I got the fabled Necrochasm out of the locker.
Used it and loved it patrolling.
Remembered the HELL I went through to get it.
Joined a buddy for some strikes who told me to put it back in my locker as it's useless at end game.
I put it back in there with thorn, vex, all my elemental primaries.
I was out patrolling with vex and some kid couldn't believe what was happening.
He'd never seen it before. The vex.
He checked out my load out then sent a message saying "oh I thought you had something cool, sorry" then zoomed off on his sparrow.
Remember when you told us you wouldn't want us to feel like you've wasted our time? Disrespected our weapons we love and worked for?
Yeah you did both those things.
Weren't we supposed to have age old weapons with cool stories behind how we got them?
We just have year two weapons. And they're all bland af. With n chance at all of someone stopping to take a mystified and excited look.
You really, REALLY -blam!-ed this entire thing up.
What's funny is the kid thought something amazing was happening.
Then he realised I was some kind of old player trying to hold onto something I thought was ace.
Hahah. I turned the game off.

29 RespuestasOkay, let's think about this, shall we? The main purpose of the game is to keep growing stronger, right? That way, you are more fit to take on the enemies of the darkness. So naturally, when you do increase in power, you will earn more powerful gear than what you had originally. But, if I read this correctly, what you want is for ALL legendary weapons (and the remaining exotics, as well) to be brought up to max power levels. Let me remind you how that doesn't work. Remember The House of Wolves? You could take your fatebringer, your vex, your nechrochasm, whatever you wanted, and max it out to the highest light level. Now, think about this: after you raised all of the weapons you wanted to 365, were you ever excited about weapon drops? I wasn't, because I already had weapons that were 2x better then anything I could get from any end game activity. Why would I use Her Mercy (the hand cannon earned from PoE) when I have the Fatebringer? Why would I use the Iron Banner scout rifle (I don't remember the name, give me a break) when I have Fang of Ir Yut and Vision of Confluence? The old weapons were so good, that I didn't have to grind for weapons because no weapon I was going to get was going to be better than what I already had. Do you see the problem here?

1 RespuestaIt's important to stop every now and then and realize that we're too good for Bungie/Activision. We're too loyal, forgiving and willing to accept whatever they feel like doing. We don't do anything about it, the game is why we're still here. I just think it's important to remember that they suck. These posts are important. Also, I had a great time using Necrochasm in IB last week and screaming "Necrochasm mother fúcker!" after it killed someone.

1 RespuestaI agree with you man. And really, why are all the Y2 weapons so boring?

10 RespuestasI was doing Lord Shaxx's quest line and brought out the fatebringer for part of it and was destroying everyone with it in the crucible. The year one weapons still rule in the crucible if you are doing unranked game types.

Notice they all go on a comped holiday straight after nerfing everything.

Was playing yesterday and I had a revelation, Destiny isn't fun anymore.. I remember when our only complaint was how bare the game was, but you know what kept everyone playing? It was fun Somewhere along the line of adding content, they traded it in for fun So I went back to playing Black Ops 3 and Overwatch and that was a blast Only thing I want from the game is exotic class items from the factions, if it wasn't for that i wouldn't touch the game anymore.. So I can only imagine how many people have already gave up because there isn't anything left for them to stay since the game isn't fun anymore..

2 RespuestasWell in the end there was no reply from bungie. No commiseration. Nothing. Cheers guys.

They will probably make us re- grind for vex and necro, I'll go back for the vex, necro, well, probably not... :/

I can't bump enough. It's a real shame, after all the time and effort we put in to getting the best weapons and armor, they die. It took me about 10 weeks of straight grinding every raid, nightfall, and PoE to get my Gjallarhorn from the exotic chest in VoG. It took me 30 -blam!-ing straight weeks of grinding Templar on all 3 characters to finally get fatebringer. All these weapons we grinded days for, left behind, gone. Bump

3 RespuestasAbout a month ago or so I decided to start a Hunter and really enjoyed using those Year 1 weapons again; Ice Breaker, Vex, Thorn, Swordbreaker, etc. If you are strictly running some patrols it's pretty fun to pull some of these guys out for a little dusting off. I sort of understand not bringing Year 1 weapons forward (though why did they cherry pick Badger, Longbow, Patients & Time, etc. to come forward). I liked someones post about not being able to obtain prior years weapons in the current year, but if you have it you can bring it to max level. What really irks me is the gear. It makes no sense why gear cannot be brought to new light levels. Loved my VoG Warlock helmet, the Crota robes were BA! We worked hard for that stuff and now it just sits in the vault. You want people to express themselves and be different, so let that gear come forward.

Nailed it.

2 RespuestasI still think it's hilarious how hard we had to work to get the Necro and how ultimately disappointing it was. And then they buffed it at the same time they released a new expansion making it totally worthless in endgame content. Good times. But yeah what you say is true. The Fatebringer was by far one of my favorite guns and I gringed VoG so many times in hopes of getting it to drop. When it did I never put it away. Sure it caused some to not use any other guns. But you know a remedy to that? Have alternatives that are just as good. Let guns drop with perks that people actually LIKE and are USEFUL. I swear to god every time I see partial refund or danger close or surrounded I immediately delete whatever it is. Getting good drops outside of reward packages is so bloody rare. Even in packages it's rare. And none have ever come close to what the Fatebringer was to me. Very disheartening. I've gone through so many crucible reputation packages in hopes of getting a Lord High Fixer and the only two I've gotten have been borderline useless. It's like "YES! I finally got it!" and then I see the perks and cry a little. That's what I miss about year 1. At least you could count on some drops being good :/

Bungee robbed us of year 1. We payed over 100$ and now all that stuff is unusable from dark below and house of wolfs. What?
-
It's funny, , that we are holding on to these old weps. Myself included. With the hopes we will be able to level them for all content use. Or for nostalgia. Then some complain about vault space. It would be nice btw. I think if Bungie were to do something about legecy stuff. They will keep the reearning model in place. Like with the y2 exotics or the recent legendaries. That being said. Ill still keep some oldies but goodies just in case.

My take on this is, so we aren't allowed to use the same guns for however long we want, but that level 41 captain can use the exact same solar shotgun as their level 2 captain cousin in the cosmodrome? The darkness literally has 3d printers each with one file to copy from, the guns are NEVER different from one dreg pea shooter to the next, not a single functional difference; but we, the ones who literally come back from the dead as daily routine, killing each other for sport, have huge variability in weapons... and a bullet from this shadow price does less than half of this other one, and we don't know how to reproduce this effect with everything we have. Seems legit.

4 RespuestasYeah I keep those old weapons and armour in the vault - hoping those initial HOURS UPON HOURS figuring out the first 2 raids, which lead to the sweet loot, was not a waste of time in terms of "building a legend" eg what we were told the game was about doing. Nope. That level 9 Fallen Captain by the Ember Caves still causes me grief and a swarm of level 12 thralls can still quite easily kill me. Possibly easier than they could in year one. If we were fighting new, more powerful enemies I could understand - but they're not. In fact they're harder to kill now because we don't have elemental primaries. I still play the game but it's not the same sort of fun as we had last year.

1 RespuestaThey messed it all up sure RNG was annoying and random it was a double edged sword stress was big but that excitement you had to get stuff was memorable. everything was fine. Now is trying to fix something too much.

2 RespuestasI've been busting out necro for the arc burn heroics . If small arms is on at the same time, nechro feels stronger than it ever did in y1 Fatebringer almost gets to y1 feel but the general HC nerfs affect it. Love rolling the vex whenever I can, even that solar omnigul a couple weeks ago, gotta switch out before finishing or your rewards drop lower light.

This post needs to be pinned on the forum as well as printed up, taken to Pete Parson's office and promptly nailed to the top of his desk. Copies should be put up all throughout the halls with one being hand delivered to Luke Smith. We don't need Bungie telling us how we should think or what we should do. WE KNOW WHAT WE WANT. There is nothing anecdotal about that...
