something I don't have from one of them), yet there are plenty of ships, emotes etc I still need. Oh and I did one of the new gambit bounties and was rewarded with 2 blue items. lol Seriously? All this is supposed to be enough motivation to grind through the same content? I left the game towards the end of last season because the crap RNG was depressing the -blam!- out of me. I came back to see if grinding to 700 might keep me interested for a bit. Doesn't seem likely. It was fun in the beginning when I had something to play for. Thank you Bungie for making a game that I loved. But -blam!- you all for making me hate it. TL;DR This game is a dead horse and I'm not sure why I'm still flogging it.
