"You've had three years to upgrade to the current generation."

It seems like anyone saying this is completely missing the point. Bungie made the choice to release this game on old hardware, releasing multiple DLCs for older gen players to build their characters through. Logic would dictate that Destiny 2 would be where they go purely current gen, where Bungie have said you'd be starting new characters and would be going through all new progression. Instead older players are being cut off 3/4 through Destiny 1's life. That's over $100 of added content and untold hours of progression which now has to come to an abrupt end, and if they want to pick up their character again, they not only need a new console but they need to rebuy everything. I mean, I guess people could buy a new console - but buying a full priced Xbox One or PS4 would be throwing money down the drain right at this point, with new iterations (XB1 slim, PS4.5) of both to be announced at E3, not to mention more higher end models rumoured to have more power (Scorpio). Not to mention the current generation so far has had one, maybe two must-play exclusives on each console, neither of which have proven to justify a purchase. The simple question is why couldn't this leaving of the last gen happen at Destiny 2, where it makes infinitely more sense and doesn't come at the expense of last gen players who have already committed to this game? This is just another questionable move in a series of questionable moves by Bungie since this game launched. It's absolutely poor form to have people buy into the long term commitment which is Destiny 1, have them invest in high priced DLC, and then unceremoniously drop them 3/4 of the way through. Here's the bottom line: If there's not a way for people who "upgrade" consoles to get the DLC they've already bought again at some kind of bargain, then Bungie are kissing a portion of the memberbase goodbye. If either current gen console isn't going dirt cheap around September or whenever to justify people putting money into an almost obsolete consoles when there's presumably new models under a year away beyond, then Bungie are kissing a portion of the memberbase goodbye. This game ain't so great that people are going to bend over backwards for it anymore, not after repeated burns.
