Just to preemptively clarify the poll. The reason i have the two doubled is so those who aren't a part of the current console generation can participate. Like PC gamers or WiiU or future NX people (I'm definitely picking up the NX when its out).
I have a theory about the next cycle of consoles, but I wanted to take a quick survey as to what/how you guys think about the next console cycle.
Also, I'd appreciate a brief explanation behind your guys choices. Why you are choosing to upgrade to what, or why you're not.
Lets have a good discussion, leave that fanboy shit outside. This is meant to be a friendly, rational and respectful discussion.
-edit-
Nice guys, the results are what i expected, and thanks for the replies and keeping it civil :)
-edit 2-
Gotta say an impressive number of you guys participated in this poll/topic, and whats more you guys have kept it super civil. Keep it up guys, I'm liking the reasons behind your votes.
The majority seems to want to stick with the current consoles they own, and those picking up the new ones seem to be mainly those who already own the older versions(or v1.0 if we wanna steer clear of negative sounding phrases like old version).
I kind of expected that to be the case which leads me to the question; how are these new versions gonna do?
MS seems to have more riding on the scorpios success (and more to lose) than Sony with the Neo. If this poll is of any indication, the new versions wont be too popular, especially if their price point is where i expect it to be (the scorpio in particular with what it's supposed to be capable of, I don't see it being less than 600).

1 RespuestaSo long as Scorpio runs better that the regular xbone then I'm buying it
-
We don't need anything better. 4K isn't a huge deal and FPS over 60 is hardly noticeable.
-
I don't have a 4k TV and don't plan on getting one anytime soon so don't think I"ll be going either route & stick with both my PS4 & XB1.
-
1 RespuestaNo 4k tv= no scorpio. So no point in worrying about it
-
1 RespuestaI still don't understand the point of owning these .5 consoles. Especially the Scorpio. What's the point of all that power when developers still have to develop for the xbone? There's no incentive to buy it, unless you already have a 4K TV, in which case it will likely be more affordable to simply buy a PSNeo.
-
Sticking with the ps4 for as long as possible, I have no money
-
2 RespuestasUnless my PS4 dies on me, I see no reason to just upgrade for the hell of it. I don't even have a 4K TV to take advantage of that power.
-
I got a PS4 and depending on the Neo I will get either the X1 Slim or the scorpio. Not sure about scorpio because if I can get a better PC for whatever price they make then I wouldn't get it and just get a PC instead. Really hope the NEO turns out great.
-
1 RespuestaI'll be getting a NX, however I have no intention of buying a Neo or Scorpio. I've had my Xbox one a year and a half and have maybe 3 games that weren't available on last gen. I also don't own a 4K tv so I don't see the point in upgrading to a mid cycle console. Unless we start seeing Scorpio exclusives down the road I find it pointless to buy. Especially at launch. May as well just upgrade my PC for a cheaper price with all these Xbox/windows 10 exclusives.
-
7 RespuestasHave these been announced?
-
I have both PS4 and Xbox One (and quite a basic smart HD 50" TV) and not planning to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. If one of the consoles I have stopped working that would change things (but would all depend on release dates etc) and after seeing some of the Sony VR game (EVE, Battlezone) the idea of a VR headset does seem more appealing which might make a Neo upgrade more likely especially if there is a good deal and a whole Neo / VR bundle.
-
3 RespuestasI'm going to upgrade to ps4. I was waiting to hear about the NEO first. When I found out it would good for 4k tv and VR, I figured I wouldn't wait for it because I don't own a 4k tv or VR gaming system. Why spend the extra money?
-
1 RespuestaI know I'm gonna regret it the second the Scorpio comes out but the XB1 S looks really cool and I've never done anything XB-related so I'll give it a shot.
-
1 RespuestaI already bought one I'm not dropping another 500 on a minimal processor and HDD upgrade.
-
1 RespuestaNow why would anyone in their right mind spend money on either of these "new" consoles?
-
-
I put ps because all of my irl friends have PS and I have an xbone.
-
-
I don't know yet tbh, no games have me sold on Next gen.
-
1 RespuestaAs for the Neo, you should consider that the results of this poll will very likely change once Sony publicly reveals its console.
-
NX Zelda looks hype. ...But yeah probably Neo as well
-
I'll be getting a gaming PC soon. Super excited for that. As for the console, well I'm guessing a lot of XB games I might want to play would be available on PC too so probably the next gen PS4 console. Don't know about Neo though. If my current PS4 starts to show age then I might.
-
An RX 490 crossfire GPU setup for my PC.
-
I think I might finally convince myself to take the plunge and buy/build a pc. I think I would just rather be able to upgrade my own existing system then need to buy a new box every 3-5 years. I dunno though, I'll have to learn more about bro and Scorpio
-
Sticking with current consoles. I have my PC for high end.
-
Im probably gonna get the scorpio.. my ps4 is so boring and e3 definetly did not excite me since all they really showed was more single play games that i will most likely play through once and never touch it again....
