If Byf has concerns about Destiny 2's fallacious narrative, Bungie, you've got a problem. As employees of this Triple-A Development Company, I believe it's your duty to research the game you develop. Why else would you create the Grimoire in Destiny 1, if for no reason but to tell a story? Then to completely disregard and neglect this story in your sequel? Why scrap all of the hard work that was so profound? These lore entries weren't developed overnight. Someone worked extremely hard on it. Why be so inconsiderate?
If the Lore Masters are sitting there scratching their heads, not knowing what to make of the baseless things you dropped in the game, then Bungie, you need to check yourself.
When you obliterate the narrative, because you couldn't take 15 minutes to research your work (Something you're paid to do, I'm sure.), the lore dies. And when the lore dies, the marvel that is Destiny dies. If you don't know where to look, try http://www.ishtar-collective.net/. There's even a search bar at the top so you can find exactly what you're looking for.
Here's a point of reference. Be sure to watch all 25 minutes of it. Gotta start somewhere, right?

1 RespuestaWho the frick is Byf?
-
2 RespuestasOooh he's a YouTuber. ... So why should I care? Guy makes videos, that doesn't make his opinion more relevant than any others.
-
Another cock sucker
-
1 RespuestaDo you mean Biff, the singer from Saxon?
-
Byf’s been basically obsolete since destiny2 launched, now u get the 1st 5 mins of his videos telling u how he’s feeling or promoting his discord channel. All he does is read Ishtar collective anyway.
-
i question the iq of anyone looking to streamers for anything
-
4 RespuestasDon’t forget, they retcon things that were actually in D1, not just the grimore.
-
2 RespuestasWhy would anyone care about his opinion? These creators are worried because they built channel's around this game and its all gone tits up. He'll probably be making lore videos on Fortnite soon.

10 RespuestasWhile I enjoy Byf's videos, they are just his opinion. Honestly the biggest problem with Destiny are all the lemmings that refuse to think for themselves. A post on Reddit and the lemmings are off chasing a meta or a god roll weapon (Destiny). A YouTube video and the lemmings are off and regurgitating that narrative. Heaven forbid some offers up a contrarian point of view. If you aren't on board hating Bungie or Destiny, and Destiny 2 (Go back and read posts from Destiny not much has changed, but the lemmings are now racing with the notion how much they loved Destiny.) then the lemmings criticize you as a fan boy or Bungie apologist. The lemmings complain they play the way they want, then race to whatever opinion is posted on Reddit or YouTube. If you hate Bungie or Destiny that much, then play something else. And use the specious argument that you love the game and are trying to make it better. Go write even a small video game and see what's involved. I am having fun playing Destiny. I have since the original beta. Destiny had a story. It was subtle, but it was there. Destiny was an introduction to this universe Bungie created. The with all the complaints about Destiny, Bungie decided to reboot that universe fir Destiny 2. And oh gee, guess what? The complaints are still here. And the lemmings are still running around seeking someone else's opinion.

2 RespuestasEditado por Iccotak: 5/23/2018 7:08:53 AM1. Keep in mind the grimoire was developed because they cut out the original story but needed something for players in order to create some amount of interest and investment. 2. Also keep in mind that good lore is not 1000% true or factual. Look at Elder Scrolls, they make sure that all the in game books are written from the perspective of someone living in that world. So there are a lot of things open to misinterpretation giving the writers room while more importantly making the world feel lived in and believable. Look at our world, we have hundreds of mythologies and folk tales, while they are not true they do speak of what kind of culture they were apart of at the time. 3. Byf is a fan of the game who puts together information that he has found in the game. He is not writing the lore nor is he lore master. AND it should not take a youtube creator to piece together grimoire and lore pieces in order to create anything resembling and complete narrative. Sure feel free to make that sort of content, but it should not be his job to pick up mess and Bungie needs to do a better job in the world-building department. 4. There are a dozen other ways lore, whether accurate or not, can be put in this game. Things like: Books, Journals, Audio recordings, Video recordings, Holograms, Character Dialogue and Questioning, Lore entries for every enemy type you encounter and kill, Scanning environments & items & people, Random Encounters, Memorabilia, etc. and so many more. The Grimoire should be a collection of all these things Destiny is a fantasy/sci-fi hybrid so that gives it ALOT of room for implementing lore.

3 RespuestasActually d1's story was trash and having lore on cards online instead of in game (which older games had codex's in-game, like all the mass effect titles and halo). 80 percent of d1 players didnt go online to read the lore so it was stupid to begin with and players voiced there concerns and what did bungie do NOTHING, except go backwards with nothing ingame or online.

Editado por Risky: 5/24/2018 6:35:52 PMthat video on Uldread was poorly done. seeing continuity errors where there aren't any. why would their be fallen insignias on his ship during the taken king?

1 RespuestaIf I remember right, during the summit Bungie didn't even have one of their storywriters readily available to speak with one of the lore youtubers that attended. It wasn't until they spoke to Christopher Barrett that they were able to set something up for them. It's moments like these that makes me lose faith in Bungie's consistency and care for the lore. Not only that, but it makes me give even less of a shit about it, but then I see what they did with Elsie Bray and the Exo Stranger and it reinvigorates some hope.

2 RespuestasAlways a risk when a new creative/writing team comes on board. To draw a parallel with Star Wars, Rian Johnson took a different path with the Last Jedi to what JJ Abrams had originally envisioned. I think it's just due to the fact that any new writing team will want to create new lore while disposing of old story elements that they might see as creative constraints. I don't agree with it, I think a true test of quality narration is one which adheres to past established story and lore, whilst pushing the story forward with new elements which are in sync with previous story beats; That way players/readers/viewers feel respected for their own investment in the story.
-
The problem is people believe in and love the lore aspect more than Bungie does. I gave up on the lore at the beginning of D2.
-
2 RespuestasI know Byf probably wouldn't do it but they should hire him as the 'make sure the story makes sense and we're getting as much out of it as possible' guy. He can look over the script of future expansions and tell the devs if they're missing the mark on what the lore is etc.

1 RespuestaWhat’s the bully from back to the future got to do with Destiny 2? Did he get his sports results book from the Vex?
-
You guys need to stop it with this streamer mess! Seriously! You can't think for yourself or something?

Who the heck is Byf

Because remember, creating content is hard.
-
4 RespuestasByf is just a Vaati wannabe.
-
Seriously who cares .

1 RespuestaThis is the same guy who determined Rise of Iron was going to be really an expansion set on Mars because of some text on blue armor drops. Pardon me if I don't buy him as a loremaster.

21 RespuestasEditado por qpMaverickqp: 5/23/2018 6:19:16 PMWho is this Byf you speak of? Do you mean the idiot that posted a video about 5 months ago stating the lore of Osiris was some of the best we have had to date and the CoO dlc is probably the best $20 expansion to date? The one that says in that very video that the projections of Osiris was a nice touch and you cannot say we had very little interaction with Osiris because we had insights into the Lore from the projections. The same fool that now in his concerns video speaks about CoO expansion like it was the worst thing ever? Mentioning the story as disappointing, short and not enough in person interaction with Osiris? The same ass that says now Osiris felt bad because a legendary warlock is reduced to voice over comms and the reflections don't count to him or anyone else? That Byf? Dude is simply jaded because of the whole no lore masters at summit thing where myelin ended up being the only lore rep at the summit? He needs to stfu with his concerns because it's idiots like him kissing bungie's ass over the years that has resulted in the current state of D2. Think i am overreacting right? Ok.
