Here's an example of what may be going on... Of course I made up the numbers.
DESTINY 1 preorders
PS3 = 100,000
XBOX360 - 100,000
PS4 - 100,000
XBOXOne - 100,000
This clearly shows 400,000 preorders
DESTINY 2 preorders
PS4 - 75,000
XBOXOne - 75,000
PC - 75,000
This clearly shows 225,000 preorders
However, since there is no legacy console D2 game, is Activision comparing just the PS4/XBOXOne numbers and adding in the PC numbers? Hmmmm... I think so.
So, if you go by my theory D2 is out selling D1 (225,000 to 200,00)
Don't think Activision wouldn't pull this fast one on you. They're not lying, but they are playing tactics with the numbers. All business models do this. Even to their shareholders.
EDIT:
Destiny 1 was a huge pre-order, but it was also followed by a huge return to GameStop. I don't know about you, but I saw more used Destiny copies than most other games. The players left are just the small core of fanboys. The bulk of Destiny 1 preorders are no longer playing... so in what world would they pre-order Destiny 2? I'm not saying my numbers are correct, but I am implying that Activision did something similar to skew the numbers.
Sorry folks... something smells. But, I love the hate... love seeing fanboy muppets bend over.

3 RespuestasD1 beta 4.6 million users D2 beta more than that Not counting the PC beta yet Your numbers seem a little off
-
2 RespuestasThe made-up numbers really don't help illustrate your point.
-
You know the numbers people keep reaching for are just for physical preorders in the U.S? And that for the Q2 investors statement Activision showed off a 15% increase in digital net purchases?

8 RespuestasWho cares I'm getting it , my mates are getting it. Your not on my friends list enough said

Who would of thought my opinion would get so many comments? I thought y'all didn't care? You love me. You really love me.

You can still buy discs from GameStop. Wtf do they sell 8 tracks too.

6 RespuestasI love how if someone likes something you don't on the internet, it's "shit", they got "bent over", they're "noobs", "fanboys", or "casuals", and etc. People still like D1, they liked the beta, and they pre-ordered D2 - get over it.
-
With this game, I think by now everyone knows not to buy into hype or believe BS.
-
1 RespuestaWhat's the point of this post if you're not giving factual numbers? This is basically your opinion based on your own speculation.... pointless.
-
What about people pre-ordering who are traveling here from another planet? Did you account for that? Huh? Did you?

2 RespuestasEditado por evlwarhed: 8/8/2017 12:21:10 PMI'll just say............ U have many peeps buying all 3 platforms just for D2 and of course that 1 person is counting as 3 pre orders, so false bs on numbers right off the bat. Kinda like Jerry jones buying 1000's of tickets in the first decade of him owning cowboys, just so it would b televised and he could make the Pepsi etc. money. Bungievision can throw out these" manipulated Hillary numbers" all they want; truth is they know orders are sparse compared to real player numbers of D1, but they can't let the public know. I'm sure they will release another pre order "gift" in next. Purple weeks to bring on a few more pre orders. And yes, I pre ordered; they got my bill until the 2nd expansion plays out. If same bs by then as D1, I'm out from anything bungie/activision for life
-
5 RespuestasWhere the hell did you pull those numbers from? Ohh, out your ass....that makes sense.
-
11 RespuestasWhy do you people care about preorder figures? Are you a shareholder of Activision? Are you an employee at Bungie? If you answered yes to either of those questions then I can understand if you're interested. Everyone else just play the game and enjoy it. Or don't if you're not into it. Preorder numbers should not effect your enjoyment of the game.

Ive been playing from the beta, i love the art style, sound design and gun play of destiny. They got the engine right but lots of other things wrong unfortunately.
-
2 RespuestasLol @ the saltboys wriggling with the confirmation that D2 pre orders are higher than D1.
-
9 RespuestasDestiny 1 was very hyped, and it had 4 consoles to get pre orders from Destiny 2, people learned from their mistakes and are being cautious by not pre-ordering, and there's only 2 consoles this time so how is destiny 2 out pre-ordering destiny 1?

Editado por Lordsa Jar-Jar: 8/8/2017 4:16:42 AM
so in what world would they pre-order Destiny 2?
I will agree, and I've said it before, it is suspicious. They are only two explanation, either the community is really, really, really dumb, or PC sales are making up a MASSIVE portion of the pre-order numbers. Though, if they actually are doing what you're saying, then yeah, that's fraud, plain and simple.

16 RespuestasEditado por SeekerofPower17: 8/7/2017 5:05:44 PMDestiny 2 preorders - 250,441 (There aren't enough PC pre-orders for it to even make the top 40 list, so they must be inconsequential). http://www.vgchartz.com/preorders/ Destiny 1 final preorder number - 2,157,478 (All 4 systems); 1,686,051 (PS4 and XBOX1 ONLY) http://www.vgchartz.com/preorders/41889/USA/ Unless they had a massive increase in the overseas numbers, I would say they are straight up lying. There is no finagling that.

7 RespuestasEditado por GalaxySpider: 8/7/2017 11:18:59 PMD1 was overhyped. Nuff said. D2 pre-order numbers are not really lower than other top 10 pre-ordered games, according to VGchartz (which is already a weird source). So why should we care? Even COD seems pretty low. A franchise played by millions of players. So what does all that say? Yes, that's correct: most people don't even bother with pre-ordering these days. Because it is pointless, basically. So why should we give a damn about what Activision says in terms of pre-order numbers, hm? If people don't like a game, they can bring it back, trade it in etc.

2 RespuestasOk mr conspiracy, tell me this do you actually know how business's work ? Particularly shareholder conferences ? Because if you had any idea then you would know that no one bullshits on sales figures to the shareholders unless you want to go bankrupt and lose your job.

4 RespuestasIf Activision played with the numbers is up for debate, one we will probably never know the truth of, because the context simply isn't stated. It's a bland statement which I could get around more than a few ways. What's amusing is all the people who think numbers can't be fudged in some manner, and cite Enron as example A. Do you people really think businesses can't get around certain aspects of these reports, or never lie in any form?
