Is all the bitterness toward bungie more trendy than justified?

I think a lot of it rears it's ugly head because they see others do the same thing and it trends on the first page. I mean, if you've been playing forever and you preorder but then decide to cancel said preorder followed by a completely over the top rant with the typical "F-Bungie" crap like they are responsible for you stubbing your toe when you got out of bed this morning, you're probably an insecure male that is in dire need of being noticed, even if it's a down vote and being roasted in an epic manner. Notice I said bitterness and not criticism. There's a difference.

The bitterness is 100% justified. If you've followed Bungie for any length of time (I've been a Bungie fan since Myth II), you'd be in denial if you believed what Bungie is doing now, compared to what Bungie has done, is A-Okay. Old Bungie: amazing community, amazing games that didn't require spending $200+ to enjoy the full experience, lots of community involvement from the team (I used to love the Mail Sack posts), a more up-beat message, no Activision, no "exclusive" content, no pay wall... on and on. New Bungie: a jaded community, a Bungie "community" member that clearly is more concerned with PR than actual substance, a marketing machine that boasts gameplay options that just straight up aren't true ("if you can see it..."), a massive paywall, limited options in-game... unless you pay, sparse involvement from the Bungie team, bare-minimum communication, more concern with "hype" than actual substance, a clear road map of releasing half-a-game, then using "DLCs" to "flesh-out" the rest of the game.... etc., etc.... If we're all being honest with ourselves, it's next to impossible to deny the fall of Bungie. Did they make a massively successful game with Destiny 1? Sure. Will Destiny 2 be huge? Yup. Does that matter? Not at all. Why? Because Destiny 2 will sell very well and make lots of money (gee, I wonder why they are releasing it on PC?), but the active player base will have a massive drop-off shortly after release, which will perpetuate this massively toxic community (for good reason), forcing Bungie to make more "decisions" about gameplay mechanics and additions, further isolating Bungie fans. And the cycle continues... Make no mistake: New Bungie is a sad excuse for carrying the Bungie name. Denying this is an act of self-justification and ignorance. New Bungie fans jump from game to game. Bungie will feel this down the road and they'll be just another Dice or Massive--a drop in the gaming world bucket. It's a shame, really, I can count on one hand how many game developers are genuinely moving the gaming industry forward, rather than cashing-in on a very lucrative business model. Sadly, Bungie is just another gaming company making lots of money by milking their customers for all they're worth.

    • I thought about it the past couple months. I decided not to preorder d2. Simple as that. The only way d2 is going to be a great game, is if it actually is a great game. None of the hype is going to help, just as none of the naysayers can hold it back IF IT'S GOOD! People are still welcome to voice their opinions and concerns. This of all places is the place to do just that.

Some things are justified, in my opinion. Now, it becomes an issue when the same people pop up on almost every post, and spew nothing but negativity just for the hell of it. It's been almost 3 years, and the same people show up on posts just to be negative. They quit playing the game back in 2015, but haven't moved on. They seem to think that bashing the game, Bungie, or Destiny fans is going to change something. If I quit playing a game, I would move on, and you wouldn't find me on their forums at all. I haven't played Halo 5 in over a year, but I don't sit on 343i's website, and bash them or Halo 5 because I thought it was crap. The same goes for the last 3 or 4 CoD games. I tie my big boy shoes, and walk away. It's almost like some of the people that are constantly negative use velcro to fasten their shoes, and the velcro is stuck together, forcing them to stay here.

      • I never preorder games. That's my general rule of thumb. Partly out of being frugal, partly because I need to learn details before I blindly pay. I don't agree with half the changes. I feel they won't end up suiting the community given my experience since Taken King when I joined in. The way the community tends to act and Bungie's penchant for balancing makes me very iffy about things. There are other reasons as well but I don't see the point in arguing about it. What's done is done, either buy it or don't. That being said, even though I personally don't agree with the changes to our system, I plan on playing the open beta and regardless of how I feel, I'll probably be buying the game anyway. 60 dollars is MORE than worth it if I get to enjoy 3 more years of gaming laughter with my best friends who love everything about Destiny 2.

        • Many just like to complain. In the generation of the participation trophy whiners, for some reason it's common. In the world of the petitioners of pushing for that $15/hr minimum wage, smh at those who don't see the big picture.

              • I'll put it simply. PvP fans: You're Crucible sucks and you don't know how to balance it. PvE fans: Your PvE sucks and you only listen to the PvP players. This forum is mostly just a stomping ground for the loudest complainers from both sides of the aisle. Let them vent. They'll probably never be happy anyway.

                • So now we're trying to ignore negative feedback by saying that there's a lot of it, so it must not be genuine? I love destiny. I believe it to be the best game I've played. That being said it had many glaring problems. I was hoping d2 would be fixing the problems and just generally be a better destiny, but Bungie has failed of convincing me of that so far. Anything that sounds good to me has only been vaguely mentioned, and every confirmation seems to push me farther away. Even those salty, bitchy "I'm done" posts serve the purpose of showing Bungie that they're pushing away even dedicated fans. Too bad that Bungie can just think like you and ignore it.

                  • Depends on how much you care. History doesn't die for me, so shady practices and broken promises are hard to forget. That and it really looked like Bungie had no idea what they were doing. In anything. No clear vision, awful support, and some dumb ideas. I mean . . . Shouldn't you have all this figured out before the game even launches? You'd think.

                  • If you consider the past 3 years as a trend, I guess. Pretty long trend though. This game has received a ton of flak since launch, and most of it is justified.

                  • If you think its just trend, you must be one of those people who thought that hating on Andromeda, D1 and NMS were just a trend. Bitch, they're the top runners for the worst triple A titles of this generation. They're trash. D2 deserves everything its been getting. You just wait until Bungie announces that there will be only two sub classes... shitstorm will rise, it'll be great.

                    • No, it's justified. Bungie catering to the PvP crybabies, and ruining what was advertised as a mostly PvE game, has pissed off a lot of players. They've already -blam!-ed up Destiny 2 with the retarded weapon loadout changes. Yet again catering to PvP. I wish it would be removed from the game. It's the most cancerous part of the community too.
