Excuses...

1) people aren't playing in "stacked" teams, they're playing with friends 2) the game can't sit and try to piece together only fireteam v fireteam and solo v solo because matchmaking would take forever. Within that 30-45 seconds of grouping, the game is also trying to match by connection, region, skill and all the other things players want. It's simply not realistic to expect fireteams to sit in queue forever waiting for a right size combination to fit all criteria. 3) there's an opt-in to chat option for solo players before EVERY SINGLE MATCH. If you believe a bunch of friends who are more likely than not bullshitting about life rather than making callouts, are at an advantage for that, then join chat and talk to your teammates. 4) You can also with a couple button presses invite your entire team to a private party chat while loading into a match. 5) when you play with people whom you do well teaming with, you can invite them to join you to stay teamed up 6) fireteams lose as much as they win. Don't tell anyone though because they do appreciate the psychological advantage from playing people that look at opposing team comps and get pissed and assume a loss before the match starts Been playing shooters for 20 years and honestly it's sad to see how much everyone just complains about anything and everything they die or lose to these days. Crying about fireteams, weapons, abilities, connection, kill times, etc. It's not cool. Everyone wants to show how "skilled" they are... Just not against anything they feel would be a challenge to beat. Do you see the disconnect there?
I can't show my skill because there's 2 opponents team-shooting

I can't show my skill because my opponent is using a meta weapon

I can't show my skill because all 4 players on the other team know each other

I can't show my skill because it takes .15 of one second longer to kill if I land all my shots and the opponent theirs and we're both using our weapons at their peak ranges and there are no other factors in place like abilities, Grenades, supers, cover, etc
Personal accountability. Sometimes we get outplayed. Sometimes the opponents were just better. Also last but not least, it's a game and all these posts calling out players for playing with friends or using weapons they like that you disapprove of really ruin it and take the fun out of it. Playing QP with a couple friends and getting dms after games calling you names for playing "stacked" or using a weapon that literally everyone has access to is garbage and needs to stop. Stop propagating excuses and start finding ways to win no matter the odds. That's skill.

  • Disagree. These things are problems because of poor design choices by Bungie. Design choices that go against the grain of how people actually play the game. Bungie is basically trying to force people to interact with the game in ways they don’t enjoy. In a competitive marketplace when you treat your customers that way, they don’t adapt. They stop playing your game, and they go play a different game that meets their needs. Which is part of why Fortnite is doing so well.

        • You have some nerve creating a post about anybody making excuses seeing as all you've done since the beta for D2 is make excuses for Bungie releasing a substandard/unfinished game. For all the lame excuses that you've attempted to make on Bungies behalf in this post (yet again)... You've failed to identify the simple solution to the problem... All Bungie have to do to solve the issue of full teams playing against teams of randoms is reintroduce the freelance playlist that they had in Destiny 1. I'll go even further than that... Here's what I wrote in a message to Cozmo when I was playing the beta on 19th July last year. Hi Cozmo... Sorry for bothering you dude. I was just wondering if you could at least pass on to the devs that a freelance option for crucible matchmaking (for some game modes at least) might be a good idea? I know it will only happen if there is enough evidence/data that enough players would use it to justify it's inclusion and that's cool. I just thought I would mention it as I genuinely think it would help the design aim of making Destiny more accessible for solo players/people with different schedules etc. I know your obviously a busy guy and I don't expect or require a reply. I have to say I'm enjoying what I've played of the beta so far. Thanks I guess they only listen to people that praise or defend them no matter what though.

I don't blame the community or the player base for that matter. I blame Bungie that can't even take responsibility for their own actions. Constantly changing the game caused this with the flawed logic that they could "create a Halo experience" trying to balance a game that was never created to be balanced. Until they wake up there will always be mass amounts of complaints. I mean they still haven't even come close to building a foundation to work from. PvP design is a huge mess and always will be because Bungie refuses to treat Destiny as its own game. Trials made matters worse knowing PvP was created to be a casual event that now has turned gamers into over competitive type of people that think PvP is all this game is about. Then you have all the fake people that went to the "community summit" that made matters worse for this game. So, until Bungie gets it in their head that this is Destiny, not Halo. Things will never change...

            • The most important point here is #3, if you decide not to opt in to voice chat at the start of the match, you officially lose all rights to complain about anyone else in your team or how the match went.

              • I agree with you. Ive lost matches with a coordinated 4 man fireteam. The solos were just hetter. Plus what people dont understand is that sometimes a 4 stack will go in with a huge ego. Then get shutdown and try and scramble to win the game. It happens to me and my fireteam. Where we are like yup we got this. And then play sloppy due to being like haha they cant win

              • Such a Bl@m*ng SPOT ON PERFECT post! Thank you Guardian. I too am a gamer of over 20 years, grew up with gaming from the start from before Nintendo. I run crucible solo and never have a problem winning or losing, to me it doesn't matter, there is no point in bothering with who is on the other team, what guns they are using, or if they're in a fire team, its my choice to play solo, and those are the odds I put myself up against. All I know is some games I play well and others I suck. I know I'm not playing for some grand prize like 50K or new car... at best it's just for a little rep and some more tokens... And the guns in the game are all there for all to acquire/use all the same, so if you can't beat 'em join 'em or figure out how to counter 'em... It's time for a certain niche of guardians to quite complaining, grow up and know that the game is a lot more fair (in terms of gear/weapons you use and the choices to team up or not) than life is out in the real world. OP is right, it IS just a game. All guardians have the same opportunities to across the board, so own your choices and stop making excuses.

              • I can't tell if this is a troll or not.. Pretty simple: have a Team Quickplay and a Solo Quickplay playlist. Have a Team Comp and a Solo Comp playlist. Most other competitive shooters have this. Have the option to join Team Quickplay solo, so that 2 or 3 stacks can have their team filled out and solo players can maybe meet and make friends that they can then either Team Quickplay with or do Comp or Trials. Giving players more options is the answer. Not limiting them. Currently, because Quickplay is the only consistent option other than Comp, there are a ton of people sweating their ass of in there. Some competitive teams don't like the game types in Comp, so they treat the "fun" Quickplay playlist like it is Comp. I fully agree there are some teams of people who are actually there just to have fun, but not admitting there are a large amount of complete sweats in there taking advantage of stacking teams is just ignorant.

                •
It's simply not realistic to expect fireteams to sit in queue forever waiting for a right size combination to fit all criteria.
There is no logical reason it would have to work like this. The game knows if you are or are not in a fireteam. That is how it keeps you in the same instance. So it knows the difference between a single player, two players, 4, whatever. In order to do matchmaking, the game would have to run a query. All of the parameters mentioned, and whatever Bungie does behind the scenes. No matter how complex that query may be, and I mean no matter what else it is doing, it would in fact need to be looking at player data. So in theory, the ability to know how many people are in your fire team and potentially if you have a preference(pure solo/don't care), is nothing more than an additional WHERE condition when searching for players. Now I am not saying this IS 100% how it works. But just looking at it from a basic query standpoint, adding another condition is not THAT crazy. This goes for any matchmaking. Any one criteria could be used as a filter. AND they could even set up the preference of no teams as being priority but not actually limit the players so that it would not necessarily take more time. And they may already do this, just have something else that takes precedence.

                  • How about the 4 stacks in comp that are queue dodging So they can play against solo players I suppose that’s our fault too.

https://m.imgur.com/a/hYgAzB4 This is my entire match history from the last time I grinded IB. I gathered players with mics and positive k/ds from lfg. None of us knew each other. One team started on a 22 game win streak and had something like 7 mercy wins in a row. We played against mostly rabble, with some teams of fireteams and randoms and some full fireteams mixed in. We definitely had an overwhelming advantage in most games. The only exceptions were games against other fireteams or games against teams with some highly skilled individual players. My own K/D is only 1.0, give or take a little. My only requirements for participation were mics and positive K/D, no crazy high K/D requirements. Fireteams definitely have an advantage over randomly teamed players, to say otherwise is laughable. You are either a moron or willfully ignorant of reality. Randoms should play with randoms and fireteams should play with fireteams, period. This is true of any game with competitive pvp, regardless of matchmaking times. There should be a place for people who want to queue alone and one for people who want to team up and play against other teams. As a fireteam you are almost guaranteed win if you get matched up against a team of randoms, this is a fact.

                      • I was thinking similar thoughts while grinding away at my Iron Banner Challenges last night. Many times I get smoked. Some of those times we win, sometimes we don't. There are other times when I smoke the heck out of them. I know it's Bungie's fault since I am always consistent, with my play and my connection. It's just a game.

I’d be more than happy as a solo player to wait extra time so I don’t have to play stacked teams and I’m sure other solo players would too. Let stacked teams face each other, I’m sure it’d be more fun for them rather than stomping solo players. You know we can see your game history right? Run in a stacked team much 😂
