So I just got kicked out of a fireteam of racists and homophobes
So I got into a group of people doing the raid and they weren't very pleasant people. One guy was was being racist, another was being just a complete jerk, and the other was homophobic.
After a while, I got kicked. Apparently, the fireteam leader doesn't allow "gay n******" in his teams.
1st off, I'm straight and Caucasian. How the f does he know? 2nd, How on Earth does Bungie let these people roam around in their games? It is honestly disgusting!
I just want people to know that this kind of behavior shouldn't be allowed in games. It isn't alright for racism, sexism, and etc to be allowed in this game. It's suppose to be a game about coming together to obtain loot, not separate because someone is different from you.
If you encounter people like this, report them. I know there are some jokes like this being thrown every once in a while, but to have people actually believe the crap they said is just sickening. I encourage it.
And Bungie, you need to put something in place for this kind of stuff. I hope you at least do something for the sequel.
Edit: You people need to understand what you are saying. "Its freedom of speech you can say what you want," is just a lame excuse. I'm all for FoS but there are limits to what can and should be said.

You keep thinking that I'm sensitive? Well too bad because? I'm not as sensitive as you think I am. I am more aggravated and disgusted that people like this exist and you people go on and say it's fine. It's not fine at all. What if one day these people come along and mess with the wrong person. They take it so badly that something really bad happens to them. Imagine if that person was a friend or relative? Are you just gonna say that it's fine and they had a right to do it?

It's one half of what makes sure we continue to have every other freedom, without it we don't have ANY freedom. Yes these things are repulsive, the key attribute of which is REPULSING. The things they said will repulse anyone with any morality naturally, and it's YOUR job to deal with these ideas, not pretend they don't exist. You can't compose an argument against racism unless you know the ideas that compose racism. So you should be using this kind of rhetoric to strengthen your own belief in equality and engage those who are bigots and racists in order to change minds, not hide from the very concept and demand censorship.

What so many people don't seem to understand here, assassin, is that FREEDOM OF SPEECH DOESN'T APPLY HERE. The First Amendment is your guarantee that the GOVERNMENT would abuse its POLICE power to censor you, or ARREST and PROSECUTE you....simply because they don't 'LIKE what you have to say. The First Amendment is why we have no POLITICAL prisoners in this country. But the First Amendment doesn't mean that other citizens or other organizations that aren't agents of the State have to meekly accept whatever someone decides to let fly from their mouth. Case in point. About 10 years ago a professional colleage (who was something of a head case) got this notion in her head that she wasn't getting the bonus she though she deserved because she was being racially discriminated against (she wasn't....she was just a poor employee). She tried to enlist me in this fight, I told her that I wasn't interested. I don't go jousting at windmills. Eventually she got into it with my current boss over this, (rumor has it) she angrily called him a racist to his face. His response? He FIRED her on the spot. (With my wholehearted support...) The discrimination suit she tried to file after that? Went nowhere. Point? When dealing with people OTHER than the government, we are only "free" to speak our minds to the extent that we are wiling to live with the CONSEQUENCES of what we choose to say. If you choose to speak out in a way that is destructive or irresponsible....your fellow citizens have every right to hold you accountable and to attach negative social consequences to the behavior. Microsoft and Sony are not the government. They are BUSINESSES...and we play these games on proprietary networks THEY own and operate. So they have EVERY right to decide that they dont' want certain actions, comments, or behaviors associated with their product and their business....and to attach negative consequences to the actions of those who engage in them. Just like my boss had every right to fire someone who had so little self control and was capable of acting so ridiculously unprofessional manner. I applaud you. Because---as I'm battling it out on another thread trying to make this same point----THIS IS HOW SOCIAL STANDARDS progress. People finally are willing to make a stand against obnoxious behaviors that used to be tolerated or accepted. They say, "No...that's is not acceptable any more...and I will not tolerated it in my presence." You'll get angry pushback. Because there has NEVER been a bigot or a bully in the history of Mankind who EVER thought his own behavior was every a problem. Its always that everyone else who objects to it are "too sensitive" or "Social Justice Warriors" or other such insulting pejoratives.

Ran into a group of racists, im hispanic and I dont get insulted by anything people say. Needless to say we got to totems, this dude was using stupid setups and I ended up killing the majority of adds and he would also dart without killing the top knight and it can get dicey when theres tons of adds and the knight firing on you. I called him out after a few wipes, (not by me by the way) and he got upset and whiny yet he was the one who posted on lfg he didnt want kids since they are whiny. So I did what I could but left because it was clear that raid was not going anywhere. If you feel awkward in a group in a raid just leave. You were invited, it is not your fireteam to dictate what can and cant be said. Its apart our freedom in our homes, country, we can say what we want. Do I agree with it? No. But again I can careless unless there is an immediate threat to my family/friends which no one will go to great lengths to do so, its all talk and if something does happen, they can meet the end of my barrel. just move on kiddo

I play every online game like the other players are cops, that live near me, gay, brown, mma fighters, with lots of guns, nothing to lose, and will tell my momma if I'm bad. I respect everyone but go overboard making sure I only offend stupid people because of their actions.

You can report them in game and if you're on Xbox, you can report them and give a detailed description. Unfortunately, what people (I use this term in the loosest sense of the word) say in party or private chat can't be policed. Hence I never play with random people. ☮️

Doesn't PSN also have a feature for reporting players for being uncouth or something like that? I know on Xbox you can look at a player and see their online reputation.

If you find yourself with these type of people just note their names and try your best to avoid them. The only reason most would talk like you said is being anonymous. just block them and you will never have to see them. Btw this is one of the main reason why lots of people avoid using mics.
