If Gender is a social construct, and not at all dependent upon the brain, or genetics, and is simply an enforced idea by society... How do transgender people exist?

3 Respuestas
How do transgender people exist?
Well, we could explain it to you, but you can also just go to the website and link your gender account and read the lore.

if (gender =/= sex) { gender = bullshit; };

Editado por Nepgear: 5/5/2016 3:04:09 AMTo some degree, yes. Biology tells you that there is a fundamental difference between men and women, but some things like women are only meant be caretakers along with other things like that could easily be completely be blamed on society.

1 RespuestaBy reinforcing gender stereotypes and then conforming to them. Being a feminine man or a masculine woman is just blasphemy. Gotta wear 'girl clothes' or 'male attire' to truly be whichever gender it is that you want to play pretend as.
-
Gender, as I've understood it, is the social behaviors and expectations of each sex. I.e. men wearing pants, women wearing makeup, etc. But of course different cultures have different standards for the sexes.

3 RespuestasAll I want to know is, if I truly believe that 2+2=7, will I get an A in math? I mean so what if my brain contradicts physical reality? We should go with my brain/feelings right? Not what physical, testable, observable, reality states?

3 RespuestasBut gender is a social construct.

5 RespuestasYou don't need an X and a Y chromosome to be a man.
You must be swift as a coursing river With all the force of a great typhoon With all the strength of a raging fire Mysterious as the dark side of the moon
25 RespuestasIt's not a social construct. It's determined by your genes. Anyone who says otherwise needs to go back to 6th grade biology class.

I wish I could "like" this 1000x.

2 RespuestasUh.. what? Transgender is more of a social construct then identifying as an actual sex.
-
1 RespuestaBecause the world wants to create "relative truth" , take away your common sense, and say "as long as your happy, you're normal" as our standard.

2 RespuestasIt's an idea enforced by society by gender roles, you know, like a man having to provide for the family or not show emotions, or a woman being submissive to the husband and taking care of the kids. Transgender people, I think, I'm probably wrong because they confuse me, feel like they fit the stereotypical gender roles of the other gender, e.g. a man wanting to be a woman because the man might not be "manly," he might feel more feminine and emotional, so he might want to be trans.
I don't know though, just my guess on it
