I'm a longtime FF fan--I started with III on the SNES (officially part 6 in the series) and since then I've beaten all of the main games except V, IX and XII. This game is a must-own as far as I'm concerned. It starts slow, but it really picks up after chapter 4. The characters are corny but endearing, and while the story isn't the greatest in the series it is pretty easy to follow compared to the nonsense that was in XIII. If you're a fan you will appreciate a lot of things. Like how the four characters make up a wide array of classic FF archetypes--Prompto is my favorite because his machinery skills are like Edgar's tools from FF6, for example. And he also has a "provoke"-like move (called star shell in this game) that makes all enemies focus their attention to a specific spot, and this is surprising because he is the weakest character in the game. Normally the weakest character is the mage (especially black mages), but another surprise--the main healer of the team also fits into the "dragoon" archetype, which is a beloved job class from the FF series (dragoons use spears and can "jump" on enemies for massive damage). Meanwhile, the "knight" character of the game, Gladiolus, also has techniques that are reminiscent of ninja classes from past games (he has a "throw" command where he throws his weapon at an enemy). All of these crazy combinations may not mean much to first timers, but they are really unique and show that the developers really had fun with mixing the game up for fans. If you're not a fan then there's still a lot to enjoy. The world is just beautiful and vibrant, for one. The battle system, like all of the games is unique but fantastic. And anyone who says that the battle system isn't good probably hasn't played the game enough to know how to actually battle, because it is really nuanced while not being overly complex. Once you start to chain armiger links, blindside links, and warp strike attacks to skills and magic and parries and all that the fights are truly amazing to be a part of and to look at. But if you don't play past level 30 you probably won't see much of that, which is why you should be careful in considering negative opinions about the battle system. One surprising aspect of the game is the pacing. Most Final Fantasy games are designed in a linear way despite creating a sense of nonlinearity. Really, all FF games are point A to B types of exercises with a few side missions thrown in as endgame content. In FFXV this isn't the case. There are lots of side quests to do, but they are limited and can be done at any point in the game as long as you are leveled enough and have reached the NPC who can give them to you. It's not without its flaws though. The magic system, compared to other games in the series is a disappointment. The magic creation system itself is really cool, but actually using magic in battles can be unwieldy and doesn't fit the rhythm of the fights themselves (imagine you are zipping past and around enemies, doing crazy combos with your teammates, pulling up special skills to chain moves when your tech bar fills, and then suddenly stopping all of that to aim and throw magic like a grenade...) The music is also nowhere near as memorable as the games released from parts 1 to 10 (after 9, the original composer left the series, and 10's soundtrack was very good but really the last in the series that had what people would call "great Final Fantasy" music). I'd say give it a chance. It's easily the best game in the series since X, and one of my absolute favorite games of the year.

Be ready for 60% of your gaming time riding in a car. And once you get tried of riding around get ready to pay 10gil too look at loading screens. Also most of the missions are going to fetch things like an errand boy. And your character runs like a pansy. But I have been loving the game. Pretty fun.

I'm not impressed so far (about 20 hours in). It's worth It's price tag though. Take this for what you will since I'm one of the few who liked the XIII trilogy. I've played and own every FF to date, and had high hopes for XV, but as of now I'd only give it about a 7/10.

As a long time FF Fan I can defiantly say that FFXV has made onto my favorite list.

As a true long time final fantasy fan, this game has been extremely disappointing, feels more like Kingdom Hearts with an awful story.

It's way better than it had any right to be. The combat is fun and satisfying (except for the camera at points), the characters are well written and performed, the story is interesting, and the open world design is surprisingly great as well as beautiful to look at. Best RPG released this year next to Dark Souls 3

Anyone watched the movie ff 15 kingsglaive? It was pretty good

I'm enjoying it. It's much better than I expected, the combat is fluid and feels good once you get over the learning curve, which is admittedly pretty steep at some points. It's set up more like a western RPG in thay its open world and you can run around and pick side quests and stuff. It also seems like it's going to be pretty long. The story is interesting and the characters are pretty cool. The one thing I don't really like is the magic system but that's pretty minor.

Awesome game, the pros outweigh the cons by a huge margin. You really won't be disappointed
