I don't like the idea of a 'pvp' only class of weapon.
No other weapon is 'pvp' only.
Double its current damage in pve. For what little ammo it has double the damage makes sense.
Edit: I appreciate everyone contributing to the conversation. At least we're having one.

Its crazy how so many people are against a buff to a weapon that barely anyone uses in PvE. This isn't PvP were talking here. It isn't going to break the game if sidearms are a little bit stronger. "A sidearm is a back up weapon... Blah blah.." Who tf cares? A buff would make more people use them. Most people are still going to hide with their sniper rifles anyways.
-
What they need to do is make sidearms like how they are in The Division. Double damage to enemies who are below 30% health. That allows them to fulfill their intended roll: a backup weapon to pull out when your mag runs dry and you need to finish off some enemies.
-
2 RespuestasDouble damage would make shotguns useless. Give it utility like double damage to shields.

31 RespuestasEditado por DukeRains: 8/15/2016 5:57:40 PMYou can't double damage in PvE only. It's both or neither. EDIT: They SHOULDN'T split buffs/nerfs. Guns should function the same in both PvE and PvP. That's what I meant.

1 RespuestaId argue that The First Curse and Chaperone are both PvP only weapons....
-
While as weak as they are. They do alot more damage then you think. Sometimes it out damages my auto rifles, and doesn't activate the hobgoblin shields. Although to me it seems range finder on it is broken cause a same base range queens choice out damages my same base range with range finder iron wrath.
-
I like my sidearm in PVE but that's because it is a queens choice that rolled with high caliber rounds and range finder. One time I ran a heroic strike with airborne and was boosting in place up and down to pop off a few shots on a boss at a time and was still landing crits of 2400 from way far. A fellow guardian just stood there, watching, baffled, as to what I was doing. That was fun. This just goes to show you it could use a buff.

1 RespuestaNo Land Beyond is a PVP only gun. That thing is complete trash in PVE.
-
I'm down with this idea.
-
Yeah, I have to agree. I run sidearm a lot in crucible, but it's damn near useless anywhere else.

13 RespuestasDude one of my favorite pve weapons IS a sidearm. Queens choice bro. Amazing in pve.

Editado por logunmania: 8/15/2016 3:08:17 PMSide arms are good for finishing targets for when you run out of a primary ammo clip. And its your only secondary with a fast fire rate. It would be challenging to use NLB with a side arm. There needs to be an exclusive perk for side arms... maby Bottomless clip with more rounds in the magazine. Id be like a mini machine gun. Or switching to your sidearm and firing refunds an entire clip.

4 RespuestasI'd be happy if sidearms were in their own slot. Fits better with the idea of a sidearm. It does not seem to fit into the role compared to the other types in the secondary slot. I'm not sure how that could be implemented or accessed (double tap of weapon switch button?), but I have always thought this would be a better use for them.
-
Also increase shotgun dmg in pve. Both are garbage for all pve activities because we'll you'll probably be killed first.
-
3 RespuestasJust Dreg's promise. I use sidearm every once in a while and they work great, except the exotic. It does so little damage in PvE that I use all its ammo to kill one yellow bar.....
-
3 RespuestasI agree but Bungie have said they want everything the same across PVP and PVE and sidearms are fine in pvp so nothing will happen
-
It probably doesn't need a double in damage but I agree a little increase would be perfect, I would only use a sidarm
-
6 RespuestasThis is an understatement. EVERYTHING needs a PvE Buff.
-
6 RespuestasI agree. Also shotgun pve damage needs to be restored. Maybe a tiny bump in fusion rifle damage? Snipers are fine. I think?
-
What? Good rolled side arm are [monsters[/i] in pve. You literally just need feeding frenzy and high caliber rounds and then you can lean on your side arm while using your primary.
-
I do think side arms should be buffed, they are weak, they give them a superfast rate of fire that works for nothing in the general sense much like a pea shooter going from 2 to 80 mph if the damage is the same it's not going to make any difference. I think Some should have the same power as hand cannons
-
They are definitely viable for pve, just boring compared to a sniper or a shotgun

2 RespuestasEditado por 氷水啼エジル・ギュミ: 8/15/2016 4:11:52 AMFor real. I've been farming for this 5k points for 5+ grimoire forever. ;_; Almost there! Less than 500 to go!
-
I agree. Sidearms need a large damage buff. Or, to compensate, an innate perk that does extra damage at the last 30% health of a pve target or bonus damage to shields. Just something that would make the conscious decision to choose sidearms to be viable.

11 RespuestasQuestion is who would even use a Sidearm over a sniper in pve
