Edit: So this post was actually just hyperbole to kick the elitist hornet's nest. I'm always honest about my experience level when I try to get into a raid, and I rarely get picked up, and haven't finished The King's Fall because of it, and that fact did get me thinking about the people that DO actually lie (if they don't quit outright) and I decided to do a little Empathic Intelligence and use that to test the level of......civility of the bungie forums toward folk that might struggle with the whole raid/matchmaking thing. I will now go through the comments and grade individuals based on their merit.
Have you ever had someone tell you they know the raid and have experience only to find out that person had little to none? And that made you were really angry because your time is far too valuable to be wasted? Here's why people do stuff like that:
10. Finding a group and getting a game going can take anywhere from 3 to 45 minutes. Double that if you don't meet certain experience/light lvl/gear requirements. Screw it. "Yea I know what I'm doing."
9. As time goes on, more and more people require experience to raid with them. Makes you wonder how THEY got THEIR first bit of raid experience, cause clearly it wasn't by playing the raid as a previously inexperienced player.....right? I'd guess they got it by lying about their experience lvl, and naturally they're not going to admit that, they're liars after all. So I just say, "Yea, I totally have experience."
8. Even experienced players can still suck and drag the team down, so the chances that they'll pick you out as the weak link before you get the hang of it are 50/50, especially if you can mask it with a higher kill count/kd. And I just say, "It's not ME messing it up."
7. You can still get on a team with a sharpa by claiming experience and then just listen when a part is being explained. "Yea I have experience. I just need a refresher on this one part again."
6. Even if they boot your for having lied, at least you got a CHANCE to experience part of the raid. If you get booted, just rinse and repeat until you find a nicer group. So, "Heck yea I have experience."
5. 70% of the time the person asking for experience is asking for experience because he or she in fact sucks and needs that extra help. You probably won't be finishing the raid regardless. So, "I have experience."
4. The other 30% are good enough to carry you and give you touch up explanations that you can use to piece the mechanics together. So "Oh I forgot, yea, thanks. Right here, right? Okay, got it this time."
3. VoG loot was too good to pass up. Croat's End was easy enough to wing. King's Fall is too hard and people are even more demanding. "Yea, yea, yea. I know how to do everything."
2. All people are hypocrites somewhere in their lives. A video game is hardly the worse place to be one. "Oh yea. I'm a good raider."
1. Your time is not actually that valuable. Really....it's not. "Yea, I've done this raid a lot. No prob."
If everyone would just help everyone instead of just trying to make your own experience as easy as possible, you'd actually have a much easier time finding experienced people in the long run down the road, but because you're selfish and mean, I have to be too. That's called karma, and you can't stop people like me....except with in game matchmaking.

Normally, I would agree with this... But... We live in the era of YouTube, and google, forums, ect... There are plenty of ways to get the experience needed to learn the raid mechanics... Do it!!

3 RespuestasPeople like you are the reason why I take the few seconds to check Grimoire if I am suspicious. If you're too lazy to watch walkthroughs on how to learn the raid or you're enough of a dick to waste the time of others by lying you deserve to get kicked. Plenty of people help the newbies or other newbies are always looking for other newbies to do it with. Some of us don't have hours in a day to waste teaching, we need to get it done as soon as possible. Respect those people by not wasting their time.
-
I just don't wanna spend 4 hours on one part *cough* oryx normal last night *cough*

No spindle? Check No TOM? Check No raids? Check 🤔
thats me in a nutshell
3 RespuestasThis is why I start every raid saying: Has everyone done this before? If you haven't I will teach you but if you lie and cause us some wipes and I find out it's cause you've never done this before I will kick you. I've taken a lot of new people threw the raid, challenge mode, and hard mode with no problems if they just say so up front.
-
If people like it or not, you do make a point. I lied when getting into my first ever VoG raid. What I did do was watching everything on youtube so I knew what to expect.
-
4 Respuestas10. Efficiency, if you don't have the dedication to get gear that works on the raid then why should we dedicate time to you? 9. Most people either get into raids with friends who have taught them enough to do stuff, have read or watched video's on it, or do the raid when it first comes out. Also there are people who don't mind taking newbs through raids, myself included, as long as you; A. tell us your new, B. Are willing to be taught, and C. able to take a joke. 8. Yes that is true, many nonintellectual people in the world there is, but the likely hood of someone who know's what they are doing messing up compared to someone who has little to no experience is vastly different. 7. This is #8 but with a shirpa 6. Nothing is gained by lying, you hurt the community by doing that and word of mouth quickly spreads. Also people like you make it even harder for less experienced people to get into raid groups. 5. Unless you have statistics and evidence to support this claim, then your argument is invalid. When most people ask for experience it's because either A. they don't have a lot of time/patience (not all of us have hours upon hours to play or are Gandhi), B. Don't care for playing with people who will die 20 times on the 1st part, C. Simply wants to get this done asap. 4. This makes no sense, please reword and I will get back to this 3. Your just listing the raids with no real point, yes VoG was the first and best raid. Having mechanics that (can no longer) be cheesed or skipped and having the right blend of difficulty and fun. Yes Crota was a rushed raid and can easily be soloed in 30-45 minutes, and Yes kingsfall is difficult (on the topic of KF, you should really pay attention to what Bungie Dev's say as they have described it as "Raid School." It was suppose to be mechanically heavy and challenging as it teaches people what you can expect from a raid). So what? What's your point? 2. That is not being a Hypocrite, that is being a liar, there is a difference. A hypocrite is someone who says one thing but does another "Your not suppose to eat Fried Chicken if your on a diet, it's bad for you" as they precede to eat Fried Chicken. Yes they are similar, and yes sometimes they can overlap, but there is a difference between the two. Also, again, people that lie to get into raid groups cause nothing but distrust to spawn into the community and cause more chaos and toxicity.
Your time is not actually that valuable.
That is a lie, evereyones time is valuable. Some of us don't have hours upon hours to do something, some of us work, some of us are parents, some of us take care of our parents. Life ain't lollipops and rainbows kid.
but because you're selfish and mean
For what? All because one day I don't feel like teaching 2-5 people the in's and out's of a raid I'm now selfish and mean? Again, life ain't all lollipops and rainbows.
That's called karma, and you can't stop people like me....except with in game matchmaking.
A. No thats not Karma, we didn't lie to you. We asked for people for experience in the raid. B. Your the one lying, people that lie don't tend to get stuff done kid C. Matchmaking for raid's have already been, time and time again, confirmed as never being a possibility. Get over it It just sounds like your just really salty for not being able to get into a group because of your own constant lying and misdeeds and for your inability to dedicate some time to learning how to do a raid. It is easy to find guides and Sherpa's, go to Recruitment and when Recruiting ask for a guide, there are Sherpa's like me out there that are willing to help "Raid Noobs." Oh btw, no. Sherpa's and Guides, like myself, will not be willing to help you out since now you've come out of the closet and admitted your nothing more then a filthy liar.

You sound like that guy who keeps dying at Totems, can't hold the "Aura of the Initiate" without dying, blows the whole fireteam up on Golgoroth, stalls the team at the platforming sections, botches grabbing the aura for the Sisters and can't snipe his own Knight. Such a sh*t attitude. There's people out there willing to help the inexperienced, there’s PvE clans that will do the same and there's 100s of videos that will teach you how to actually play the Raid. No need to join the first team you can find just to be a sandbag.
-
I don't think I'm the best by a long way and have completed the raid a few times easily the problem I have is people not willing to learn who die time after time and keep claiming that it lagged or that's not supposed to happen. Like for instance the other day doing the Golgoroth challenge we had a guy claimed he knew how to take the gaze and had done it "loads of times" yet repeatedly failed using an auto rifle. So we moved him into the pool and he kept using HoS even though he was hitting about a 10th of the damage he could've by using a sniper, after telling him this he refused to listen and the entire fire team kept saying why can't we hit enough damage? Not soon after I left. :)

I Sherpa at least one person a week. At the start of every raid I explain that I'd rather people tell me the truth than lie. If they tell the truth I will explain the raid and carry them. If they lie they will get a telling off. But I never kick people. As you have pointed out - everyone started as a noob at some point. Even me. I still remember the days of turning golgoroth instead of bubble below and shooting the daughters from behind a platform and doing Titan bubbles up top to keep Titans safe!!

Editado por S0ulBearer: 9/11/2016 11:12:22 AMNothing makes me madder than people who cant stay alive. Especially in hard mode. Lie all you want, when youre a mess and dying im just going to boot you anyway.

People who lie about experience are why I don't use recruitment forums much anymore. I quit raiding because there was so many lying little douche bags on lfg and recruitment forums. And my time is precious to me. I don't have all day and night to help people through the raid.

Well played mate.

You GoT the meaning of Karma a bit wrong there sport. It's more like the pot and the kettle. Besides, I can't speak for you or anyone else, but my time IS precious. I have a daytime job and an own business on the side these days, oh and a social Life and housekeeping to do. So I need to really get the most out of my time. I don't say I don't agree on most parts. People could be nicer and shouldn't whine About ONE inexperienced partymember. But you can't make assumptions like that About other peoples time being precious or not.

1 RespuestaYou're everything that is wrong with raiding with this. You need to explicitly find people willing to teach and ask them wuestions. Don't bog down other people's "experienced" runs. I always ask for experience when I don't have all day. When I can teach I do but I can't teach someone that doesn't admit they need help.
-
1 RespuestaEditado por Abrrinacave: 9/11/2016 5:15:12 AMIn other words you lie because you're too lazy to watch a YouTube video explaining the parts
-
And this is person here is exactly why so many people ask for experienced players
-
10 reasons why most people not only have to make elitist requirements, but then have to check people's stats, just to get an actual smooth run, because your to lazy to run a normal raid and figure the mechanics out instead of getting carried.
-
Or......OR......some of us ask for experienced players because we're tired of lazy turds like you and just want to get the freaking raid done for the week. Thank God you're on XB1 and I never have to raid with you.
-
1 RespuestaYou're within your rights to lie about your raid experience. I'm well within my rights to kick the guy who says "I know what I'm doing" after our 5th wipe at totems.
-
10 reasons why I'm glad I don't have to worry about your chipped shoulder. Learn to clan, learn to research or learn that raiding isn't for you. All you're doing is creating a self-fulfilling prophecy and wasting your time along with that of others. You want to complete a raid, research the mechanics or request a sherpa and be politely frank; up front, honest and to the point. The people who are willing to teach you can't do that if they don't know what you need to be taught. First two months of the new raid will likely be the most active and your best shot, if you can get over yourself.
-
Zzzzzzz. I made my own lfg posts and found other players with similar exp. Then I didn't have to jump through anyone else's hoops.

Pve in this game = permanent easy mode... It's one of the reasons why it's so popular.
