So basically, H&M made the mistake of modeling an African child in a hoodie with the words “Coolest monkey in the Jungle” on it. This prompted many people to automatically claim that the advertisement seemed racist, which is somewhat fair. But then, many people took this a step further and said that the company H&M was racist, which is rather bogus. H&M quickly issued an apology and repealed the item from their stores (although you can still buy it online in the UK). Some people in South Africa took this even a step further and began trashing H&M stores across the nation. It is odd how something as insignificant as a hoodie can cause mass hysteria.
Of course, the best way to refute the claim that you are animals is to act like animals.
