Went back to D1 after giving up on D2 and after playing some old strikes attempting to level up my third character's subclass something dawned on me. D1 just feels superior to D2 in almost every way possible. It almost feels as if D2 was developed by Bungie's D squad and not actually Bungie themselves. D1 has a superior BGM, atmosphere, art style, environments, weapons, content, strikes, raids. It truly feels like a different, inferior developer made D2. Going back to D1 just feels so refreshing, like reconnecting with an old friend.

10 RespuestasThe brains behind Destiny’s creation were shown the door before the game was released in 2014. The world Joe Staten and Marty O’Donnel, as well as others, created was slowly and systematically downgraded throughout the 3yr lifespan of D1. Staten and O’Donnel were replaced. Replaced by Luke Smith, Mark Noseworthy, & Jon Wisniewski. All three with less experience and less technical skill than there predecessors. The focus of Bungie as a whole then shifted from making games players wanted to play to maximizing profit via creating the least amount of content possible. The talent within the walls at Bungie wasn’t the same talent anymore. Addt’l replacements were hired and Bungie discovered that they simply could not produce content fast enough to satisfy the player demand. Hence “creating content is too hard” quote. Activision realizes that extended content droughts can negatively impact revenue. More frequent content drops ultimately will translate into increased revenue. Activision allocates resources from two other studios High Moon and Vicarious Visions to assist Bungie and create continual content. The rest Luke Smith should elaborate on.

I thought they liked Destiny 1, but do even like this?

4 Respuestas<A couple things I can truly appreciate about Destiny 2 are the art (concept art, skyboxes, planets, etc) and the music. Everything else is off and on.>
-
Yup this is the new bungie. This is what happens when you sell your soul
-
1 RespuestaYes. I checked on the box and it said Bungie.
-
This is what Bungie has become.

1 RespuestaI'm thinking about reinstalling D1 and uninstalling D2. Is pvp or any of the raids still actively played?
-
Technically no since all of the good people jumped off this burning ship
-
I think it was made by them, but they had multiple studios. Idk. A theory could be that the A team had already started D3 and the B team used an inferior engine for D2 with very little time to do it. I mean ffs the antialiasing alone is enough to make you ask this question. Some of the armor rendering, even the world rendering is pretty bad. D1s engine and dev tools were overly demanding and it took forever to fix one small thing. So to make it easier to develop they made this. But yeah your question is a good one.

Editado por Seraph: 2/7/2018 8:17:29 PMI believe it was. There was a rumor going around that a lot of modern Bungie’s staff are huge Halo fan boys who are only interested in making Halo games and that a lot of these developers never really ever ’got’ what Destiny was or was supposed to be. I see Destiny 2 as Bungie doubling down on the thing that they do well ( FPS mechanics ) while getting rid of a lot of the stuff that’s out of their comfort zone ( RPG mechanics, Space Magic, that sense of adventure and exploration, complex story telling, grinding for loot ).

4 RespuestasEditado por JHarv: 2/6/2018 3:53:55 PMMarty and Staten were Bungie. These idiots we have now lucked into or were gifted their positions, and look at what has happened. These non-gamer clowns should be working at Walmart and Costco for a living.

1 RespuestaNo. The only variant of Destiny that was, in my opinion, truly made by Bungie was the 2013 version
-
Different lead directors, different visions for what Destiny is.

Editado por Senor Crouch: 2/7/2018 1:53:47 PMYeah, remember all those bad ideas Bungie tried to implement into Destiny 1 and had to regress or change when we all clamored how bad those ideas were? Destiny 2 was just a canvas for them to implement all of them at the same time. "This is going to be the greatest game ever!" No, Bungie, no. This is why we fought you tooth and nail to keep your list of bad ideas away from Destiny 1. Clearly our concerns were not """listened""" to and you went forward with your list of bad ideas anyways. So here we are, a game filled with all of your bad ideas rolled up into one game. Hope you got that out of your system, cause boy was it costly.

I frequently feel the same when I go back, and I do from time to time. Consider: Playable Story Missions at any given time: Destiny 1: Not sure... forty? Fifty? Something like that. Destiny 2: Three, changing from week to week. Custom matches and Sparrow races: Destiny 1: Present. Destiny 2: Absent. Horde Modes available: Destiny 1: Three: PoE, Court of Oryx, and Archon's Forge Destiny 2: Zero Available Weapon Rolls (per item): Destiny 1: Hundreds, maybe thousands. Destiny 2: One. Available Perk Configurations per Subclass: Destiny 1: Dozens. Destiny 2: Two. Supers possible in 5 minutes: Destiny 1: 13-15*, if you played it right. Destiny 2: One. Maybe. Weapon system: Destiny 1: Primary, special, and heavy. Destiny 2: Primary, primary, and special OR heavy. Bungie, I want to support you, but... why on Earth did you think any of this was a good idea? *I did 20 Nova Bombs in 7:30 once, indicated number is an extrapolation.

Didn’t they hire or employ other studios for D2? Problem might be there and lack of oversight
-
2 RespuestasSo true. I had a similar post after heading back to destiny 1. In every way it feels like it's the sequel in so many ways. They said D2 was 13% bigger then all of destiny 1......they forgot to say it was 50% emptier
-
It feels like destiny 2 should have been the first game released.
-
Eh, people said the same thing about D1 following halo, and reach following halo 3.
-
Some things change with time. So too with Bungie.
-
Na it was actually made by Bungo
-
No it was made by Data East
-
For some reason this company gets rid of anyone with real talent and they try and thieve their work.
-
No.
KUPO!!!™
