Here is the story of Thorn...
It began it's career as an incredibly hard to get (but incredibly powerful) exotic that was a year one favorite. It could 2 shot headshot, you could kind of see people though walls, and it had decent range. This weapon was to overpowered in PVP so in TTK, Bungie nerfed it. This was entirely justifiable. It now could only 3 shot bodyshot. Thorn now became a prized relic of year one and mainly served to take up vault space for most guardians. But a handful of clever guardians rediscovered Thorn's beauty and every few crucible matches you would see these guardians using this dreaded hand canon. But then, for some reason, Thorn got nerfed AGAIN for some reason with Taken Spring (April update). Now poor Thorn can only 4 shot bodyshot, the glare got nerfed (for no reason, it was just an aesthetic effect), and the time the burn lasts got nerfed. Now all that made Thorn useful is gone. Thorn was reduced to a good hand canon with great range and a little extra damage. But Bungie wasn't done with Thorn yet, they nerfed Thorn a final time, this time reducing the range. Now with RoI, Thorn is coming back, but only after you complete a difficult quest and infuse it up. Also, any guardian can nerf Thorn when they equip an artifact. So Thorn will now be reduced to a middle range, average damage hand canon that has no purpose other than take up an exotic slot that you spent months trying to earn. Exotics are supposed to be special Bungie... What's special about Thorn now?

Thorn sucked cock at release.... Kinda forgot to mention it wasn't worth the space it took up. Was still a 2 shot kill in crucible but because it sucked so bad in pve no one really bothered til it got buffed

1 RespuestaYou can still 2 shot with thorn if both are headshots and you get the final round perk to activate. Anyways the nerf to thorn was to make it have the range in line with other HCs of its archetype.

10 RespuestasAll these PVP tryhard comments really make me sick. I really wish PvP was either completely removed or was a completely isolated mode instead of weapons carrying over from PvE. It's clear there are guns that are better tuned for PvP and some that are best served in PvE, so why not just have different guns that are exclusive for each mode? Or bungie could do like everyone has been begging them to do and separate the balance of weapons from both modes. I'm sick of crucibabies crying over weapons, calling everybody scrubs just because they think a weapon is OP. Get over yourselves, you're not MLG, and maybe you're just not as good as the people overpowering you with those weapons. Here's a news flash for you, if you want balanced PVP, go play Halo or something, because Destiny will NEVER have proper balanced PVP! Quit ruining this game for everyone else, let all of us who want to experience the ACTUAL game do so without being bogged down by your constant cries.

1 RespuestaStill funny to me that the Crucible Crybabies can't let go of complaining about Thorn. To lazy to do the quest to get one and cry to Bungie about it is too OP. I thought when you grind out a quest that you get a reward. Rewarded for actually doing something besides PVP everyday. They say it takes no skill, but shotguns and snipers do? Hide in a corner and shotgun or hide in the back and snipe or go head to head with thorn, really what takes skill. Yes I have one and yes I use it every time someone on the other team uses one. Yo me it is fun to go head to head with a weapon we sweeter out a quest to get. Shut up your crying about thorn because you don't have one.

3 RespuestasPvP cryhards made it the way it is now. PvP shitheads run this game now. Thorn took forever to get. LOVED it in Y1. Used it so much even when doing Raids and my team would yell at me cuz the enemy had an elemental shield. Did I care? NOPE! I had Thorn. Fun gun. Then Y2 came along... tried it for a bit in Iron Banana and it destroyed. THEN 2.0 update. RIP. Never used it again along with many other weapons. So now it collects dust as will Y3 Thorn. I hate PvP and only play Iron Banana - not even the full week it's out either. #MakeThornGreatAgain

I use my thorn as a paper weight on my desk in the tower. It comes in handy when cayde tries to borrow glimmer for a poker game.

Agreed. With the range nerf, it's just a subpar hand cannon. It was my second exotic (after Bad Juju), and I even used it then. Despite what everyone said at the time, it was great even then ... Despite the small mag and ridiculously slow reload. What's the point in trudging through some new quest to get the new version if it's going to be outclassed by most legendaries? So stupid.
