I’ll just leave this here

...wash my hands, and see myself out. No need to reply. I assure you, I’m quite the honest person, and I’ve no intention of sticking around to read replies. I left my, mostly, tactful feedback, for whatever good it will do. I am proud of that. Those of you who are passionate about quality, I feel for you too, and thank you. Not many care deep enough, and even fewer than that ever recognize, let alone respect, the time some of us take to really look deeper, beyond the flashy graphics and dazzling colors, to root out the weeds which choke the garden of video game Edens. Bungie, this is for you, and only you. Not for the fans and not for the players. They’ve done nothing wrong. They are here to simply have fun and, like them, I was too. I saw great potential in your capabilities. And this is not to say you are incapable of still being and doing great. Given the current state of the game, it’s embarrassing. Shameful, even. The fact that many players, to my surprise, argue to defend this game, yet seem to conveniently forget(?) the fact that Y3 Destiny had better incentives for players (read as: replay-ability), blows my mind. There can be only one reason. Your target audience was reached. Very young people. Vanilla Destiny had more diversity in loot...and that’s a fact; baked-in perks means kills the pursuit and need to keep going. Review (Sure to sting some feelings) Gloves are off! If you’re a casual player looking to spend time experiencing Bungie’s first class shooting mechanics, you’re in for a treat. If you’re a returning player who was looking for more, there is trouble up ahead my friend... Having put a great many hours into the game, experienced all it offers, it becomes clear, and fast, that the game turns boring. Loot stops scaling at around the 260 power (previously known as ‘Light’) mark and the only way to power-up higher is the completing of weekly activities, which can be done once per character, per week. Once done, and once you find yourself at the 265/ 270 mark, infusing exotic weapons and/ or getting exotic engrams are your only way to scale up. It’s either mindless grinding for the same loot, of which has baked-in perks (more on that latter) or make new characters to take advantage of being able to do multiple weekly milestones. While the latter sounds appealing, it’s actually detrimental to anyone looking for long term replay ability, because there is no incentive to grind out the endgame activities beyond getting what you get, the first time. With the lost benefit of raid weapons and gear not having raid perks nor even random perks on normal loot, the incentives to keep playing is lost. I reached 300 power very fast using the multiple character method and once there, activities that granted rewards useful to me, diminished exponentially. This is a huge step backwards in a looter game, and that’s the bottom line in this genre: getting better loot. Everyone has the same loot now. There is no more White Whale to pursue anymore. I’ve digressed though and believe that what I am about to say, should be the only thing that needs to be said. More than 90% of the people who have been leaving reviews here for this game, have been comparing it to the vanilla release of Destiny. And this, critics, is not only a mistake, but it shows just how out of touch you are, and have been, with the many progressive changes made to Destiny, up to this point. There were a lot of extra incentives added to Destiny. Post Rise of Iron expansion saw the game in a truly fun position. Gone, entirely, are all the changes that year 3 Destiny had that helped mold the vanilla experience, over time, into a wonderfully rewarding experience. Sequels should retain aspects of their predecessors, for continuity sake. Movie producers and novelists alike know and understand this. However, and I cannot emphasize this enough, more must be built upon that foundation. More. Not less. Destiny 2 is three years behind Destiny: Rise of Iron. Quite literally, we veteran players who stuck with Destiny from day one launch, we are playing that same bland vanilla Destiny experience of 2014, all over again. Critics praising Bungie for the story and fancy graphics, need to stop. Just stop. Those are characteristics that are, in this era of video gaming, come to be expected of any first rate developing studio. Expected! You don’t praise an adult for tying their shoes every day, do you? Unless you have stuck with Destiny since initial launch and up until now, your critiques, opinions even, are entirely moot. Do not buy this game. Maybe, in two years time from now, the game will offer everything that Y3 (Year 3) Destiny does. But, really, who wants a repeat of 2014 again? Hardcore fans are abandoning the sinking boat. Have no illusions, the game grows stale and the casuals, whom this game was clearly targeted at, will leave when they do and will grow bored, fast. Anyone left standing who was a hardcore fan, if any at all by then, will be left wondering if the whole experience was a nightmare and they can finally wake up. Stop spreading false information, critics. You cannot compare this game to vanilla Destiny. In doing so, you are clearly disclosing your lack of intelligence and acknowledgment of the fact that Destiny has, since launch, never seen many expansions and core mechanic changes that have refined the end user experience. Stop. Your. Madness. Search Youtube for a video by “Skill Up.” It’s an hour long review of Destiny 2 and one of which tens of thousands of fans are in agreement with. You owe it to yourself, if you value not only your money, but the integrity of the video game industry. The game is an insult to creativity, ingenuity, inspiration, and takes no risks. Nothing to see here. Nothing you will truly miss. Move along. If you’re looking to critic reviews, or listen to people that tell you to ignore user reviews, ask yourself this: Would you rather take the word of someone who is not knowledgable, in that they are comparing an outdated version of Destiny, minus all the software updates and changes for the past three years, to Destiny 2? Or the word of someone who has put in thousands of hours into Destiny, up to now, and many in Destiny 2? Someone who has skipped three years or someone who has seen them all?

This game is an insult to creativity? Really? Likening the polish of Destiny 2 to an adult being able to tie their shoes is taking things too far. You don’t have to study shoe tying for years and rise through the ranks as you build a portfolio of shoe-tying expertise to prove that you can do so. You make this analogy because you think that something like Destiny is owed to you when it isn’t. And not even, since it’s apparently an insult to you in every way that a game could possibly be. And maybe it doesn’t take risks. Maybe Bungie have done their research and crafted a formula that is risk-averse and proven to work in trying to get players to buy into its ethos as a loot-based shooter. But to assume that it’s existence should be taken for granted is the true insult here. Listen, I don’t program video games for a living but I know what it means to be passionate about one’s job. And you’re going to tell me that the people who worked on this game and are still working on this game, the people who are crunching hours at the expense of their personal lives for your enjoyment (or obvious lack thereof), lack creativity, skill, and inspiration? Really? You have every right to be disappointed. But you do not have the right to feel entitled. Because at the end of the day, creativity, whether it’s the good or bad kind, is not owed to you or to anyone for that matter.

    • im not buying destiny 2 i made the mistake of buying the first game and i going to bet its going to be exactly the same way as the first one and cut content and sell it as dlc so instead of giving us the full game and then have new ideas for dlc thats worth buying i don't get it really if you are so worried about money and getting more of it why don't you make it worth buying instead of selling us the first game with wax on it and some new paint.

      • I'm already kinda bored and I haven't even done the Raid once. The loot is pretty meh to me. In Destiny 1, there always seemed like there was something to chase and grind for and it was fun doing it. In Destiny 2, weapons are practically just handed out to you and always have the same perks. A good gun will always be good and a bad gun will always be bad. I automatically shard 99% of what I get because I already know what it has isn't for me or it's just bad. I'm pretty much always disappointed when I turn in tokens because I get the same terrible loot for the 27th time. I really can't see myself playing Destiny 2 for even half the time I played Destiny 1.

Haven't been to this forum in a month, I come back and see this post and immediately realize why I stayed away. It's good to talk about things that are wrong with the game but when it's brought up like it's the end of the life of the game it makes you sound delusional, many people have come and gone with shit posts like yours and each time the game has survived.

This is all well tread ground, but I'd love to see Bungie's response to the rising realization that the game is hollow compared to what we left behind. Is anyone else feeling like it might be more rewarding to go back and mess around in D1? I want to enjoy playing this game since I bought the season pass, but it's just not pulling me in at all. I'm tired of chasing public events for useless loot. I wanted an FPS WoW. I knew I wouldn't get it, but this was even less than I expected.

        • This is a very impassioned and brilliantly written rant. I agree with a it a lot. I'm a hard core Destiny fan. Well over 1000 hours in D1. However I knew that D2 would be a bit bare so I've taken my time. Yes you should play a game how you want to play it, BUT if you play the -blam!- out of a game don't expect to last forever! That being said there is very little end game content in D2. I really hope the live team pulls through and the DLCs prove their worth. I some how can't help the feeling that when D3 comes out I should just a wait a year for another Taken King sized expansion and it will be all ok. D2 is one step forward two steps back and it's a shame, but man is it fun to play.

        • My dude, let's be real. You're tired of the game because you've been playing it 10+ hours a day, every day, since it's release. You've gotten your money's worth. Go outside. Get a job. Do something else.

i enjoyed the read you do touch on some of the factual issue with D2. im going to stick around only because i do have a full time job, kids, .....and so fourth.....so i only get to play/stream around 4-6 hours a day if that.. so what prob takes most gamers a day to do i can easily spread over the week.. is it enough? NO. i dont get the feeling im behind other players. i dont feel the urgency to play the raid because im 301 power level and from what ive watched the raid is... well not what it should be. its sure as hell looks amazing but the coin system should have been reserved for everything else. Why couldn't the raid capture what kings fall did + wrath AND this raid. That is have multiple bosses and in place of the boring platforming like ttk/wrath add the new team events like the gardens and the guantlet. they are not hard but they are not a "boss" encounter.

            • I have like 13h in PvP and campaign for one character +some srtikes and patrols and I'm done . I already sold the game it was very boring ,as mainly PvP (filthy casual and trying not to hard try hard ;) player I was disappointed how Bungie rebuild it (tho nobody asked the to do it ) no pleasure to shoot guns . Honestly I've played early access beta but lost interest after 3 days ,I was telling to myself "it's only small chunk of the game ,I'm sure they took some notes and on release we will have much greater product " but o f@£& how I was mistaken it's same story as with Vanilla D1 they basically threw data gathered from all 3 years down to the drain . Is it still 2014 and we playing on PS3 /x360 for -blam!- sake ? Nothing to get, nothing to grind cutted out features ,game is dumbed down . We should stand against practices like that as gaming community ( skill up made very good points at his review ) Im done -im not going to be beta tester again. Cheers

            • I agree in a way, but if you don’t play it 24/7 it’s a great game. I’m at 270 light and I’m starting to realize it’s getting really slow. But you have to think of all the small stuff you can do on each map like looting caves and doing small patrol missions, not to mention loot from public events have always been good to me. But I still have two character slots available to make a hunter and a titan which I know I will enjoy trying to grind them up to where I am now with my warlock. Destiny is a game you have to have patience in. I think we can all agree that destiny was a let down to start out with because they were rushing to get it out there with very little content, but as the game progressed they added a crap ton to do. And being a destiny player I think they did an amazing job with the content you can do in destiny 2 especially if you compare it to the first one. I could see if your not familiar with destiny, and how they add stuff to it as the months pass by, that yeah it could be a let down, but it’s really all about what are they going to do next.

              • I agree somewhat d2 is missing somethings . I miss my sparrow horn. I miss variable perks. I miss crucible variance and selection. I miss my bad juju.lol The game (d2)is streamlined and more aggressive to keep players grinding (just one more then I'll do something else...) I kinda miss waiting a bit for public events to start so I can explore and take selfies..😎 Maybe when dlc is released game will show itself for what the fans (hardcore) really desire. I am kinda a casual but I play a lot more than a few hours. The power/light grinding is weird but challenging. Faction tokens are neat but gets boring once you get your gear. Imo but for casuals yea it works... Overall for my $100 I wish kinda d1 would have just been expanded like taken king so I could've kept my weapons and light but it is what it is... If I had to spend $100 again I would. Destiny overall is a fantastic game. I appreciate what it is for what it is. The biggest disappointment for me is that Bungie felt it necessary to reboot this game, rather than expand upon the foundation so many enjoyed. What am I gonna do with d1 now... I would've spent $100 either way. Anywhoo time to play some d2.✌

              • Now the game isn't bad, I'm loving it in fact but I've not rushed through like a lot have. It's the weapons with static perks that get me. I understand it's nice that everyone has access to everything but I had 20/30 treads upon stars before I was happy with the role and enjoyed getting all of them. There for me was an incentive to grind making it, well not a grind really. There just isn't enough weapon variety or weapons in general (as of the moment). Exotics to me should be outlandish and have crazy moving parts and lights and explosions. I want enemies to pass out just for being in the same area as me holding this mighty boom stick, not laughing at the length of the barrel
easy now cheeky
Just my thoughts

                  • I'd have to agree with your point and there have been murmurs of the same sort among my group. There is something missing. I don't know whether by trying to appeal to the masses Bungie has lost what made the game special before. The weapons for example, they feel...generic. Without the random perks they just all feel pretty much the same and nothing really stands out imo apart from the odd exotic. Some within my group are already talking about going and playing other games as there is nothing to keep them playing any more. And honestly, I'm getting that way myself. Fingers crossed for the future but destiny 2 in it's current form is not what I was hoping for.

                    • Well put, but sadly I think its to late for this franchise. So much potential and its all waisted on a mediocre game. Hopefully Anthem or Borderlands 3 will deliver everything that Destiny failed to accomplish.

                    • This is exactly my sentiment towards the game. I'm on of those hardcore fans debating whether I should leave this mess of a franchise. They may have added a "story" and polished a few things like public events, but they removed so many critical aspects and fun systems that were in D1 that the sequel is worse than the original. If Bungie wants people to stay around for the rest of the journey. They better not wipe the slate clean at the end if D2.

                      • Great write up....you guys have to know when to walk away from a game. I've logged 1500+ hours on Destiny 1 and this Destiny 2 follow up is a major step back. They'll add the missing stuff in up coming updates to make it seem like they're 'Doing something' for the fans BS. The loot in the raid is pure nonsense, loving opening chest and getting no gear/weapons but at least you give me some glimmer....500 glimmer. You get more from doing public events, the PC version is going to lose most of it player base fast!
