If I preorder the expansion to get a reskinned weapon that I already earned in year one, is it going to be made obsolete when year three starts?

all Y1 weapons got invalidated a few hours after you started playing TTK. I went back to blue weapons and armour for a while as it was more powerful than my y1 legendary gear. Also you already paid for the content in Y1. Yup, they are selling an item to the community that is re-skinned :( Right now I'm actually thinking of finishing my guardians story right now :(
