  • Sorry you feel that way, you're missing out. Should at least give it a try before dismissing it based on stereotypes.

Everyone has a different opinion on what is timeless. Personally, I think I’d have to say Reach is that game for me, and only for the memories associated with it. But as far as defining a ‘game of the generation’, I think you have to consider the broader culture. I don’t see Nier nor Reach having really any impact on the industry. What defines a generation is innovation. Quality doesn’t necessarily depend on how revolutionary a title is, but, as is becoming more and more the case, without anything that’s actually new the industry will stagnate.

  • You're right, everyone has their opinions but there are better ways to disagree with others opinions than calling them shit or stereotypical phrases like weeb. As far as impact goes, I'd wager to say that nier has have had more of a impact on the industry than reach with its story telling, ost and characters, and character development. Of course that will be an unpopular opinion purely because halo is just more mainstream and popular, while Nier will be dismissed as "weeb shit", so not many people would actually know that.

lol don’t take it to personally, I mostly come here to take the piss. Granted, I don’t particularly like anything with that weebly art style, but Kojima gets a pass. And I agree insofar as Reach not being better; it was definitely the weakest of the Bungie Halo titles. However, Nier’s storytelling wasn’t anything new. It has a good story, sure, but its significance doesn’t compare to a game like Zelda. While we’re talking about significance, Halo 2’s multiplayer had a marked impact on online gaming and the industry as a whole. Games like Halo and CoD would more likely fit as “games of the generation” for how they shaped the way we engage with the media. Unfortunately, with how things have been going, there’s been a serious shift away from creating artistic games. The current generation pulls its inspiration from the Fortnites and the shitty tactics of large publishers.

  • I didnt take it personal, I'm just pointing out that you cant dismiss something so easily without actually trying it yourself or take a piss on someone's opinion so casually without having a good idea of what you're taking a piss on. As far as zelda goes, while I love the game, its story is just bland. I just dont understand why it's regarded so highly no when theres been plenty of other games whose story is much better, nier being one of those in my opinion. I play zelda for the same reason I play ES l, witcher or FO, for the exploration. Now I agree with halo 2s influence on the multiplayer and shooters in general, but that was almost 2 generations ago any my argument wasnt on what game had an impact on the industry or that it even had to have an impact. It was what game has had that kind of impact on you personally. For me it was Nier this generation for the reasons I listed above. This gen so far no other game has had that kind of effect on me, and in my opinion has been robbed of it's due respect because it is a game that isn't mainstream, most consider niche and brush off as just another weeb game. It didnt have the impact because it was overshadowed by the heavily budgeted mainstream games that are causing the stagnation in the industry and games like nier get drowned out. The game is fantastic in more ways than one, but characters and their growth as well as story and the way its told is what stands out to me the most. I cant think of another game that comes close to this kind of story or the way it was told. You mentioned it wasnt unique in that sense, if you know another game like nier I'd love to know what it is so I can play it as well.
