The Walking Dead is pretty good, but I don't think it scratches Tales from the Borderlands - that one was just hilarious. And I'm a sucker for an adventure story instead of a tearjerker. I'd always recommend Tales to someone as their first try at Telltale - I lost count the amount of times I couldn't breathe for laughing.
Anyways, I think they go hand in hand, gameplay alone can't grip me. A good story is a fun experience - just like a book or a movie. They aren't a lesser experience. I see these kind of games with just a different style of gameplay.
No hate, just replying. You do you, but I really do think people who brush them off as 0 gameplay games are missing out. That, and I'm sorry, but calling them "games" like that is a total dick move :p
They are games.

I actually kind of enjoyed tales from the borderlands, it was indeed hilarious and the only reason I kept playing it. I suppose they are games in a way, much like the old school text based games. You just choose what to do next basically, only with telltale there's the occasional qte scenes. When I play games I want to actually play them and not have to sit there for half an hour listening to characters with their drama only to press a few buttons in between. I am definitely biased against telltale, mostly because all the games I've played them I didn't enjoy in the slightest save for borderlands. I am rather fond of making fun of them and calling them "games" though. I don't mean to offend anyone but they hardly have qualifications to call it a game, they're basically interactive movies for the most part. And judging by reviews of these games the critics generally forget all about the actual gameplay part which I think makes or breaks a game, they just pretend it doesn't exist. Idk, just bothers me for some reason. Lol
