Lore wise, what would be your guess at how bungie will handle the transition from D2 to D3 if they was to not allow our gear/powers to carry over?
What would be your best scenario in justifying the loss of your gear/power again?
Would this influence your decision in buying D3?
Or
Do you think Bungie will allow you to retain at least some of your gear/powers this time around?
If bungie was to promise that certain gear will stay with your guardian, would this influence how you play D2 currently?
Would this scenario influence your decision in buying D3?
-My admittedly lengthy opinions below-
There are two camps of people when it comes down to these questions; those who want to carry over their gear and those who want a fresh start and begin their adventure anew. As a mmo fanboy, I personally enjoy the idea of having gear carrying over to the next story in a series.
If the game has to undergo a revamp in their systems and such however, I would then personally love the idea of at least having armor be transmogrified onto whatever i'm wearing in the new game to at least say "I was there when......".
If they was going to return weapons we possessed in the previous game, I would rather start with said weapons rather than recollecting them, but I do understand the challenges that could arise in starting a new game with powerful weapons so if they must do away with them, then I wouldn't be too upset... but bringing them back via quests and rng again would tilt me beyond reasoning. (I'm sure a lot of people felt this going from D1 to D2)
Finally, I'll be pretty happy with a clean reset of everything if we were to take a completely new direction in the Lore, like completely new supers or even a whole new overarching scenario outside of our current Traveler vs its warren enemies arc.
Side note: If we was to start clean, I'd like them to at least bring over Exotics that arrived during the last last year of that game's planned lifespan (Nemesis Star, Khvostov, Zen Meteor, Trespasser, The Thunderlord Brothers etc) since they was very new and a waste of designs because we don't play them long before the sequel comes out.
Edit note: typo fixes

3 RespuestasEasy, the Darkness arrives at the Last City and consumes it, the civilians are all saved and carried away by the Traveller, who relocates to another location on Earth. We fight valiantly alongside other Guardians but ultimately are overwhelmed by a particularly powerful Darkness Lieutenant, who knocks us down and blasts us with darkness energy before ordering us to kneel and beginning to convert us into an agent of the darkness. At which point a ridiculous amount of solar gunfire lands from above, the camera pans up to Lord Saladin and a group of Iron Lords rappelling down to secure the area. Meanwhile arc bolts begin flying at the remaining Darkness soldiers as Lord Shaxx and his redjacks arrive. The camera switches to a first person perspective as we're lying on the ground looking up at Lord Saladin & Lord Shaxx as the camera fades to black. TL:DR: Darkness arrives, City destroyed, darkness almost destroys us, breaks our gear. Vanguard also heavily injured, we're rescued by Shaxx & Saladin finally working together again.
