As far as rolls, replayability is gone. You do a strike/raid until you have your weapon, and that's it.
Kind of a good thing though as it'll limit the hours people put in by a substantial amount.

And we have no idea how much content there really is as we've seen so very little of the game so far, so the lack of rng perks on weapons could be Also because a ton more weapons have been included, maybe it won't be just 1 of each weapon from the raid say but rather 3 of each type with completely different styles... Plus I think you'd kinda want to keep trying to get that weapon more and more, not for the perks but because it's power or attack would likely increase alongside your own.
