But there are a few I feel very strongly, no matter how much research I did. Namely abortion (pro life) and Jesus Christ

I think a lot of ppl read/hear things that support their view and they go no further than that, simply taking it as fact. If we all followed up and researched what we read, especially on internet, I think we would all be better informed.

I think it might be more accurate to say that the more informed they BELIEVE they are, the stronger their opinion is.

If their opinion is grounded on fact-based evidence and they feel strongly about it, I'd argue that their opinion is well-informed, like they are. For example, someone feels strongly about soda and how it is unhealthy for individuals. Based on research, their opinion is well-informed. Another example for the other side is that if someone/a group says that all immigrants are bad or are bad for the country, and they feel strongly about that, they are basing their opinion on their emotions/lack of empathy. In this case, the person/group that has this opinion is extremely uninformed, hence their strong opinion. For others on this forum who don't want to read the whole post, skip the examples; the main point is the first sentence of the post.
