Stuck at 300
Hey Guys,
I was playing Destiny a lot up until TTK (My son was born so I did not have time).
Now i'm back and seems a lot changed....
I'm stuck at light level 300 and I'm not sure whats the upgrade path. i LOVE raids but looks like I'm not fit for the normal raid yet and also nightfalls.
So, what do i need to do?

do strikes and factions packs until around 315 then you can start the normal raid and then prison of cancer and hard mode

I'm at 331. Barely play this game at all. Just get into the challenge of elders or wait for IB.

If you have the time, you can definitely do a normal mode raid, as it is recommended 290 light. Just look around on the forums or the lfg sites for a good team, because you could get the whole raid done in about an hour.

Challenge of Elders has a recommended light of 320, but trust me, you can do it at 300. I took a break too, I was at 305, made it to 320 in about a week doing strikes and CoE. CoE is nothing like PoE. No mines, no intercepting target. Just straight horde mode with a boss, only three rounds, not five.

Honestly just play the game. You can get blues up to 320 from poe 41 Strike specific loot above your light Rank up packs above your light Exotics above your light.

I did challenge of the elders to increase my light level. And congrats on the kid brother.

Prison of elders and use some 3oC to farm exotics they will be over 300 when decrypted plus the end loot in poe lvl41 is over 300 Even strikes u might get a 300 drop oh don't forget the court of oryx

As others said, do the daily vanguard bounties and rank up the vanguard and faction. You should get items above your level. Same with the gunsmith. test his guns and rank him up. You can do these on patrols and get more rep from the patrol missions or do them as part of doing heroic strikes and get more rep that way. I can't comment on how to do it in PVP, I don't play much of it.

Rank up factions, then do the raid when you're comfortable.

I got my light up with vanguard and dead orbit rank up rewards. They max out at 330 but you can get to that atleast

What everyone said. Just make sure you're wearing your highest light in each slot when you decrypt. So you have a chance of getting something with higher light

You are more than prepared for a normal raid and be able to hold your own. All you need is a good impact sniper and a machine gun. Rockets work in some parts. Sleeper simulant is also a help at the boss fights. Black spindle is useful as well at warpriest and golgoroth. Note black spindle mission is available anytime now if you haven't gotten one yet.

Iron banner and faction/vendor rank ups and court of oryx got me over that hurdle. Not done yet but at least got to 324 so far. Have had horrible rng luck with blues from strikes dropping up to 320. Highest I have ever personally got was 315. 3 of coins will also help with exotics dropping at a higher level than you

any strike playlist! blue engrams drop up to 320 light. farm those blue engrams (run the heroic strike playlist for a higher chance on legendaries!)

Exotics engrams do this too (335) normal raid drops to 320, as does level 41 prison hard raid drops ton335, as does challenge Keep in mind the drops are relative to your current level
