The Doctrine of Passing is a bit overpowered in my opinion. Bungie should, in my opinion, just bump the range on it and the archetype in general down a tad. Nothing major but I feel like the real problem most people and I have is getting melted across the map by it. Please don't shit on me saying I'm crying for a nerf that would kill the weapon, all I'm looking for is balance in the wonderful game mode of crucible. If Bungie didn't touch it I'd be fine.
Edit: grammar fix
Edit 2: Lots of people saying I'm asking for a major nerf that will kill the gun. No I'm not, not at all. All I'm asking for is a slight change in its range (maybe 3-5 points down) to make it so the gun can't kill as effectively at scout and pulse rifle ranges. Cheers :).

It's not just its effective range but how easy it is to manage. Compare it to a Diluvian which also maximizes rate of fire. The Diluvian has very low base stability and range that can only be modestly improved. But you still have to work to control it. That's the way a 100 rate of fire weapon should behave. It's really a combination of it's base stats and potential roll that make it so strong.
-
I agree that there's something funky about how effective this gun is but I also know there are weapons out there that can counter it. I've had some success with similar high RoF auto rifles like Soulstealer's Claw. Hell, I gunned down a Doctrine user using a sidearm lol.
-
It's not that the gun itself is overpowered its the fact that it comes with perks that make it unstopable.
-
11 RespuestasDefinitely OP as hell. I've never hated an auto rifle so much before. It completely defies the auto rifle viable combat range. Do you know why? Because while the percentage of damage drop off on a lower rate of fire gun that does more damage will affect the overall damage output quite a bit, (For example 30% of 20 is 6 damage taken away per bullet) this drop off affects bullet hoses relatively less. (30% of 12 damage is around 3.5) Now, you might say "But Axel, that means each shot only does 8 or 9 damage", and that's without precision damage by the way. Take into account that doctrine fires so damn fast that it'll still pump 10 rounds into you before a slower auto gets 3 or four off and you begin to see why doctrine is so lethal at range. The damage to drop off percentage ratio is broken. A slower rate of fire auto will do 56 in 4 shots without precision at 30% drop off. Doctrine will do 90 with 30% drop off in the same time

7 Respuestasnerf my range?? What the hell are you smoking? it's already been nerfed. Here is something for you to try. GET GOOD!!!!
-
Here we go again...
-
Ya looks like a great gun, very powerful and a real match for mida I think. I don't have one, am likely never to have one, doesn't mean I'll call for it to be nerfed.
-
Here...have a mute.
-
Oh look, it's another Meg.
-
I think they should buff the impact on low rof autos. And add a tad range across the board, as dropoff bsrely hurts the doctrine, just the recoil itself.
-
But why does the hawksaw destroy it every time?
-
Yeah! Let's nerf everything Woohoo! There's a -blam!-ing nerf post everyday! This is -blam!-ing ridiculous!
-
Finally... Someone made a thread addressing the Doctrine of Passing and how OP it is! About damn time I say.
-
5 RespuestasHere is a idea, it is balanced. Simply don't get in close range of it. I know what your going to say "blah blah look at the Titan with a doctrine scrub". I personally like to get in close quarters engagements and I sometimes will switch back and forth from that to soul stealers claw pending on the map. However big maps I switch to Final Duty. Its about switching your tactics. You crying about nerfs, you are part of the problem.
-
5 RespuestasNotice how you're complaining about an op gun. I also noticed how you have an op gun equipped. (1kys) who's the real hypocrite here?
-
8 RespuestasI remember when no one used bullet-hose auto rifles in year one. Come year two, and a quarter of the population EXCLUSIVELY used Doctrine of Passing. K I L L M E P L S

The Doctrine has only recently been nerfed. If you are still getting consistently killed by it, then for the love of the Gods learn to counter and adjust your playstyle. The Crucible, right now, is about as balanced as it has even been, and yet still people bitch and moan whenever they happen to get killed by one weapon or another. Maybe if people spent more than five minutes in the Crucible it might give you a broader perspective?

get eaten to death by fire ants.
-
6 RespuestasThen Tlaloc and mida should be nerfed because they always win at their effective range, same as doctrine.
-
I hope they don't... Cause then I would be terrible and I love her just the was she is.... She's my year 2 Fatebringer... Or Gjallahorn... (Can't decide but you get it)

5 RespuestasEditado por Tamed: 5/26/2016 1:32:08 PMI have never been outgunned at range by DoP unless I was using another bullet hose auto rifle or a Handcannon and I missed. Stop rushing into them and gun them down from mid/long range with your pulse rifle or scout rifle. Holy shit.
-
1 RespuestaDude if your 20 feet away I do 2 less damage per bullet. When people run, I can watch my damage drop off. There's no problem, doctrine is just the king of close range. I'd recommend not getting so close.
-
Soulstealers claw is better I think
-
1 RespuestaI say we just nerf everything into the ground to the point it's all just 1 point damage and the only thing left is melee. I like to look into my opponent's eyes and see their soul as I add another notch to my killstreak.
-
They'll never be true balance in the game. There will always be a gun that gets the job better than another, and I'm cool with that. I just wish they'd fix the phantom bullet thing with hand cannons
-
Yea I agree. I personally don't like the Doctrine. But when you go into a map and three quarters of the other team is using it then I kinda have to.
