Gambit matchmaking

Whenever i play gambit solo i seem to come up against full 4 stack teams about a third of the time when our side has a double at most. I dont know if im an anomaly here but it is a bit annoying, honestly i wouldn't mind having to wait another 30 seconds before games start so this doesn't happen.

  • I played for 3 hours straight. 4 stack vs all solos every single game, I checked. This is -blam!-, there's no point even playing.

  • Aside of matchmaking, the most ridiculous thing is that you are getting matched over and over against the same 4 stack no matter how bad they beat unless you quit the queue and start over. Could it be possible at least to breakdown the lobby like in crucible.

    Yesterday after a week pause I played a few gambit games to find out if the patch did change anything (of course it did not - quest spawn was never seen). But every game was against a 4 or 3 stack on the other side. My side was always solos. So you think to yourself: If there are that many stacks, why not put them against each other? Well, I know the answer. This is called the "friendship bonus" or "friendship endame". The moment you group up, Bungie basically hands you every win and reward. And ppl know that it is true. Why else would every Luna owner tell you "I did it solo" :)

    • I like when I join a gambit match and the first rounds already half way done with 65 motes in the enemy teams possession while my team which only has two potato bois carrying a grand total of 6 motes between them (not deposited yet). Those are my favorite gambits because they are an automatic loss and with the new punishment system, I have to sit through it and waste my precious time. Another favorite thing of mine is when you get the "Your team has enough motes, bank those motes and summon a Primeval!" We all go back to the mote deposit spot and yet one potato boi is still out there killing adds and trying to get 15 motes when all we need is 1.

      The matchmaking in Gambit is arguably the worst in the game this side of competitive (perhaps there isn't enough Gambit data OR players to have it work the right way for now?). I'll load into a match, Round one staging area and it's just me against a 4 stack...I mean, thanks Bungie for the ego boost (I didn't do that poorly against them actually).... More often than not I get sided with potatoes that have no idea what they are doing. Had a match last night "Bank those motes and summon" kid had 6 -blam!-ing motes and proceeded to collect 15 before he deposited wasting enough time for the opposing team to catch up.

      • Eventually you are going to realize that they are deliberately choosing which team wins. They've been doing this for ages. They're not going to stop now. Otherwise they would have instituted a system requiring teams to be matched against other teams of similar size a long time ago. They matchmake stacked teams against random players because they want to garuntee the team a win. Always have, and I don't see them stopping. They want you to go to lfg and find a fireteam and they're punishing you for not playing their objectively antisocial game socially.

      • Yeah, they really need to match stacks against stacks in gambit. Team communication and the ability to pick coordinated loadouts is a fairly insurmountable advantage. You can't really compete against a four stack that has a damage multiplier like melting point or tractor cannon, one guy with a well, and two others with damage supers. Not with random loadouts.

      • It's gotten to the point where I just want the matches to be over as quick as possible. I still try...just not as hard as I first did. The whole 2 out 3 rounds needs to go.

      • I would suggest your figure of a third is optimistic, almost every match i get put up against a 4 stack, in one particularly infuriating instance we were up against a four stack, on the third round and were destroying our primeval and.... ...Black screen, kicked to orbit, then add insult to injury i get the warning about quitting matches. On the rare occasion i am not put up against a full fireteam, i am with complete retards who seem completely incapable of understanding the basic concept of the game mode - not every deposit has to be 15 pissing motes. They have put the quitter sanctions in place for good reason, but there is absolutely no incentive provided to make you want to stay even if you are losing. At this point, I (and i am sure many others) have reset my infamy twice and the only reason i continue to play this god forsaken (excuse the pun) mode is for the meatball.

      • With the number of concurrent players https://warmind.io/activity there's simply no excuse for such poor quality unbalanced matchmaking. None whatsoever. But it's easier to add quitter penalties back than provide a balanced and enjoyable experience for both teams in a match.

        I play solo almost all the time. I can honestly say that I've found the Gambit matchmaking to be very good lately. My team doesn't win every time, but it's better than 50:50 and my random team mates normally know what they're doing. Maybe I've just been lucky.

      • My team of randoms destroyed a four stack. To those people who give up, Just saying it can be done. My opinion is thank god it has matchmaking, it could quite easily be another piece of content that requires lfg and a full interview process complete with “must have 100 victories, I will be checking” .

          • Yeah it happens to me pretty consistently as well. Feels bad. But so does gambit. Honestly once I get the malfeasance, I will likely not ever play it again. I already have a top tiered Bygones and Trust. Unless they really fix this mode, people will basically forget it exists.

              last night was a 4 stack - played a 4 stack (Lost) was a 4 stack - played a 3 stack (lost) was a 4 stack - played the same players from above 3 stack (lost) got out of que was a 4 stack - played probably randoms (won) and got Meatball (won) changed character - was a 4 stack - I think played randoms again (won) now mind you, I was frustrated beyond belief that clanmates would be so bad and lose so much because IMO, when I run solo, I tend to win and win regularly - or at least feel like I do. Even running as a 2 Feel that I win more often than when playing in a full stack. Case in point - the night before - was with 1 clanmate - got 8 together, get into orbit - 2 leave. Upon spawn it is myself and clanmate vs. 4 stack. We could have checked out but instead we stayed - YUP, Won the match as well 2-1. We lost the first round but it was close (clanmate takes blame for going to invade as opposed to staying and using Chaos Reach to melt primevil) I ended up with 99 enemy kills and 99 motes banked with 0 motes lost for the match. it was a hell of a way to end the night. looked up stats - two night ago as a 2 stack 3-1 record, last night as a 4 stack 2-3 record. Just saying is all.

            • Same thing here. I also noticed if I go in with a team of four I get matched against solos.
