My biggest worry with D2 approaching is that everything I have seen so far makes me feel like nothing has really changed. Yes its a sequel so it should be similar but it seems like its too familiar. The biggest innovations are more so patches to things that caused issues and aspects that didn't matter in the first game (clans etc).
Especially when it comes to the content they have shown. The subclasses are basically exactly the same hunter is now a bladedancer with a staff instead of knives, the warlock is just swords instead of hammers, and the shield is super cool but it can still just be a ward so its only half new. All the elements have remained the same etc etc. There really aren't new enemies either its just red cabal. Idk it just feels like the same game with some patches and updates.
Obviously I am playing devils advocate here I love destiny and love the community it has built but I just wish they took a giant step forward to create what felt new instead of making things feel polished. This again is without playing the beta so I could eat my words but watching it didn't it feel like it is the same product perfected instead of something new to explore?
Am i being too cynical?

12 RespuestasEditado por Dog_Of_War_1138: 6/16/2017 7:06:58 AMWas KOTOR 2 a sequel or an expansion? It used exactly the same character classes and progressions, almost exactly the same skills and feats, almost the same weapons, just tweaked the customizing of the weapons and armor... Most games in the Call of Duty series are merely tweaks to a working formula... a few new weapons and perks thrown into the mix.... God of War... the same basic combat and magic system in every game, a couple new spells, a couple new combos, a new secondary weapon or two.... Uncharted series.... Dead Space.... Arkham Knight.... If you look at it this way, THERE ARE NO SEQUELS, just expansions. But I don't believe that's the way to look at it. D2 is a sequel. New engine, new weapon system, new story continuing from the end of D1.... so it's a sequel.

You're being too cynical, or Hollywood has broken your sense of what a sequel is.

2 RespuestasEditado por Talk2MeToner: 6/20/2017 2:42:47 PMIt's a sequel you'd have to be retarded not to think that. It already has more changes than any other major franchises do in their sequels. And we are still waiting for more to be revealed. Flashpoints have barely been talked about and we haven't seen a Lost Sector yet. Both of those could greatly change PVE.

No beards. Literally unplayable !!! But seriously I an in agreement with you it looks like destiny 1.5 HD. I think if they had transported us to the cabal home system then I could have bought the whole D2 sequel thing, but it does look the same. 4 planets 1 raid, 2 DLC the 1st year. Planets look the same with some palate changes, the Inverted spire strike boss looked like Atheon, or Zydron with a reskin, and the mechanics, blech. Still got cabal with dogs now. still got vex, still got taken. same enemies same AI same thing.

If bungie removed bubble from the game:" where's my bubble? I hate the changes they make!" They keep bubble: "to similar, only half a change."
-
Do I need Destiny 1 installed in order to play Destiny 2? No? Okay, so it's not a DLC.

3 RespuestasDid you know TTK was supposed to be the sequel

A sequel
I know right how could that be possible??
1 RespuestaI say wait for the beard expansion and buy it in a bundle.

1 RespuestaYes you are being too cynical. Quickest answer I can think of is this. If they don't change anything they get accused of copy and paste. If they change everything they lose the core audience. Matrix 2 wasn't that different to matrix 1 was it?

Editado por CIKiller: 6/17/2017 2:21:21 AMI guess every sequel was just a DLC.

You're not being cynical. Just cautious. Bungie are pretty terrible at selling this game (for want of a better term). To me, D2 is more of a "side-quel" at present, and I can totally understand people who call it Destiny 1.5. I'm not going to buy it on release, that's for certain, more so after the reveal and E3 interviews. ☮️

I think the biggest issue is people only check out 1 or 2 videos or a specific gaming site, and aren't getting the full view of all the changes. And Bungie has always been very cryptic and unwilling to fully share their games prior to those games releasing. If anything the new map and the director being selectable from pause menu are pretty big changes. Luke, said in an interview that we will even have some fast travel options while on each destination. Throw in guided games for normal raids, also very different and new. The way I see it they have set up a system not unlike the 100 website. You find a clan that has people that will be available to play at your weekly playtime, that fit your personality, all the while earning rep for unlockable content. People will get an opportunity to learn/see the endgame content, as well as hopefully finding core players to then run hard mode. Please explain how these changes are not substantial enough to be considered a true sequel and not DLC? Not to mention PvP changes, open world aspects, such as adventures, lost sectors, and whatever this, "flashpoint," feature is. Seems pretty different to me. But not to you? Oh, almost forgot. A whole new weapon system, including new weapon classes and mods, to change up the sandbox. So many things. Just have to read and watch all the different media out there, instead of just 1 or 2 stories posted on 1 or 2 websites.

I want Destiny 2 to feel similar, and not completely like a new game. I want it to be like riding a bike, but with a smoother ride. "Hey, this seems familiar, but what's this slight twist with _______??"
-
4 RespuestasI hate how they released all the shit we actually wanted and all the cool armour cosmetics in the last 6 months of the game. Imo D2 looks like complete ass. "All the players are going back to D1? Time to shut that one down and force them to play D2!"
-
Short answer: Yes.
-
It's a Dlc where they remove all your gear and make you regrind again. It's pathetic I thought there would of been a couple new classes at least. Hopefully they nerf weapon parts at release
-
I want a HUGE update rather than D2
-
#reboot
-
Think of it this way. Vanilla D2 is 68 gigs which is way bigger than D1 with all its expansions. Sure, some of it is graphics, but most will be content.
-
Editado por DDDChar: 6/16/2017 3:04:27 PMEverything was pre-fabbed and paved 3 years ago and they are implementing them piece by piece no matter we want them or not. Clan features like u mentioned are one of those.
-
Considering Luke Smith admitted Destiny was a huge BETA that has no true cannon (until they decide to make some of it Cannon in Destiny 3) to prepare for Destiny 2 I'd say neither one.
-
I know what you're saying. Most sequels make improvements to refine their gameplay, so they feel the same but different. Destiny never had that problem, gameplay was the one thing it got right. The gunplay was always great, animations were smooth, and controls responsive. There's very little they can do to make it better.
-
i couldn't care less, $60 isn't that much when you get 1-2 games a year, in avoiding destiny 2 spoilers so i don't get disappointed, i want it to be like destiny 1 where i knew nothing about it but still got it day one, if you don't get hyped there's nothing to be disappointed by
