Why Destiny failed

Ok, ok. Destiny didnt fail, per se. But this is more about why the game is as messed up as it is. Destiny is a very fun game that i and many other people enjoy playing. However, lately the game has been not so well recieved. Why is this? There are many, many things that ruined this game. TL;DR- If you dont feel like reading, dont comment that you didnt read. First, lets start with the story. A game that was once showed off to be this amazing adventure of a guardian as they fight aliens in space, turned out to be a 3 hour long un-eventful story. Its no secret the story was chopped up and redone before release, but you cant help but wonder what the game was like before then. The grimoire does the story a bit of justice, since a lot of the grimoire cards are great reads, but there still isnt a way to read them in game. Secondly, i personally feel that pvp is what ruined the game the most. I enjoy playing pvp, i think its really fun. But introducing a pvp environment into a game like this was a horrible idea. One problem is that pvp is too prioritized over pve. This game could have been one of the greatest single player games, with an absolutely amazing and flawless story. Instead, they focused too much on pvp, and in the process, ruined the experience for pve players with the constant nerfing. The other problem is the games genre. Heavily argued, this game takes elements from lots of different genres. Mmos, rpgs, fps', and more. However, bungie calls it a shared world shooter. Either way, this game has a loot system as well as weapon types. Many games have this, where theres a specific weapon type that will always have weapons that are 100x times better than anything else, but also the hardest weapons to get. Lets take for example the vex mythoclast. When destiny first came out, this was the hardest weapon to get. Beating vault of glass on hard has the chance to grant you this amazing weapon. At the time, it felt truly exotic. The design of a true futuristic space weapon, that made you feel like a god. But how did this weapon perform in pvp? Easily outgunned everyone else, and made players without the gun feel like they were playing an unfair game. This resulted in the weapon getting nerfed, as well as many other exotics as the games life spanned on. The problem here is that these guns are supposed to be like that. Exotics are supposed to be difficult to obtain but should make you more powerful when you earn them. To slap these guns into a pvp environment was a MASSIVE mistake, and ruined a lot of guns. Next, unnecessary nerfs. Following the pvp problem, lots of things have been nerfed for absolutely no reason. Xurs inventory, weapon perks, weapons, ammo, the list goes on. Things were nerfed that werent even asked to be nerfed. The game has become a complete snooze fest because everything just sucks now. Imo, they need to either un nerf everything or at least un nerf a lot of the stuff they shouldnt have nerfed. Finally, here are some extra things that im not gonna go in depth with. 3oC made exotics feel worthless. Sbmm is retarded. Bungie doesnt actually listen to us. Too much whining from the community. Lack of rule enforcing. Nightfall being ruined. Removal of elemental primaries. Eververse. In conclusion, its the players that ruined the game. Complaining is what got the vex and thorn nerfed. People requiring gjally is what got that nerfed. Complaints about arcblade and sunbreaker is what got those nerfed. If you wanted balance, you couldve simply said "i feel there is a problem with this and needs to be fixed", instead of "OMG HE KILLED ME THAT NEEDS A NERF IMMEDIATELY". If players could be reasonable and stop whining, this game would be fine. I hope to see better balance in the next destiny, and really hope pvp is absent or at least separated from pve.

  • Horrible lag that came with sbmm and probably won't ever leave the game. Stupid nerfs bungie did and were unnecessary, they can't separate pvp from pve balance (that needs to exist in the next game). There was basically no story for a year, the dlc missions are at the same places we've played before (lazy much?), they don't have a direction to where the game is going, hence the upgrade changes in every dlc. They'll patch the srl book thing quick enough but won't give a -blam!- for terribly unbalanced weapons like the how handcannon meta (since this is an online game patches should be much faster) . They say that they try to lessen the grind but since taken king launched they are trying to halt player progression/nerf our ability to buy stuff. And my personal favorite ToO was much better loot wise in year 1. You knew what you were aiming for and it had awesome weapons for pvp, now not so much. I need the double reload gauntlets back bungie and last but not least bring the rest of the exotics out you had plenty of time to remake them and don't try to sell them with the next expansion
