As one of I am sure many guardians who do not use Twitter it would be nice if we could get information about the maintenance status on the app and on bungie.net forums. I know when there are ongoing issues this is the first place I look.
An extra 4 hours was inconvenient for some of us obviously. I know I could have altered my plans sooner had I known about the added downtime. I appreciate that eventually a message was displayed in game pointing me to the twitter account, but please consider using your own systems to relay important messages.

54 RespuestasWhen services go down for maintenance I, like you, am unable to post here on the forums. The notification banners on Bnet should update with maintenance information. If they didn't reflect the extra downtime today I apologize, and will look into it tomorrow.

1 RespuestaLiterally all you have to do is go to the more>help> bungie Twitter updates>problem solved. And the best part! You don't need a Twitter to see it.
-
For all the people telling me to go get a twitter or just look up the bungie help account, you are missing the point. The companion app was literally created by Bungie for us to use as a source of information. Bungie.net is another example of a tool created by Bungie for us. If they created tools that they want us to use to get information. Then why do we need to go to a 3rd party to get information on a system update. No offense to Cozmo but if a system update to the Destiny servers takes down the forums and the ability to provide information on said system to their website and companion app, that seems pretty poorly designed. It's one thing to disable the forums so there is not an influx of posts along the lines of Bungie sucks, this game sucks, when will it be back up, my gjallarhorn was deleted by your update, etc. But to also prevent Bungie employees from providing information to their user base is just poor planning and silly.

7 RespuestasThis was another prime example of Bungie's idiocy, all server issues should have ALWAYS been posted here first; this is the games official app and they should be encouraging their players to use it. If they want to go above and beyond and post to Twitter or Facebook that's fine but your app for your game should be first!

2 RespuestasTwitter is for teenage girls who stalk their favourite boy bands. It's not for grown up gamers.

Editado por PopsAutismo: 9/10/2016 11:33:15 AMBut they can't even normally use their systems because of the maintenance. I can get it to work, but it's easier to just go on Twitter

I don't use Twitter but when I'm warned services will be down, I check the @Bungiehelp Twitter page on a web browser so I know what's going on #protipsforthosewhodontusetwitter #youstillhaveusetwittergetoverit

I dont like being herded to another 3rd party site for this game. I use enough already to just get news and stats. Twitters a mess, same with Reddit. Its hard enough for me to even keep a facebook account active. Let alone care about any more social sites. Ive never used twitter for any information. Why would I? Same goes with reddit.

I agree. -blam!- Twitter!

I agree I don't give a damn about Twitter or any of that social media. It would be nice to find it other places that's a non social media outlet. We are not all little teenagers or children living off of Facebook and Twitter to get info.

I remember seeing the press for this game before it came out...the game was going to text you and you'd be connected in every way etc etc. now I guess we just have to have Twitter to find things out? I mean I know it's known info now, but shouldn't the trials of Osiris guy tell you it's not coming back 'til the end of the month..?

This has always been a problem for Bungie. For some reason they seem completely averse to communicating with us through their own damn website for anything other than announcing a new game. Most of the inside news and updates about Halo came from the neogaf forums.

BUMP! I've never used twitter nor do I ever plan to. I can't stand antisocial media sources like twitter or waste book. I'd rather speak to someone face to face or over the phone. I visit bungie.net for updates. If the updates aren't here I don't go searching for them.

2 RespuestasEditado por meatballsublime: 9/9/2016 1:48:36 PMOn one hand, I agree 100%. On the other hand, Bungie.net did have a warning over the last day or so about this particular update. I also noticed it on the main page kind of off to the side. This is really the first time I've seen them do it, however. Usually, it is Twitter only. Having said that, Destiny was down all day long. The length of time was not stated anywhere but on Twitter. Originally, I figured it was going to be the normal 1-2 hours long starting at 10 AM CT (my time). If I hadn't already learned to Google @Bungie and @BungieHelp to see updates from Twitter, I would have had no idea the window was expected to be more like 8 hours.

Its what all the hip kids use these days.

Makes sense for twits to use twitter.

Editado por shamWOWzaMAN: 9/9/2016 1:46:05 PMThis game is going on to its 3rd year. Since day 1 there means of communication has been twitter. I hate it as much as you do but bruh adapt. edit: I just saw cozmos response stating they can't use bnet during maintenance. Another countered saying how are they able to push news if its down. This sheds a new light. I apologize for my above comment. They need to rework communications someway or another.

Kinda sad how they have a companion app and a website yet still cannot convey information without relying on a 148 character tweet. Saw Cozmo make the excuse that he can't post on the forum when it's down just like we can't. I'm sure he thought that was a quick witted response. Think he's missing the point that Bungie has all the tools at their disposal to make notifications without relying on tweeter. The thupdate when up just fine while the forums were down. Bungie could use the companion app/website to post a news update. They could add info to the banner. The companion app could send push notifications. The list of possibilities is boundless, just like their list of excuses.

Excessive BUMP!!!!!

It's annoying. I don't enjoy reading dumbed down tweets

1 RespuestaOpening the Bungie Help twitter on your Internet browser is almost just as easy as opening the app with the exception of a couple extra steps. Don't see why this is such a big deal. On the other hand, at least Deej posted that he's been addressing the team about HC ghost bullets. The update posts were written before the issue could be addressed to the public. Just be patient guys!
