This post is comimg someone who went 2 months before getting their first. I now have 9 Forsaken exotics myself (No weapons sadly) and it sucks to see people still not have any forsaken exotics themselves because I was in the same boat as them. The ones who say exotic drop rates are fine are the ones who who got their exotics earlier than everyone elses. The ones who say getting an exotic should feel special are the ones who disregard that people can get burned out (I was getting there myself). The ones who say that exotics shouldn't be handed out like candy (I agree) neglect the fact that there are many who have been playing everyday not to get one. I think it's agreeable that those who play almost everyday should have at least one forsaken exotic by now.
Xur went a whole season being useless except for random rolls. Three of coins was removed and the fated engram doesn't give Forsaken exotics. Now that a new season has started with new exotics being intoroduced , it only makes sense the Xur would start selling Season of the Outlaw exotics, right? Wrong! For whatever reason, Xur STILL won't be selling Forsaken exotics which I honestly believe is absolutely stupid. Xur will continue to be irrelevant as long as he sells only year one exotics. The last time I bought something from him was weeks ago for insurmountable Skullfort with random rolls. That was the last time I touched him.
Xur NEEDS to sell Forsaken exotics now. It's been long enough and people are leaving because they're getting burned out. If Bungie wants to keep exotics super rare and please the people who don't want Xur to sell exotics, I have two solutions. One, just allow fated engram give out forsaken exotics now for those who completed Forsakens main campaign. Fated engrams are expensive and can only be used once a week. It would take a person 15+ weeks to get all forsaken exotics this way assuming they don't have any already and dont get any from RNG. That's a damn long time, far from being handed out like candy. This seems to be the best solution IMO. Solution two is similar in concept. Solution two is just having Xur sell ONE forsaken exotic along with the usual year one exotics. Again, it would take awhile to aquire all the forsaken exotics this way, maybe even longer.
I remember back in year one of Destiny when Xur sold the gally for the second time. The forums exploded with both happiness and disdain. Happiness from those (Such as myself) who were down on their luck not to recieve the Rocket launcher from RNG. Disdain from those who already had it because now everyone had their super rare and sought after weapon. They no longer felt special. The forums filled with posts about how they "earned" their Gjallarhorn, not buying it from Xur. Despite the fact RNG isn't earning and buying the weapon from Xur was more of actually earning it because there was a concrete way to get strange coins to buy it. I believe Bungie wants to avoid another situation like this because it would further divide the community...? Understandable I guess if that's the case. Regardless, my points above still stand. Xur needs to sell forsaken exotics in some form.
Sorry for this mini essay but this whole situation is extremely frustrating to me and I wanted to share my thoughts. What do you guys think? Leave your awnsers in the comments below.
