The concept is Sci-fi, but it's huge corporations (weapon manufacturers) in basically large scale warfare. Basic, but I'm trying to flesh it out

For example, one known as the Ashen Builders are like a shadow broker organization in ME mixed with the Russian idea of not super nice looking but extremely reliable weapons

Yes. They have three departments: Weapons Design, Manufacturing, and Selling Mercenaries Information Broker And this is just one of five corporations I've started building
