5/3/16: I have edited this post to take out what might have been construed as whining. That was not my intent at all and I do not believe that Bungie should make the game "easier". My intent was to have Bungie make some sort of Crucible "practice" that would allow players (especially newbies like myself) to be able to have some Crucible training on the maps and get an idea of what to do in them. This "practice" would strictly gain players skills. I've gotten great tips and ideas from the players responding to this post, so Thank You Everyone!!!

I've only been playing Destiny for 4 months. I am a newbie at the whole First Person Shooter game and based on what I saw when my son was playing Year 1, I decided to give it a try. I love the fact that my whole family can play together, which is why we have 3 separate Xbox consoles, Destiny games, Xbox accounts and TVs in our house.
The April Update has improved the game with all the additions and changes, but it also made it even harder since I'm new. I get that you needed to make it harder for the really good players and for the other players (like me) to work even harder to get through, but it would have been nice if you could have put in some practice levels of PvP that have no rewards and are simply there to boost your skill and knowledge levels in PvP. It has been extremely hard to learn the maps when I can only get a little ways in before getting killed. Props to all the really good players who know the maps and have the great gear that are killing me!
It would be so cool to be able to select an option to progress and play against players in PvP who have similar gear and skill level. Maybe these guardians could play against "training opponents", in something like a "hollowdeck" from Star Trek or something that could be strictly optional. For instance on Star Trek, Lieutenant Worf would fight in the "hollowdeck" against progressively harder "opponents" as his skill level increased and Bungie could do something similar. Lord Shaxx could take guardians through different levels of training with guardians assess by gear and skill level grouped together like classes. The guardians in the classes could fight different "training opponents" for lack of a better definition and as you progressed, you could then compete with your peers in non-reward Crucible matches. Everyone in this optional program would advance at individual rates of progression and when you were ready you could then go on to real Crucible, Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris. This would allow the people playing these Crucible "practices" to compete against similarly skilled guardians. This would be strictly optional and players could just play the game as is of course.
It would also be great to make an optional "walk-thru" section of the game that players could just take their time to work through to learn the Crucible maps.
So come on Bungie, add some stuff that can help everyone if they choose to use it and can also help lower and mid skill level players to be able to compete against each other, and get better skilled in the process!

1 RespuestaWe all started as noobs somewhere at one point. Just play the game and get better like everyone else did. The best players in the world were once casual scrubs that got wrecked all the time
-
Regular crucible should be completely random matchmaking so people can have fun and know where they stand among the community. There should also be ranked playlists where you play others at your rank so you can practice and get better.

Editado por HoldayInCambodiA: 5/3/2016 10:24:13 PMA few things. 1) Stop worrying about killing people, and start just trying to learn the maps. My k/d is still recovering from learning maps and getting my ass handed to me. I started playing on the second day of release. Don't sweat it, it's just a number, it means nothing. 2) Watch all the true vanguard videos. He is insanely helpful. Once you've finished, watch them all again. 3) The new subclass missions are in PvP maps, just run around in them if you haven't already. 4) Seriously though, you don't get get free stuff for not being as good as other people, otherwise I would have all the free stuff. 5) See points one and two. Repeat. 6) It's for fun! Get your kid to help you. Follow him closely. He'll feel helpful, and you'll get better. I guarantee he's better than you. You get to feel all proud, and he gets to laugh at you. Win win. Good luck. Edit: And it's holodeck, as in hologram. That was bugging me.

3 RespuestasEditado por ofaDyingStar: 5/3/2016 3:49:26 AMOh come on, dude. Really? Destiny was the first first person shooter I ever played. I had never done any kind of pvp ever, and when I played Skyrim for the first time I was so bad people couldn't even watch me. I had only ever played games that, while they challenged me, weren't really too difficult to master even on the hardest difficulty. What did I do when I started playing destiny and got absolutely slaughtered in pvp? I got better. Why do you think my KD sucks so bad? In year one I got mercilessly -blam!-ed. Now that I'm in year two I'm doing a hell of a lot better, and when I lone wolf it I go positive more often than not. If I'm in a group of friends most of them are better than me so I'm put up against people better than I am. It's why I like skill based matchmaking. So don't sit there and complain that you're not very good; get better. Work your ass off until you don't suck anymore and don't expect anyone to make a special playlist just for you because you're incapable of putting in some effort.

git gud; it's fun

Sorry I only read about 1/2 of this thread. All I wanted to say is that skill based matchmaking is in full effect. I couldn't sniff a 1.0 game by myself in iron banner but when I play with my friends or coworkers I am always 2.0+. The crucible is hard man. It took me like 8k deaths before I really started learning about map positioning and all the little things you can do to make up for average gunplay skills. You just have to keep trying/learning.

2 RespuestasTo be fair it really sounds like you're the bottom 10 percent. Aka people who are so hopelessly lost at pvp they need to ask for handouts. We all started at the bottom there is plenty of ways for you to get better as a player like YouTube. If you want something bad enough you'll work for it
-
I started at about the same time as you and am doing great have defeated oryx (mission mode ) without breaking a sweat I am at 302 light which is more than some of my friends who started at the ttk expansion

You should look up the kid that plays COD and only has one arm. I know it's not destiny but Jesus if that kid can play at that pace with only one hand on a controller made for two surely you can practice enough to get better at pvp in destiny.

Editado por Maulecule: 5/3/2016 9:45:44 PMThere already is SBMM to filter out crucible gods from regular players and weaker players. Honestly, if you like PvE, DO THE RAID. It is not difficult to do the raid if you know what to do and have a good sherpa. So you have 3 xboxes for destiny? Do the challenge of elders level 42 together. It is relatively easy. You just have to buy the elder sigil from variks to do it.

8 RespuestasLol. Try being a solo player in vannila Destiny. It rains purple gear now and exotics have never been easier to get. We could only hold 5 bounties at a time and motes didn't upgrade weapons. Materials couldn't be bought and had to be farmed the old fashioned way. It took me 100 hours to get a couple legendary weapons and armor pieces to be ready to go into VoG at an underpowered lvl 26. I was exteamy lucky to get a mida drop in a vanguard strike which was a 1% chance and a void legendary shotgun to drop in a weekly heroic that back then wasn't matchmade and couldn't be farmed. Those and a blue rocket launcher and sniper got me into the raid. You had to grind vanguard or crucible marks to buy vender gear. And because if the weekly cap set at 100 you would have to grind something like 30 strikes over 2 weeks to buy a piece of purple gear. And don't even get me started on ascendant materials. You had this catch 22 of having no reliable source of these upgrade materials except for the raid or dismantleing legendary gear. So to lvl up for the raid you had to dismantle your already exteamy rare legendary gear you grinded for all those hours. Your legendary and exotic gear wasn't at its highest light lvl until you maxed it out. Oh yeah and that includes your exotic perk. Now with this new system you could be raid ready in maybe 10 hours if you play it right. Like I said it took me 100. Don't tell a vannila player that it's too hard in the current era. As far as skill goes that only comes from exp.

You get a chance at gear dropping no matter how you do in crucible? And as far as getting better, try practice!

Editado por Vizard: 5/3/2016 9:38:47 PMJesús -blam!- you are already getting all the good loot for been bad (#ButtgieLogic) and now you want whatever the -blam!- you posted!? GIT GUD! so we, the carries, have a chance at crumbs at the least!....

1 RespuestaYou're a grown up, so you should be aware that there are no handouts. Well, despite the fact that getting to max level since the last update is now as easy as it's never been before in destiny. You're new to the game, You can't expect to do well in every part (especially pvp) if your previous experience is limited. You need to practice instead of asking for a way to make the game cater to your skill level. That being said, skillbased matchmaking in PvP is still going strong. As a result, Every pvp game is hard, it doesn't matter which skill level You're on. Keep practicing, watch crucible school videos by TrueVanguard and MTashed. Keep an open mind. Don't beg for mercy in the crucible.

No, you won't get better of you stay in your comfort zone

4 RespuestasInterestingly enough, Shaxx's crucible questline is basically a Crucible Tutorial. A live fire tutorial, but a tutorial nonetheless. Best advice I can give you is focus your efforts on Control. Control will teach you map layout, movement and spawns. The predictable nature of a game of Control will help you find enemies faster so you can practice your gun fights. Don't forget to use your abilities to your advantage. If you're new and serious about getting some crucible tips, I recommend watching some YouTube videos of serious crucible players. TrueVanguard has some great videos out there to help you learn the ropes. As for your idea of Crucible against bots... Honestly, it'd be much much better if Bungie focused their efforts on private matches instead. This would allow players to explore maps on their own time and to fight against whoever they wanted. Also, you seem to be under the impression that your PvP performance affects your rewards. This is not, nor has it ever been the case (see also: SmoggyPluto). The rewards are random. Now, the rep gains for a win and loss are different, but that's about it. If you're buying your gear from Xur, stock up on Three of Coins. You should get some kind of exotic roughly every 7th or 8th time you use one. Just don't use more than one at a time. Good luck, dude. See you star side.

1 RespuestaSeriously? You want an easy button? That's cool, but it shouldn't come with anything higher than green drops.

1 RespuestaI like the training Idea. I like the fact of SBMM but having a preset skill assigned by bungie as an invisible stat that you can't see is annoying. I'd like to see a ranked gametype that you have to play one match of 1 on 1, 1 match of doubles (with randoms, no fireteam allowed), 1 match of 3v3, and finally one match of 6v6. (No fire teams allowed for any of these) and once you finish you will be put into a division for that week to fight people in or close to your division across all crucible game modes. If you do not play these ranked matches then you will be in the sbmm system in place today. People that are ranked in a division will get their division symbol on their character card as well.

2 RespuestasWhy don't you just Git Gud!
but seriously, it just takes practice. Everyone gets there one day. Although, a tutorial wouldn't be all bad
Editado por Supernugget64: 5/3/2016 9:10:33 PMI am 52, hit me up anytime, my GT is above I can help you out, I am not a beast in Crucible or IB but I do hold my own. I play a ton of PvE. Peace Out!

Do some bounties for the gunsmith. One you've leveled up he will offer weapon orders. Level 3 gives 3 optional perk sets and some of those weapons are godly. Join one of the factions. Buy faction weapons (hung jury from Dead Orbit is good). They also reward decent weapons and armor. In the crucible though, you just have to tough it out. Everyone gets wrecked at first. Stick with your teammates (two guns always beats one), avoid open spaces, always have cover near and keep playing.

It's a known fact that the worst players get the best rewards in crucible
-
I re watched the very 1st game I recorded on PS. And I was complete trash compared to how I play now. And that was when hand cannons and shotguns were the best weapons. I got better by watching some videos by true vanguard and mtashed then I started watching streamers who were better than them and applied what I saw with how I play.

8 RespuestasI agree that there is a huge mountain to climb for new players with no friends. I have a roommate who plays on another console and has no friends to game with and he's been on for about 8 months and still uses blue items and a few legendaries. When he plays crucible he plays about 5 matches and maybe gets a total of 10 kills across the whole time and the rewards are pathetic (as we all know). He's still not strong enough to play heroic strikes or Nightfalls much less the raid or iron banner/trials. I catch him patrolling Earth for blue engrams and trying to help kill Taken zealots from a distance for exotic engrams...it's pretty sad. There should be a better path to decent light level without friends. SRL was a decent event for this.

Destiny is easier than it ever has been

Great post! I'm not the best "PVPer" in the community (my stats will back that up), but since the April update, I've increased my light level around 20 points by doing COE and Iron Banner. IMO, if you worry less about getting gear and more about having fun, the cooler the experience will be when you do get that awesome drop. If you're focusing on getting rewarded, make sure that you are doing your daily/weekly Crucible bounties for more rep with Lord Shaxx. If you're looking to improve your PVP experience, there are PVP based clans in the community (but you will have to search for them). Check out the #clans/#recruitment forums. Best of luck!
