I honestly don't see the point in owning an assault rifle if you aren't an active duty member of the military. Sure there are fire arm collectors, but wouldn't that be a very expensive hobby?

1. It ain't an AR, but it appears you've been told off for that several times already. 2. To keep the government in check.

It's not an assault rifle

I'm sorry that the most I know about guns is from battlefield TBH.

No because I don't see the point of collecting expensive car either
-
Fill in whatever you want. Gun owners don't need to justify anything to anyone.
-
I'm not saying I'm anti-gun or anything, but quite simply it's pointless in modern times to collect a bunch of guns and modify them to be awesome. Maybe people can own small arms for self defense, I would understand that, but I don't find guns to be collectible unless they are some special or historical gun that has some significance. Go ahead and own guns if you want, I couldn't care less honestly, I only care if someone dangerous gets a weapon, not specifically a gun.

Editado por BlackMormon: 8/30/2016 11:42:07 PMWhile I carry a revolver daily for self defense I own my rifles out of a senseless of obligation. They are for any eventuality from Yellowstone volcano to alien invasion. When things get bad the people with pistols will take from the people without and those with rifles will take from those with pistols.

That's your opinion, not everyone shares it.

I think I have made it clear it is my opinion.

You don't see the point in investments?
-
How do you invest money by buying a bunch of expansive cars? Don't you realize that cars loose value over time, not gain value.
-
Editado por Nihlus: 8/30/2016 10:41:54 PMMass produced vehicles do drop in value. Not the cars these collectors get. For example, a Porsche 911 from the 1990s was worth $50,000 10-15 years ago. But since it's the last air-cooled Porsche model ever produced. Many of them are currently worth $250,000-500,000. A newer example is the McLaren P1. It had a msrp of around one million dollars. They are already reselling for $3-5 million and in 10 years it may fetch $10 million like it's predecessor, the F1. This is more reasonably attainable for most. You can rebuild a classic muscle for under a $30,000 budget and the sell it for $50,000-80,000 or more depending on the demand.
How do you invest money by buying a bunch of expansive cars? Don't you realize that cars loose value over time, not gain value.
This isnt true it depends
-
It's true in almost every case, except for when a car has some cultural significance, or is very well made.

Car hobbies are also extremely expensive and so is just about any other hobby. A legit RC car is about 300 to 500 so it's just a matter of point of view

You can't buy an assault rifle
-
Wrong, you can buy one. You just cant manufacture one. To buy one however you must apply for and be approved to own one by our benevolent government. Because they are illegal for civilian manufacture the available legal assault rifles (rifles capable of firing multiple rounds per trigger pull) are in very short supply. To get an ar15 lower reciever capable of firing in burst or automatic you will spend anywhere from 15k to 25k. They are incredibly expensive for us peons. Especially when you factor in the fact that making a standard semi auto ar15, automatic, takes less than 15 minutes of machining and 2 dollars worth of metal.
-
No shit sherlock. What I meant is that unless you have the 20k or more you're not getting ahold of one. Which is far from most people's disposable income and hence why you can't buy one
-
Assault rifles don't cost 20,000 dollars. You might want to think about doing a bit of research before throwing around ridiculous numbers and calling other people stupid.

If you want to go through the hassle of getting a stamp to own a 30 year old automatic weapon at that price, yes. Or you can buy a semi automatic m4 for around a thousand dollars
