I wanted to quickly share a little convo that took place the other day. This guy was referred to me by a friend because he wanted me to build a PC for him. For those of you who know me, I love building PCs and I turned that into a little side hobby of mine, helping out a few friends and after about two years I became known around my neighborhood and my little circle of friends as the go-to PC girl haha. It started with my brother who helped build my first gaming PC just so I can play with him and spend some time with him and eventually I got hooked and fell in love with it. I've gotten so obsessed that I've even taken apart my own PC and put it back together a few times haha. I'm weird like that. Anyways, long story short we chatted on Discord and one phrase that came out of his mouth really stood out and struck me a bit: "pretty girls aren't supposed to be smart." What exactly does that mean? Is it that weird for us to be doing stuff like this? Maybe PC building is a guy-only area of expertise? I'm no feminist but it doesn't take one to realize how disturbing society's view on women can sometimes be. And it's not just PC building, I get the same reaction when I tell my friends I play games. I was wearing a Destiny shirt the other day and a few guys came up to me and asked what console MY BOYFRIEND PLAYED ON. Lmao. Like, helloo?? I'm right here???? I play games too, ya know? There are no such things as girl gamers. We're just gamers. There are also those of us who love tech. Like PC building. It's something I love to do so much I don't even charge extra to put together the PCs. Yeah, I don't make any money from it lol. But that's beside the point. Don't judge a book by its cover, and this goes with anything really. You might be surprised to see what's inside ;) Anyways, mini rant over I just wanted to share that. I just thought it was a little weird. Hope everyone is having a good day and yes, Lady Ghost is back. Kinda. You probably won't see me around as much but I'll poke my head in here once in a while :)
