Just like years in university, players get better playing level competition. We improve properly against those players stage by stage. Just as a first year med student isn’t performing brain surgery. Anatomy 101 ending with clinicals.
Currently we match high vs low skilled players almost exclusively. That’s like throwing a person into the water (who can’t swim) instead of giving him swimming lessons.
Improvements happen incrementally or in the case of “the swimmer” not at all.
Imagine also a black belt who only fights with white belt learners and never his peers. The black belt gets weaker over time never fully exerting his skills and the learners have their morale decline.
How in the world are you getting better at the game by playing people worse than you? Are you afraid of losing?
Thus, demanding the preservation of the system which gives easy wins by feeding lower skilled players to the highly skilled is cowardice.

9 RespuestasEditado por Milk: 11/2/2018 4:30:11 PMJust say you want skill based matchmaking my guy... That being said, Crucible is supposed to be fun and playing sweaty tryhard games all the time isn't fun. Ya gotta take a few lumps to enjoy the smooth parts of the ride.

Editado por Forster434: 11/3/2018 6:46:30 PMI have no problem with try hard streamers wanting to plow over noobs in this game, I mean it’s fun to crush people.. I do however have a problem with them lying about it “I just wanna chill” “ I just wanna use “whatever weapon” for my stream bros” It’s a lie They’re sweating every match There is no chilling They’re stomping on good and bad players And if they run into an equal skill player who is also stomping That player is “trying to hard” and they’ll quit out of that lobby to find a noob lobby... I’m still on board with everyone in saying I want CBMM period...I wanna be stomped by some try hard loser whose fishin for recovs but atleast have a perfect connection at the end of the day I don’t wanna play Pablo from Brazil when I’m in Chicago I know 11 other people are playing in Chicago at any given time

The learning curb can be steep, and not having dedicated servers blows. I only hop in crucible for bounties, if I really have too. Most people are used to balanced multiplayer. Select locked loadouts and weapons. Or weapons to pick up on the map. So like a CoD, Halo or Battlefield. 4 v 4 or 6 v 6 is kinda boring and the game lacks the pure fun/chaos of other games.

1 RespuestaIf you want to play against skilled player competitive is there for a reason keep the sbmm nonsense out of quick play
-
15 RespuestasBungie simply needs two Quickplay choices instead of one: A CBMM choice and a SBMM choice. Let the players decide what aspect of matchmaking is more important to them personally. If you don’t like the current state of quick play, you can let Bungie know by just finishing your milestone via Rumble and staying away from Quickplay altogether. When the player numbers go low enough, they might choose to do something. But as long as players are content with playing the role of human sacrifice, they won’t change.

6 RespuestasThis here in itself is true to the word's of most community members, i myself just experienced a one sided game, aside from the fact both teams were comepletely random, it was more in the ridiculousness of the mode being quickplay, and the enemy team itself having 4 players in which two had luna's, two with not forgotten, and two just running their best trusts, and to specify more 4 hunter 3 being blade barrage, and 1 being arc strider, the warlocks themselves being nova warps. This ensured their victory alone from the fact that the people in my team had less experience than they had, and the fact that they expected a fun match or a fair one aside from getting stomped into the ground instead.

Been reading the comments no surprise people are missing the point. The destiny community mostly comprises of unenlightened dimwis.

1 RespuestaI just ran with a 5 stack of high skilled players in casual yesterday. Never lost, never even came close to it. Never faced a team of more than 3. Nearly every match was just us spawn killing the enemy and forcing a flip. I've never had that easy of a time. I'll also never run with a stack like that again. There's no competition in it.

2 RespuestasEditado por Divine_Majin93: 11/3/2018 2:31:31 PMIsn't that what the competitive matchmaking playlist is for? The SBMM in it seems to be working what with all the pissing and moaning on these forums.

2 RespuestasWhat I'm mainly focused on, is why I still play a game I know I'm going to lose in, be on top of my team, and never get lunas.
-
Idk I never get matched up with a full team of equals to me half the time. There is however one good player on the opposite team alot and that's who i chase after simply because the rest of the team is shit and it feels more accomplishing to put an end to his or her spree of my team. Theres been matches since d1 where it was basically just me and the opposite equal to me and the other 2 on both teams were just stat farms. I'm just 1.52 so I'm pretty casual it's not a 2.0 or 5.0 as far as I've seen them but nonetheless I didnt like SBMM because of the hand holding in vanilla d2. Didnt care for SBMM in d1 as I at least had the ttk to 1v1 people and go after the next without having to hold hands The best examples of me overcoming others similar to me in a full team has happened only when I stack. For some reason wheneve i stack i get a stack back on the enemy team or get randoms who are just so conveniently same stats. Good times only one of those teams beat us but it was because 2 goons on my team didnt follow directions when I said they are farming with heavy spawns and that stupid wardiff coil lol. I'm still a casual tho

43 RespuestasYea it's because being matched up with equals means kd will probably fall and or not go up as easily. Sweatier games the better you get. No fun when sometimes you wanna chill. Honestly they should just have two playlists for this. Simple fix. Maybe it won't stop the top tier players from joining CBMM lists but adding incentive to the SBMM lists will keep the tryhards at bay
-
Well there's a long winded way of saying that you want SBMM back.

2 RespuestasEditado por Stormageddon924: 11/3/2018 1:38:27 AMits true, in sports if you keep playing against trash teams, you wont get any better, that is why they progress to college and then pro. but i have been noticing a lot of so called "elite" players in this game, just dont want to go against other "elite" players Edit: You dont sharpen a knife with softer materials

8 RespuestasEditado por TJ_Dot: 11/2/2018 6:15:20 PMI doubt a black belt would get so much worse because he fought white belts considering how much time he spent getting there. The worst that would happen is just growing exhausted from energy spent. That's like saying Senseis that are teaching by sparring will fail at fighting another because the student is "weakening" them. Skill is developed through learning, so unless you actually forget things, anything beneath you cannot actually make you worse/affect your decision making. An easy case I can think of is spending so much time on easy in Halo campaigns that you forget how brutal legendary is and just get sniped for days because you're so not used to it, buuut if you're able to not forget that, then you'll know caution on higher difficulties and still be fine, maybe a little rusty, but otherwise fine. If you're not good, to begin with, then your best chance of improving against those better than you is a matter of learning what you did wrong or what they're doing that you aren't. Aim is something that you can only get as good as your body can, and decision making is more in the mind. If you're able to learn well enough then you can improve either part of your performance, but everyone has a limit. SBMM does nothing to help you improve, your skills aren't some obnoxious experience bar that you can level up. How are you supposed to feel better when every match would be rigged to a 50% win ratio, you would never know. Everything is a struggle and you'll feel only demoralized by the end if you didn't win the coin toss enough times. The factors have to remain random as that then demands adaptability, which is the ultimate trait for survival. If you took one of the 'best' players in the game who uses the meta weapons exclusively and gave them the worst, you can really test their strength because they'll be forced to adapt. If they can't at all then maybe they aren't so great. Would many people feel great about their invasion kills if they were banned from using Sleeper (or I guess all LFRs now), probably not because they could never hit from so far without the assist (So they avoid snipers). I can keep going really.

5 RespuestasEditado por DuBChiri2: 11/2/2018 5:22:14 PMSkill isn't something you should categorize by. Skill varies and more often than not it's inflated due to the weapons used and the exotics equipped. I bet a lot of scrubber players who have lunas howl now are getting their kd inflated beyond how they actually perform. Imagine being one of those players that think they are hot shit, but as soon as they get put into a match with someone considered "equal skill level," they would get absolutely annihilated. With sbmm, that's pretty much what most of the players you would be matched with during year one. Players who weren't actually at your skill level, but they performed similarly because of the weapons they used. Not to mention you can still farm your kd if you do it right. It's always a thing. With regards to cowardice...how do you define cowardice? In real life, if you face a person better than you, but you ask for a redo or something of the sort, isn't that real cowardice? How is saying that you don't want to go against people better than you not cowardice? I go against players better than myself all the time, it's not uncommon, but to me, I won't get any better only playing against those of a similar skill level, I will only get better playing against better players. I don't mean like top tier players, but ones that know more and perform better. In real life, you may improve with practice, but in let's say a martial art, you DON'T want to practice against someone who is the same skill as you when you just start off, you want somebody who is experienced who can show you different things, who can show you what it means and what it looks lime to BE good. If you are playing crucible for fun, you should be playing for fun. I understand how it's unfair to go against players better than you, but it's going to never stop being a thing. Playing against your own skill level is ideally what most would want, but being unwilling to go against those better than you is, how you termed it, cowardice. You will almost always run into someone better than you are. It's going to happen. When I see "better" players being called cowards for not wanting to always play their own skill level, it's also the "not as good players" asking that they don't go against better players. You are only a coward if you ask for these things, if you purposely try to pick a fight with the people you should handicap, or expect the one to give you a handicap to give you that handicap. I think pairing those of similar player "skill" is how it should be in comp, but telling better players that they should only be allowed to play better players is hypocritical. Because the response from them would instantly be, "you just want to play players not as good as we are so that YOU can have fun," with regards to quickplay. Better players can only fight better players, but the not as good players should only be allowed to fight the not so good players. Playing at the higher levels gets old and it's too stressful. "I don't want to play against full fireteams of lunas howl," well then feel some sympathy for the higher KD players. That's all it would be for them.

Never facing like skilled players is false. I play against a variety of skilled players many of which who are around my skill level.

I looked at your glory and understand the true nature of your post. I would think the glass would be half full for you though. Instead of a veiled complaint, perhaps you can get better by beating the better competition....

1 RespuestaWhat you are asking is what we wont get as they are pretty much set in letting D2 ride out as is. What we need is a pre match visibility of who we are playing and to decide if we want to slog through that lobby and get better or simply back out and search again. Although depending on how well D2 sells during Xmas season they may crank SBMM to the max to draw new players in and have them keep playing then dial it back down to avoid riots once the sales figures are in.

As Destiny’s worst ever PvP player... Can I say that I’m always playing better players than I am lol. I get thrashed but, when I have that decent game, I take pride in the thought that I always try my hardest and occasionally it works out for me. I can’t be afraid of losing. If I was, I’d never play at all.

9 RespuestasI agree SBMM needs to return to quickplay I haven't touched pvp in weeks as its just not fun... and from I hear its gotten worse and looking at the numbers on warmind.io well pvp has less people playing it now than pre-forsaken!!

8 RespuestasNo actually, quite the contrary. If an average or below average player, plays a higher skilled player they will slowly catch on to what that good player does to perform well. Such as game sense, sliding, strafing, an a casual crouch shot, baiting chokepoints and such. Once that average player sees more and more of this, there is a good chance they wil catch on and perform these techniques.
-
1 RespuestaEven the best players will lose to a well coordinated slightly above average team full of players who on an individual level are objectively worse, but since there’s 4 of them and only one of you, they win. Until that’s fixed, competitive will continue to remain a joke and only those who are lucky enough to find 3 players with a similar KD as them will ever make progress on their Glory.
-
I know this is shocking, but people play video games in a manner that is conducive to their enjoyment. Wanting to be better than your opponent isn't cowardice. Everyone wants to be better than their opponent. You stated as much in your post. This is why you strive to 'get better'. So your argument then boils down to 'those who don't care about getting better at video games are cowards'. Which is, you know, an interesting theory. I'll not remark on what that says about you, but it may be something you want to ponder.

11 RespuestasWhat you want will not happen again. HIgher level people do not want to face competition. That's just the way it is.
