The Pandemic of Anti-Intellectualism

Once, there was a time where science and the arts were widely respected. People looked up to those who were intelligent and sought their wisdom. The collective wisdom of scientists and academics were applauded. Now, instead of being embraced, intelligence is now belittled. Society is slowly killing itself through its embrace of ignorance, and denial in the face of evidence. In the face of the overwhelming evidence of climate change, we have morons in power who either outright deny its existence or refuse to acknowledge it. The Republican Party platform even called coal a 'clean' energy resource. Religious fundamentalists have even taken position in school boards and councils, imposing their beliefs which include outright denial of evolution and bioscience. We also have a mass media who instead of keeping the public informed and holding our leaders accountable, they keep their audience distracted with topics that shouldn't even get the kind of attention they do like the Kardashians and Colin Kaepernick not standing. Donald Trump knows this, and has played millions of people for fools by making himself the drug and the media reporters the addicts and despite the fact he tells a whopper every 30 seconds, he remains relevant. So instead of focusing on what really matters, instead of pushing for reform, we fight each other, we fight over whether abortion is murder, whether guns kill people, how tax should work, which Kardashian has the biggest ass, Islam, SJWs, feminism, whether climate change exists, whether there is too much or too little regulation etc. Sad thing is, it doesn't have to be this way.
