I am not one to post in forums, as a matter of fact this is my first post ever in a Bungie forum. Since there is no true way to contact Bungie directly, this is more or less an open letter to Bungie from what has been a very loyal customer of theirs for the past three years. A quick bit of backstory, I purchased the PS4 TTK bundle when it was released 09/15/2015 and have been playing Destiny exclusively since. In that time period I have seen many online and IRL friends stop playing based on myriad reasons; stagnant game-play, terrible RNG, forced grinding, etc. I have never been as frustrated or infuriated with anything going on in this franchise until now. The exotics drop rate is absolutely abysmal and makes the game feel completely broken. Getting down to it’s brass tacks, this is a rewards based game. I am personally having a hard time justifying wasting what precious little time I have during the week to play this game grinding through the same strikes / story missions / PvP modes / etc. just to be let down every time I get my powerful “reward”. Since the release of TTK I have never truly considered putting this game down or picking up a new game, but, the past few weeks of compounding disappointments has taken pretty much all drive I have to pick up the game out of me. This new expansion feels like Bungie has actively chosen to completely cast aside the casual player who simply cannot play for hours on end every day. I understand that Bungie is supposedly making exotic drops weighted more heavily towards new exotics 10/30, but, made no mention of buffing the drop rate overall that I have seen. It has been weeks since my last exotic drop, and, it feels like this is a concerted effort on the decision makers at Bungie’s behalf to artificially inflate game-play numbers. Knowing that everyone wants the new exotics, yet, making them nearly impossible to obtain keeps people grinding this game ever hopeful that they will eventually be blessed with that elusive new exotic. In my small circle of Destiny players I am far from the only one that has these complaints. Although a few players have been lucky enough to get some new exotics to drop, the vast majority of us are feeling the sting of constant disappointment. I know that this complaint has been made consistently since the release of Forsaken, and, that this is by no means a new complaint. That is something that bothers me as much about all of this as anything else, the majority of your players are upset with this yet nothing has been done to address the issue. I for one am right on the brink of putting this game down for good. I have enjoyed playing the game for the past three years, and, sincerely hope that significant changes are made in the immediate future to keep me (and others like me) from jumping ship. Playing this game should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience and quite frankly, at this point, it is not.
