Good evening everbody! This is Aifos, coming to you a-live from the soon-to-be-former Guardian boss battle! How are y'all doing tonight?
I'm pretty sure you've all played a remaster/reboot of a game at some point in time. Sometimes, like in the case of Skullgirls 2nd Encore, these remasters are great! They add new modes, fix bugs, enhance graphics, so on so forth.
Other times they're.. Not so great. Somehow, they took a working game, and broke it. Now, I'm no game designer, but I can't blame them entirely. I've played Project Spark, and know what it's like to make a game-breaking bug you don't know how to fix..
But still, these remasters are just.. Bad. They did something to mess everything up, while making everything pretty. And as someone who values story & gameplay over graphics, that's not good.
"It's not good if you put graphics first, either. If it's broken, it's broken."
Hm.. Good point, Lev, but I think they get what I'm saying.
"Tl;dr?"
This is my point!
What are some of the worst remasters--compared to their original games--that you've played?
My answer:
I'm going to have to go with the Darksiders II Deathfinitive edition. It's bad. Delayed sound effects, and framerate drops are everwhere, due to their enhanced graphics that I can't even tell the difference with.
I love Darksiders II, but the original is just better.
Gears Ultimate Edition. The graphics are great but they left the terrible hit boxes and bullshit glitches in the game.
-
GOD OF WAR

1 RespuestaDishonored on the current gen. Its a port. Nothing changed.
-
8 RespuestasEasily the MCC, anybody who says otherwise is lying or hasn't played the MCC. I'd rather play the ultimate alliance remasters. on pc. with a controller. A mad catz controller.
-
1 Respuesta'Silent Hill HD collection' or whatever it was called. Way to screw up an absolute classic, Konami.
-
All of the RE remakes. I swear those things come out every 6 months.
-
1 RespuestaPerfect Dark Zero. Perfect Dark is one of the greatest games of all time- blatantly stealing the best of golden eye and adding so much more your head would spin on the multiplayer (either solo or split screen). Bot usage was amazing. I was stoked for Perfect Dark Zero... The remake of one of my favorites... Which was a cluster of disappointment wrapped in a bag of wet dog fur...

4 RespuestasPrototype. It made the game worse...

2 RespuestasGears of War ultimate edition pc..... Absolute disgrace

Uncharted the ND collection
Oh, you didn't say the best.
6 RespuestasSkyrim remastered, weakest 3D scrolls and they're remastering it. What gets me annoyed is nobody plays the other because graphics
-
2 RespuestasDishonored I can barely tell a difference in the graphics.
-
The Dead Island Xbox One remaster was terrible. The game looked great, until you decided to touch the controller. Instant 30fps headache.
-
Battlefield 1
-
Majority of them. As most exist to get players to purchase the exact same game again, just on a current platform.
-
14 RespuestasSkyrim. Because Bethesda thinks I've going to pay regular new game price for a remaster with a few hours of new content and some (IMNSHO) useless mods. If I wanted to see nudity in a video game, I'd play Thief like a normal pervert. Also Normal Pervert is my new band name. We are a industrial/bluegrass fusion band, if you must know.

4 RespuestasI'd say Prototype, but that wasn't a remaster, it was a downgrade.

1 RespuestaCan someone explain to me why MCC was so bad?
-
1 RespuestaI hated how the halo CE anniversary multiplayer was dlc in reach.
-
1 RespuestaHalo CE Anniversary Edition. I was very disappointed by the multiplayer. I hoped it would be like Halo CE styled with the armor and maps, but sadly it was just Halo Reach....

Broken steel 3 He's half the man he used to be

MCC, one of the only games I regret buying

3 RespuestasMaster Chief Collection, I can't tell you how excited I was watching E3 when that got announced. I stopped following anything happening with it after a year, so I don't know the state of it now.

The Zone of the Enders remasters. Z.O.E. 1 was never was favorite game game of mine, but HD visuals only pointed out and made more obvious polygon edges when characters were zoomed in on. But that's nothing compared to the sin of Z.O.E. 2 were the frame rate was cut in half. I'm not a frame rate snob, but if a game was designed for 60fps and runs at 30 fps instead, that's called a -blam!-ing problem. I read it was resolved by modders, but I still haven't gotten back to it.
