The Scorn are clearly worshippers of Darkness, believing death is their sword. In the Dreaming City, we see Hive and Taken fighting against the Scorn. Why would that be if they all worship the same thing and fight for it? My only idea is since Hive must kill as much as they can, the Scorn still fall under this. Any thoughts?

The Scorn's power isn't Light or Dark, its kinda meant to flip both of them off for forsaking the Eliksni

3 RespuestasThe Vex “worshipped” the Darkness, too, but that doesn’t make them allies of the Hive. Hell, the Darkness could end up killing them both off in an attempt to create its perfect universe.

The taken fight everything because they have been drained off all light, and left with pure darkness, they seek to destroy the light and anything with the light, the hive fight the other races because of the sword logic
-
In the sword logic, you are SUPPOSED to fight and kill. If you die, you deserve to, and those who survive move ever closer to the final shape. D1 lore. Delicious.

Why do Hive fight the Fallen? Why do Taken fight the Fallen?
-
Because worshipping the Darkness doesn’t mean they are loyal to each other. The ethos of the Darkness is survival of the strongest, period. Case in point. The Hive fight and kill each other to take their power and position. We see that with Oryx and his siblings and the lesser ascendant Hive below them. The Worm Gods trick and deceive the Hive and even attempt move against them. The Taken are pawns. Rules by whoever is strongest. So the Scorn fighting the Hive/Taken makes perfect sense.

The Scorn don’t necessarily worship the darkness, they just use it. Think of them like the Shadows of Yor, only thing is that the Scorn are just out there to burn the world down with this power. The Shadows of Yor (or at least some of em) have an intention to try and save the city using powers not borne of light. Think of them like Demon Hunters or Death Knights from Warcraft. Their powers are “dark”, but with enough restraint they save the world. As for the Hive and Taken, they are bound by both Sword Logic and Savathûn. Anything that ain’t Hive or Taken is their enemy. And that enemy must be crushed beneath their boot. Or...devoured. Or brutally tortured. Or turned into a monster. Yeah you get the point about them.

<The Scorn are like that asshole cousin you don't want around but exist anyway. The Taken and Hive are friends that seem like brothers from different mothers. Also, the Vex worshiped the Deep too for a time, the Hive and Taken still fought them then and vice versa.>

The fallen love the traveller and worship it, why do they fight humanity? A variety of reasons. They probably have their reasons

The Fanatic mentions in one of the cut scenes that darkness is in the watchtower, and equates it to death
