I’ll just leave this here

...wash my hands, and see myself out. No need to reply. I assure you, I’m quite the honest person, and I’ve no intention of sticking around to read replies. I left my, mostly, tactful feedback, for whatever good it will do. I am proud of that. Those of you who are passionate about quality, I feel for you too, and thank you. Not many care deep enough, and even fewer than that ever recognize, let alone respect, the time some of us take to really look deeper, beyond the flashy graphics and dazzling colors, to root out the weeds which choke the garden of video game Edens. Bungie, this is for you, and only you. Not for the fans and not for the players. They’ve done nothing wrong. They are here to simply have fun and, like them, I was too. I saw great potential in your capabilities. And this is not to say you are incapable of still being and doing great. Given the current state of the game, it’s embarrassing. Shameful, even. The fact that many players, to my surprise, argue to defend this game, yet seem to conveniently forget(?) the fact that Y3 Destiny had better incentives for players (read as: replay-ability), blows my mind. There can be only one reason. Your target audience was reached. Very young people. Vanilla Destiny had more diversity in loot...and that’s a fact; baked-in perks means kills the pursuit and need to keep going. Review (Sure to sting some feelings) Gloves are off! If you’re a casual player looking to spend time experiencing Bungie’s first class shooting mechanics, you’re in for a treat. If you’re a returning player who was looking for more, there is trouble up ahead my friend... Having put a great many hours into the game, experienced all it offers, it becomes clear, and fast, that the game turns boring. Loot stops scaling at around the 260 power (previously known as ‘Light’) mark and the only way to power-up higher is the completing of weekly activities, which can be done once per character, per week. Once done, and once you find yourself at the 265/ 270 mark, infusing exotic weapons and/ or getting exotic engrams are your only way to scale up. It’s either mindless grinding for the same loot, of which has baked-in perks (more on that latter) or make new characters to take advantage of being able to do multiple weekly milestones. While the latter sounds appealing, it’s actually detrimental to anyone looking for long term replay ability, because there is no incentive to grind out the endgame activities beyond getting what you get, the first time. With the lost benefit of raid weapons and gear not having raid perks nor even random perks on normal loot, the incentives to keep playing is lost. I reached 300 power very fast using the multiple character method and once there, activities that granted rewards useful to me, diminished exponentially. This is a huge step backwards in a looter game, and that’s the bottom line in this genre: getting better loot. Everyone has the same loot now. There is no more White Whale to pursue anymore. I’ve digressed though and believe that what I am about to say, should be the only thing that needs to be said. More than 90% of the people who have been leaving reviews here for this game, have been comparing it to the vanilla release of Destiny. And this, critics, is not only a mistake, but it shows just how out of touch you are, and have been, with the many progressive changes made to Destiny, up to this point. There were a lot of extra incentives added to Destiny. Post Rise of Iron expansion saw the game in a truly fun position. Gone, entirely, are all the changes that year 3 Destiny had that helped mold the vanilla experience, over time, into a wonderfully rewarding experience. Sequels should retain aspects of their predecessors, for continuity sake. Movie producers and novelists alike know and understand this. However, and I cannot emphasize this enough, more must be built upon that foundation. More. Not less. Destiny 2 is three years behind Destiny: Rise of Iron. Quite literally, we veteran players who stuck with Destiny from day one launch, we are playing that same bland vanilla Destiny experience of 2014, all over again. Critics praising Bungie for the story and fancy graphics, need to stop. Just stop. Those are characteristics that are, in this era of video gaming, come to be expected of any first rate developing studio. Expected! You don’t praise an adult for tying their shoes every day, do you? Unless you have stuck with Destiny since initial launch and up until now, your critiques, opinions even, are entirely moot. Do not buy this game. Maybe, in two years time from now, the game will offer everything that Y3 (Year 3) Destiny does. But, really, who wants a repeat of 2014 again? Hardcore fans are abandoning the sinking boat. Have no illusions, the game grows stale and the casuals, whom this game was clearly targeted at, will leave when they do and will grow bored, fast. Anyone left standing who was a hardcore fan, if any at all by then, will be left wondering if the whole experience was a nightmare and they can finally wake up. Stop spreading false information, critics. You cannot compare this game to vanilla Destiny. In doing so, you are clearly disclosing your lack of intelligence and acknowledgment of the fact that Destiny has, since launch, never seen many expansions and core mechanic changes that have refined the end user experience. Stop. Your. Madness. Search Youtube for a video by “Skill Up.” It’s an hour long review of Destiny 2 and one of which tens of thousands of fans are in agreement with. You owe it to yourself, if you value not only your money, but the integrity of the video game industry. The game is an insult to creativity, ingenuity, inspiration, and takes no risks. Nothing to see here. Nothing you will truly miss. Move along. If you’re looking to critic reviews, or listen to people that tell you to ignore user reviews, ask yourself this: Would you rather take the word of someone who is not knowledgable, in that they are comparing an outdated version of Destiny, minus all the software updates and changes for the past three years, to Destiny 2? Or the word of someone who has put in thousands of hours into Destiny, up to now, and many in Destiny 2? Someone who has skipped three years or someone who has seen them all?

  • i am in a perpetual state of waiting for reset. i get all my stuff done by thursday. trials is fun but after going flawless i am not interested in going again. i'm 305 on all 3 characters. i can beat the raid without breaking a sweat. prestige nightfall is the only challenging(?) part of the game for me and it's artificially difficult. don't know why bungie abandoned the hardcore fans, but i'm looking for a new game to play.

  • Here’s something I found from a UK newspaper. Made me rethink how I actually view Destiny. I realise that fanboys may not agree with me but…. it’s a kid’s game. I’ll explain my thought process. I have two boys aged 10 and eight. One is into Pokémon, the other football and collecting Match Attax cards. Both have played and enjoyed Destiny 2 this weekend. Why? First there’s no bad language. There’s no blood or gore or sex stuff. You’re shooting aliens or monsters or robots or giant robots, etc., etc. No blood involved, just lovely numbers. Secondly, it’s all about collecting stuff. You collect a new weapon. Lovely. New armour. New weapon again, etc., etc. Kids love collecting stuff. Thirdly, you do these things over and over and over again. Kids love repetition, or at least don’t mind it. How many times do I have to watch the same episodes of We Bare Bears? Kids don’t care. Plus, you can customise your gear with new colours! Kids love that. And finally, it’s so simple to complete the main story that I can’t believe it’s supposed to not be for children. This is not me having a go, I genuinely enjoy the game and I’m glad my kids can join in.

      • Boring! Game is 3/4 weeks old. It's not perfect and never will be. Just just play until you don't want to then play another game. There is people already burnt out and hat do they expect? If you gorge you will be sick. Simples! I've think it's value for money. I'm not over the moon about every decision but it still doesn't stop me playing.

        • I agree with this. Too bad many people in the forums don't realize 99% of the people who post in here want to play Destiny. The real haters are in the comment section on every other site that talks about video games. Posts like these are to show Bungie that we're keen on them trying rehash the D1 experiment all over again. They give us a little bit at a time of what should have been included from the beginning and act like they're doing us a favor. This game literally feels like it couldve been the original D1 and was just never released until now.

        • I feel that the only people that praise Destiny 2 are the ones that quit Destiny 1 during vanilla and never went back. That's the ONLY way Destiny 2 is better. It's better than a game that was barely half done. That's nothing to brag about, not from a company like Bungie.

          • I agree with pretty much everything. The game is a flat out downgrade to D1, they dropped all the progress the expansions did to enhance it only to revert right back to vanilla D1. I probably won't even hit 100 hours in this game compared to the 1.3k in D1. Not because I'm burnt out, not because I want destiny to fail (you don't put 1.3k hours into a game and then hope it fails lol) but because the sequel is pretty pathetic for a "sequel". So much so that I think this should've been nothing more than another expansion to D1. Bungie had so much potential with this franchise but I'm at the point where I don't care anymore, I'm waiting for the next developer to try an attempt at what Bungie couldn't do.

            • This is the kind of post that I miss. Early In Destiny 1 the boards were mostly constructive criticism, And discussions about them. Even if I didn't agree with them if they were intelligent arguments I would discuss them. Nowadays one in every hundred posts is an intelligent constructive criticism post, the other 99 posts nowadays are all salt no intelligent argument against what they say just stuff like "stop whining" get good" are you mad bro" people who have no argument for anything on an intelligent level just massively defensive Fanboys swinging insults around. I played Destiny one for a really long time as a casual player never even did the last two raids but I had fun with it all the way to the end this game's been out a little over a month and I barely can get myself to get on play just to do some public events for loot drops maybe an adventure or two or Patrol.

            • I enjoy the game for the social aspect and still have to do certain aspects of the game. But I'm sorry, D2 doesn't have a whole lot of replayabilty. If bungie didn't drop legendaries like they were candy and made it so engrams dropped higher than power level, even if it was 2 higher each time you got one, I wouldve been happy to grind. After you do your weekly milestones, there's nothing for me to strive for when everything drops below your power level. And I'm sorry, grinding for hours at a chance for an exotic that 99.9 percent is still lower is not fun.

            • It makes me sad to say, but I have to agree. I knew shit had gotten bad when it got to the point where after playing for a bit I wanted to play For Honor over this. -blam!-ing FOR HONOR of all games! That's when it dawned on me.. Destiny 2 just leaves me wanting. It's not a satisfying experience :(

            • Thing is that Bungie doesn't care about hardcore gamers, we're afterall in minority, vocal yes, but minority nonetheless. Which is exactly why they have shifted policy from catering to niche and appealing to mainstream crowd, because this is where the money flows. They don't care about the changes they've made over the past 3 years. They happily scrapped all of it to please the casual gamers in hope to lure more of them with sense of accomplishment so they'll feel welcome and stay for upcoming DLC. Bottom line is what they care about, and no amount of crying from vocal minority will force Activision to reiterate Destiny - the money maker 2.

Spot on review and 1,000% correct. While the OP is probably a bit more harsh in some aspects than I would be (an insult to creativity, ingenuity, inspiration, and takes no risks) I understand why he has said the things he has. The thing is, that 99.9% of everyone on these boards really, really LIKE the concept of Destiny. They want a better game. They want Bungie to IMPROVE and to NOT take things away solely to be sold later. They want Bungie to adhere to the initial game they said they were going to make. We're tired of being mislead or even lied to. We're tired of the painfully obvious cash grabs. We're tired of the bait and switch. We KNOW that this game can be phenomenal. The only thing holding this game back is Bungie and Activision and I'm not sure who should shoulder more of the blame. It's just disappointing.

              • The discussion of the weekly wall on character progress is good for the community. Right now, the quickest way to level up is to continually create and delete characters. Otherwise, like me, you have to wait until the weekly reset to collect powerful engrams again. While I do appreciate the effort to save me from playing all night and going to work as a wreck the next day, there are obvious flaws. 1.) The quickest way to level up is to continually create and delete characters. This is how players hit 300 light before the raid first dropped. In the words of Jeff Goldblum, "Life finds a way." 2.) Players coming in late to Destiny 2 are at a huge disadvantage unless they continually create and delete characters. There is no other way to catch up because the weekly wall will always stand in their way. 3.) Bungie has created disincentives for running activities that do not reward powerful engrams. The most glaring example of this is the strike playlist. Even public events will reward exotics now and then. The raid also suffers from this problem and is perhaps the least efficient activity for raising light level. 4.) 95% of drops are garbage. Even a 1 point gain every few drops would have value. The way it works now, I am a Legendary Shard hoarder. The solution here is to have some incremental gain for playing the game. Might I suggest dropping better rewards form the strikes playlist and the raid. Both seem to be less popular than ever.

                • Kinda mixed on this... Loving the environments, stories/lore, and physics but there's a "softness" to it. There's no real "Gjallerhorn" to chase. No strike specific loot and the raid stuff isn't really any better than general vendor stuff. Speaking of the raid, the loot system isn't very well done in my opinion... Spend hours beating bosses and then spend more time hunting down chests to get purple engrams... Not even raid specific loot. Again, not that the raid stuff is much better than the vendor stuff so why bother, really. If it does have a perk you like, they took away from something else you liked. As a result of all this, my D1 friends are spending less time together. Which is kind of weird but it's the case. Just haven't been playing together as much. I dunno... I still play and I still hope for the best. Guess time will tell.

                  • Agree. The game play is boring and the looting sucks now; why even bother turning stuff in other than for the weekly "powerful gear" which can be done in no time? Even most the "great new maps" are Destiny 1 maps just fancied up and re-dressed of you look close.

                  • Agreed. Main issues I have No random perks, Just why? Obviously due to PvP but took out a lot of repeatability, if you want to grind for hours for a god roll then you deserve it, certain perks also could have been pve only. Everything is handed out, No more need for materials or actually use the weapons and armour to unlock perks Can't even choose to reply certain missions and strikes, no heroics, no dailys, why? PvP is garbage, No game mode choice, 30FPS and P2P servers, even Halo 5 was 60FPS and dedicated, and it still runs and plays a million times better! Small teams, small maps, no LMGs but SMGs? Wow. Simple sub classes, no more choice and customisation, the abilities are also 90% recycled which is lazy, where's the new classes? New elements etc? Power/light SUCKS, forced to use stuff with the highest number not what you'd want to. Reskins are back in full force! Bosses are still the same oversized enemies, nothing new, it's just lazy. But the worse thing for me? TOKENS! Seriously? It's so lazy, bland and boring that every event just gives tokens?! The music and sky boxes are decent though, but atm D2, is a 4/10.

                    • I even bought the season pass and am now thinking why did I, can't wait for anthem but by then if bungie don't fix things like trials matchmaking and strikes that are pointless then I and probably many others will move on. Also they missed a trick with the lost sectors that should have had them where we had to do them on each planet like mini quests to level our gear, also as of now they are pointless too.
